  1. If anyone is having trouble consuming their Protein goals per day, this is the only route I have found that works for me. *I will tell you it is slightly more expensive* overall but again if your unable to take in enough via a shake, this is like drinking a fruit Water. I am doing this for the next week so that I can reach my goals. 60g of protein is difficult just by drinking shakes all day long at this stage, next week I advance to Stage 4 (soft, moist proteins)! Once I reach the next stage I can surely drink one Protein Shake and one Carnation instant Breakfast to make up a bulk of protein and supplement the rest thru the day. Whew after all that, here's what I do: GNC (and other stores may carry) but I buy the liquid Isopure protein. It is an 11.3oz glass bottle and contains 40g of protein. I like the 'Alpine Punch' flavor, similar to Fruit Punch. In a glass I pour the Isopure and MiX it with a Crystal Lite Fruit Punch packet then add ice and let it dilute for about 30 minutes... It is absolutely DELICIOUS. * I have found if you do not at least dilute it, you will get an aftertaste of aspertane(sp)! I have since been able to get my daily intake of 60g per day NO problem. I hope this helps anyone with difficulties reaching their goal. (Gnc is having a sale now)!!! X's and good luck!
  2. I was hoping to see if there are others who had surgery this day to see how everyone is doing and where we all are at in our healing process. I had a great recovery while at the hospital, came home and had a rough few days being home. Now I am better than ever. I feel phenomenal. I love that. My close family and best friends can already notice a difference. It helps me mentally to do go harder and longer the next day for my walks. Can't begin the gym till this Thursday. Surgery day: 228 lbs This Morning: 205 lbs I'm so thankful for this journey.
  3. I was hoping to create a topic for exercising. Routines, specific exercises, durations, reps, running/jogging... Back exercises, arms, legs, thighs and so on... I my whole life never cared too much for exercise, which is in part why I ended up having GB. I am seeing my Surgeon this week and am confident they'll allow me to increase my activity level. I frequently use pinterest to look up new ideas but would love to hear from those who are physically active, what has helped you so far post op or even preoperatively in preparing yourself for after surgery. Hope to hear from you all!

    Let's talk about EXERCISE!

Hooray!! I've been lifted off all restrictions from exercise. I just have to go light on core muscles. I'm very happy. It has given me a. Boost I needed to light the fire under my...! Today's routine will be, morning walk with my mommy's day walking weights , afternoon jog, light weights to tone my arms, stairs and perhaps opening the pool... (does that count, lol)?! Talk to me people, what have you been up to. It's a beautiful day, let's get outside and get motivated!! X's!!

@@MichelleTN How are YOU doing? I hope your well. I am feeling better than ever! I had my 2wk fup, y'day which went really well. 6 days more of liquid diet. I was cleared to do the Greek Yogurt as well. I am two pounds away from finally being under 200! ( ???? )!! I haven't been that since before my first daughter. I had my Staples removed and have healed well. I can now begin an increased exercise regimen so all in all I'm ecstatic. I'm so energetic lately and it feels wonderful. I thank my surgeon for giving me my life back and also BP for all the wonderful people I've met who have made this whole process that much easier. Please let me know how you are. My best, X's

    Let's talk about EXERCISE!

@, Thank you! I just sat one morning thinking I wish I had more ideas for exercise and ones I would enjoy... I've posted other things on BP and decided to just add this as well. It's nice to see what others do. How far out are you? I'm opening my pool this weekend. Not that we can go in right away, but, I am looking forward to be able to use that as exercise as well. I LOVE the water. I am exactly two weeks out. I see surgeon tomorrow and get staples out also to discuss progressing to the next stage of foods and adding exercise (other than walking) to my routine. So excited.

    Let's talk about EXERCISE!

Thank you so much! To be honest I hadn't even thought about looking at on demand!! What a great idea. I too can do that before my girls wake up and have my first work out in. I try to do two walks a day mixed with typical errands running up and down stairs in my house. I average a good amount of steps per day. I like this idea a lot though. I will be looking at then tonight.

Isn't it incredibly exciting. I wish I took a 'selfie' daily to see the progress... I have my day of surgery pic and then two weeks prior I will take one in two weeks, I think every month I will for the next year. Congratulations on your surgery date. It's the best decision I've ever made. That was 9 days post op. Morning of surgery, left... 9 days po, right.

    Let's talk about EXERCISE!

Wow these are all excellent!!! Seems like we all have motivation to do what ever we can to attain a healthy goal of exercise! I love reading all of these bc it helps not just myself but all of us for more ideas as well as changing up some of our routines. It is nice to see the yoga posts. I actually never have tried it, but have been referred by a few close friends lately to give it a try. Once I get lifted from my restrictions I may have to. @@KingMoose my friend that is dedication to the fullest. Good for you. My husband too is very athletic and I thought he went nuts with his workouts but I am learning you get what you put it. I have been walking twice daily for a minimum of 30 minutes, doing stairs in my house. There's three sets of stairs between basement and all the way to the family rm. I cannot wait to get clearance to add more to my daily routine come Thursday. I can't thank you enough who've share and hope more will too. Also, check back in every once in a while. Share your latest and who knows you may take something out of someone else's post!

    April 22'nd Gastric Bypass Buddies

Lol, thank you! Everyone loses at their own rate. Some a good amount and some not so much... I am sure I will be nearing a stall soon as I have lost a decent amount... I am mentally preparing myself for it now. I am extremely active since the minute I could walk at home and was taking in enough protein so I wouldn't pass out. Since day five I've been doing all my house cleaning again, cooking, laundry, groceries, walking twice a day for at least 30 minutes, taking my girls to the park every other day running after them, up and down my stairs inside and outside... I try to log at a minimum of 5-6,000 steps a day. My goal is to reach 10,000. I'm confident this has led me to achieve a higher loss in a relatively short amount of time.. I wish you luck. Keep me updated. When is your surgery.
  18. KalelsWifey

    Huge bummer...

Just realized that I cannot begin soft moist proteins until May 13th... This whole time since before and immediately following surgery I understood it was 2 wks liquid and then switched over to gradually eating foods again... I was crossing the days off on my calendar. Feeling bummed. I'm already down 23 lbs... I wish I could switch over.
  19. KalelsWifey

    Huge bummer...

I couldn't agree with you more. I am seeing my Surgeon for a fup and staple removal this Thursday. She said on the phone a moment ago it's imperative you come, we need to take out staples, do a weight, discuss eating, I almost gasped. . . I said EATING?? Lol. So there is hope after all. Good luck at your appt. Fingers crossed for us both. I just want a tiny nibble of scrambled eggs so bad.
  20. KalelsWifey

    What ya eating tonight?

I m having jello right now as I'm almost two weeks po. I'm dying for food. Could've cried tonight when they told me pureed doesn't even begin till next week. I've been planning my good for two days now to only be let down lol.

@@JasonB, how are you?? Where have you been. I hope your OK. Thinking of you.
  22. I have a 2 & 4 yr old. I am so thankful that I did not let their age and 'lack of self sufficiencies' deter me from beginning this process. My kids are actually really self sufficient. My husband too took 5 days off day of surgery and four days after. That to me was the time that I truly needed him. I am now and have been for a week or so doing it all by myself. Cooking, cleaning, bathing, groceries, laundry with no pain or discomfort. I urge you to have a back up person on hand should you not feel well and they can help out for the day. I believe once you get past the initial few days you'll see just how quickly you'll bounce back, ps as mom's we always tend to bounce back quick lol. Good luck. You'll be fine!! Keep us updated when you have it.
  23. My favorite brand of jeans is American Eagle! I swear they look great in every body and contour perfectly. And yes I wore them when I was wearing a size 16-18. Lol. I now can do 13's two weeks post op. Right before surgery I was doing a tight 14.

    Anyone lift weights?

In my paperwork says you cannot lift until 6 weeks.
