What to ask the doctor.
@@fuzzywhitebunny I had questions...a lot of them so I made a list and took it with me (Because I get white coat syndrome and will forget once the surgeon walks in) I asked,...what surgery based on my history would be best for me, how many days in the hospital, what time of pain control methods he would be using, What size bougie he used to make my pouch (38 French)how long The surgery would take (roughly) if he was going to take out my gallbladder at the same time (no), how many incisions I would have, Would I have to have a catheter and JP drain (yes, yes) how long would I have them, would he be prescribing me anti-nausea and Anti acids after surgery, what kind of pain pills would I be sent home with, what kind of vitamins should I take....ect I know there was more on my List but that's all I can remember right now.

Not a good Day :/ - Surgery Postponed
@@HollyFriend Aww that stinks! I know how frustrated you must be. It's like being told your baby will be born on a certain day and then it doesn't happen! Just try to be thankful that your surgeon is being diligent and finding/fix all preexisting issue before they become a real issue. You want to be in the best health you can be in before going through surgery. Don't worry your "baby" (stomach ) will be born soon!!! Godspeed!

Keeping it a secret? Anyone else
@@Dualstarr Hello! Do you not want to tell her or are you just worried about her reaction again? That's a hard one because she's in your home and it stinks that you won't be able to recover in the comforts of your own home. I don't know what you could tell her? If she's anything like my momma she's going to know something's up! You may have meds, weird eating habits...I mean A really weird diet in the beginning even for a "dieter" lol! Moms are just hard! I would be on edge constantly because I know my mom would defiantly catch on With my luck she would see my scars somehow and KNOW something's happened. Hummmm I'm not very helpful am I?! I'm sorry I'm trying to think of ideas without telling your mom something dishonest. Well I guess even if she does find out she can't ground you and your too old to spank! There's your bright side!!! Good luck girl!

New to the site and about to start my pre op diet tomorrow!
@@GenaW828 I had a big reply typed out for you and it got erased...twice! I was just saying the things that helped me make the two weeks successfully where: making protein Popsicles. (I bought molds off of target website I think I paid 10-12 bucks and that included shipping) Don't let to much time pass between shakes. Turn off/ mute all food commercials. Don't watch food! I left the room when my family ate the first week. I Was ok after that. There where times I was out to long and had to stop at GNC and buy a single shake...don't go without your shakes! Keep your eye on the prize! It's not easy but it does get better the more time that passes. Just think if you cheat it will just make it that much harder..like starting over again. Drink water/fluids! Go to bed early if you have to to avoid late night temptations. Zzzquil helped with this.

Thanksgiving Puree
A purée turkey and gray would probably still taste good, And maybe sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce.

Cold liquid okay?
@@Brn2blossom I wouldn't tell you to go against your team but at that point in time you will need to get in your fluids no matter the temp. I've never heard of a temp range but I could do both W/o issue. My fist real drink in the hospital was the barium sulfate for the swallow test I can tell you it was not warm lol!

The most positive post on this site
Oh ok thank you. I do the "mention" thing. I've noticed a lot of people will talk to me but I don't see it unless they mention me, if not I go through and read all the threads I've posted in periodically to see if I need to respond. It's time consuming but if someone ask me a question I dont want them to think I'm ignoring them. And thank YOU for checking on me after my surgery!

The most positive post on this site
Aww that makes my heart smile! Thank you guys! I don't know how to tag names out side this thread but I'm thankful for everyone who ever shared any advice with me and my PM group. I get new people PMing me almost everyday which is flattering but I'm still just a newbie too! I'm happy to share any advice I can with truth and honesty ❤

Shopping List
Pre/post all the liquids, isopure, premier protein ready made drinks in all 3 flavors, after surgery only chocolate. Coconut water (after) Different broths. Jello, Popsicles,...although I didn't care for them. I couldn't have any thing red, purple, or Orange after surgery due to having a JP drain. That's all I was allowed until a week after being home then I could have thick liquids and I was able to go to the store and get the stuff I needed for that phase.

Shopping List
Hospital- x strength gas x strips, Biotene mouth spray and lozenges, fem wipes, ipad, extension cord, Chapstick, shower goods including poof ball, makeup wipes to clean my face. Glade plug-in, my makeup/toiletry bag was one that unfolded with a hook so I could hang it on the side of my hospital bed and keep everything within reach (bought at Walmart) My big pillow. The most comf pjs, rob, and stretchy undies I could find. Slippers, 1 isopure drink. I used ALL of it! There was nothing I needed...the hospital does give you toiletries I just like to have my own brands of stuff.

Everyone who ever lost a pound thinks they know it all.
@@Stevehud I would ask her how much commission she's making off this??! Tell Her sure you will but you won't be paying him a dime. I bet it doesn't come up again PS good job avoiding trivial arguments!!!!

Prior weight loss atempts?
@@EllieMae Same as mine. Only I chose to do my check-ins with a nutritionist instead of a DR.

Leak Test
@@EllieMae They make you drink a Barium sulfate drink (disgusting ) While they X-ray your swallows to your stomach. The drink makes a leak show up if you have one.

Leak Test
Mine did it the day after surgery and then again at my two week check up! I HATE that test!!!!! So gross!!!!

My new date is two days away!

Questions and concerns.
@@dallasmorris That is odd. I only had blood test none of the other testing. I don't have any co morbids though so maybe they didn't feel it needed. I know my anesthesiologist would have required more testing had I been diabetic or had any heart issues but I don't. You would think at the very least they would do blood tests on you.

Does Anyone Only Weigh Monthly?
@@mnmlst I had surgery on 11/3 and I only weighed in at my dr apt so far. I have a scale but I don't use it. I'm pretty early out too and I don't want the scale stressing me out while my body is in the process of healing. I'm doing what I'm suppose to do so I'm not worried about it. I see people almost daily posting and freaking out because they didn't lose A week or not enough for them ect...,even us early birds when really our focus should be on getting our nutrition/fluids in and healing. There's nothing this early out that we can do about it anyway. I may weigh more a couple months from now when I can eat better and "may" need to make adjustments but Right now it's kinda pointless. Unless you just want to see the numbers that's fine too but it does no good to freak out about it. To each his own! Now, I heard about the 3 weeks stall and I was thinking this morning are they saying on the 3rd week you stall or do you stall for 3 weeks?
