  1. Don't be nervous, stay excited! They will go over all the information you have already researched and will likely give you more. I am sure they will walk you through their process and expectations. Get some rest tonight, and don't worry. I think I dreamed about going through this process every night for a year and when my day finally came it reminded me of how I felt as a little kid on Christmas Eve. They are in the business of helping people like you and I get healthy, they will help you work through any roadblocks. Good luck tomorrow! Sending warm thoughts!
  2. I think I officially broke my stall! Down 2lbs this week and under 250! Woot Woot!!

  3. Hi Tootie, I live in Shakopee, MN. Where do you live?
  4. I love your list! You see I went on a trip back in August with my kids and hubby and was unable to do so much. I tried but I held them back and they would not go withou me. I think I cried every night. at the time we knew I was about a month out from surgery and my granddaughter kept saying how this would be the last time i would not be able to walk very far or would not be able to go zip lining. Well, two weeks ago I went to Las Vegas with my husband. First, I had to go buy clothes that were 4 sizes smaller! Then when I got on the plane and into my seat, my seatbelt not only fit, I probably had an extra 6 inches! I walked all over Las Vegas and was not in pain, in fact my hubby and son got pooped out before I did! And I did not have to use a necklace extender. In February, I am taking my other son and Granddaughter to Hawaii, we have not been there since 1999. I have excursions planned on every island and I cannot wait to mark things off my list! You are going to have a blast when it happens for you. I am less than halfway to my goal and only 10 weeks post op and I feel so blessed to be where I am already!

    Couple of Questions...

From everything I have read and understand it is 48 to 64 total oz. of fluids per day as the first responder stated. Your proteins drinks should be counting toward this and any other liquids. I have yet to get to 64. I am darn lucky if I get to 50 in a day with my protein shakes and water. Also there is something about artificial sweetners in crystal light post surgery that just don't work for us. It is just gross. I bought one of those bottles that has the core inside where you can put fruit inside. For me the thing that works best is lemons. at the end of the day the thing that works best for me is room temperature water and If I am going to have a good fluids day, I have to sit with that bottle in my had and sip sip sip like crazy for a couple of sessions a few times a day. If I set it down I forget about it. In the first few weeks I actually had myself so stressed about this but was told by my nurse not to stress, just do the best that I could and try hard to stay hydrated so I did not get sick. I only let it happen once and trust me, you don't want to det dehydrated. You really feel like crap. Just do the best you can but don't get hung up on 64oz.
  6. That is very good advice! Every day gets a Little easier. After the 4th day I think it became very easy for me.
  7. My clinic put me on a chewable multi vitamin 6 months before I had the surgery. They stopped it a day before and restarted it at the 4 week post op mark.

    Fitbit

I bought my Fitbit about 10 days ago. I was using My fitness pal religiously since surgery and I wanted to two to link. I love it! I am so happy that I bought the charge, I now find myself looking for new ways to meet my goals everyday. It's alot of fun!
  9. It really is strange and must depend on each of our medical situations.

    Head Hunger

I also noticed that I cannot stand the smell or taste of fried or sweet foods anyway. I am so darn happy about that! It does not appeal to me in the least. The hardest thing for me to deal with has been I just have wanted a darn sandwich. I am allowed to have bread if I wanted it but it fills you up terribly and makes u feel like crap anyway so I have learned to use fruit or if I must a cracker. I love a piece of apple with cheese on it! Great snack.
  11. Speaking of protein bars, I love quest bars. High in protein, low carbs. Clean food. At first I was terrified of them but I have to tell you I LOVE them. I have not had a chance to try them all but, banana nut, apple pie, coconut cashew, strawberry cheesecake are all very good. They give you a big protein bump although I can only munch on about 1/3 of a bar.

    Head Hunger

I did the same thing. There have actually been times when I have struggled to want to eat at all. Sometimes watching the food network has helped me actually eat what I need to. I have not had issues at all with cravings which is very strange.

    Which one is right?

You also have to pay attention if you have hypothyroid. I dropped 40lbs in my first 5 weeks. My hair started falling out very dramatically. I went in to have all my levels checked to see if it was iron, protein or my thyroid. It turned out that everything was normal with the exception of my thyroid. I had lost weight so quickly and was now taking too much replacement.

    Head Hunger

I personally feel like it gets better but it is that savory itch that I think gets the best of us. I remember being able to have my first real bite of savory foods after the puréed stage. For me, I did not do well on that stage and lived on yogurt and cottage cheese so I ended up waiting unting soft food stage before I really went to savory foods. I did pass for me although you will probably find your tastes change and what you think will taste delicious might not. It is all trial and error. Good luck.

    Sugar vs Sugar Free

I cannot do artificial sweeteners of any kind, if I use sugar I use real sugar in tiny amounts. Since surgery I am also lactose intolerant.

    Will water keep me fat?

Hopefully your gas pain will subside soon. The bad thing about pain medicine it can sometimes make you feel crappier. I hope you can get out of there soon and get home. You will have to find something to keep your mind off of food, it sounds like you have some head hunger going on too. Have they not let you try sf Popsicles or sf jello. That might be a nice change and is still part of the liquid diet.

    Will water keep me fat?

Sipping Water is actually one of the best things you can do for yourself and your pouch. Just don't gulp, even if and when you can. Also stick to the rule of 30 minutes before and after a meal. That will help to ensure you absorb your calories, stay full longer and keep your pouch from stretching. You are going to do great Bella! Sip, sip, sip! Are you at home now?
  20. I am so sorry you are having a rough time. Unfortunately this might have to run its course, I am not sure there is anything you can take to make it pass. I would go back to liquids today to try to flush your system. If it does not pass by the end of the day, I would give your doctors office a call. Honestly I have had eggs do this to me before.
  21. Monday is almost here. Stay strong! You are through the worst of it now. After surgery your focus will change and it will all be worth it! Sending prayers your way!

    10 week post op stall

Good luck, see if it helps. From everything I have read and heard it makes sense.
  23. I agree, slowly is the key. It gives your brain time to catch up with your stomach. Otherwise you risk stretching your pouch.
  24. I had RNY. I had very severe uncontrollable Gerd and was on the max. Dose. I was told by my gastroenterologist that there was nothing more he could do for me besides surgery that is how bad mine was. I took it for the first 4 weeks post op and then I was told to stop. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I no longer have Gerd at all and I no longer have to take that medicine. I am curious why some clinics keep you on longer. Mine told me the risk of ulcers is gone after the first 4 weeks and with RNY it should cure the reflux/Gerd issue.
