    Psychological help?

Jackie is gaining, very nice of you to post your story. Probably it will help s lot of people like me who are just beginning the weight loss after the surgery (in my case sleeve). We really need to address what caused us to gain weight! Congratulations and thank you!
  2. I consulted with 2 surgeons. The first one recommended me to lose about 5 pounds, because this would give more space for him to work. The second one, who actually performed my sleeve, didn't require anything at all. But I believe this varies with your starting BMI.

    Psychological help?

Great insight also, WL Warrior!! I'll see if I can find one such group around my area. Thanks!

    Psychological help?

Yes, that is what I think too!! When was your surgery? And did you start with the psychologist just afterwards? How do you think it is working? Thanks!! Caio
  5. Hey guys, I've just had my sleeve done, and I am wondering if it is it necessary to have a psychological support for some time. I consider that we have 3 factors for not losing weight: a physiological one (the fat cells that try to keep us in the same weight forever), a psychological one (the stress or anxiety is turned into hunger), and a genetic one (there are people who get stressed and get thinner - envy that!). With the surgery we cut the physiological, but the others remain. What do you do to avoid getting fat again because of the psychological factors? Thanks!! Caio
  6. First: did you tell your doctor about what you ate? I think he needs to check your stomach to make sure something has not glued and is preventing the stomach to heal. Second: I'm on my 7th post op day and I am doing quite well with the liquid diet. What I do is to make a soup with potatoes, chicken breast, onions, garlic, a little oil and salt, put it under pressure for around 30 mins and then getting the juice out, filter it with a kitchen sieve, and drink just a coffee cup each 2 minutes. I drink up to 4-5 times this near lunch and dinner, and the rest I go with Gatorade, fruit juices (always sieved), water... But do call your doctor, you shouldn't have any pain to eat. Take care! Bariatricpal scared me shitless

Today I am 1 week post-op (sleeve), and I'm feeling great. I was frightened too, dreaming with problems, going to bed 3 am with anxiety, and especially after reading a lot of stuff and watching a sleeve video, things got worse. I suggest you stick with your plan, and trust the doctor you chose. Try to fill your days with work or other activities, in order to avoid thinking too much on it. My post-op has been great, I don't feel any pain at all, can walk 2 miles every day, and have already lost 12 pounds. I don't feel starving at the liquid diet, so only positive stuff. If you need help, I suggest you go see a psychologist instead of the doctor, since with this latter you will discuss only technical matters, but you can discuss your fears and certitudes with the first. Take care and good luck! Caio
  8. By the way, the salty broths are what really kill my hunger, because apart from that is is just some sweet drinks!
  9. I had my surgery just 5 days ago. Initially I felt a little hungry since I am still on liquid diet. But it's not too much, and I can survive. It is clearly old habits coming back, since I normally feel that only when I am alone at night...
