    Starting to get nervous!

This is totally normal you will want to go shopping before hand because after your surgery energy is at like a zero. you will want to get Protein powder or premade depending on how you plan on getting that in, also just some ideas SF. Jello , broth, SF. popsicles, I also drank quite a bit of crystal lite to get in my fluids because I could not tolerate regular Water for a while, And 100% juice. The first week out expect to have no energy this actually lasted for me about 3 weeks just make sure you get your walking in to prevent blood clots and lessen gas pains. Also I had really bad acid reflux after my surgery so my surgeon put me on chewable acid blockers and without them I don't know what I would have done. I also felt regret during the first few weeks but it is worth it in the long run it is just a struggle at first Let me know if you have any more questions

    3 days out - protein?

I could not handle any protein shakes at all until about 2 months out they just didn't agree with my pouch. my surgeon told me just to do my best, but not to force it and make myself sick so if I were you yes protein is important but I would wait it out till you can have full liquids
  8. I had my sleeve a week after my 20th birthday, and I would not change a thing I want to get the most out of my life and my obesity was holding me back. obesity, hypothyroidism, and diabetes run very heavily in my family and have always concerned me, and since my surgery my thyroid levels have leveled so I am now off of all medications, and do not feel there was a better choice for me. Also with being so young I feel I am getting the most out of my surgery because I can be active and do things I might not have been able to if I had waited till I was older When I do have children I would support them in any way possible it would ultimately be their decision if bariatric surgery was something needed for them. I do not feel an age should be put on it because I may be young but I know what I want out of life and I made this commitment to better myself for myself and I will do the same for future children if they ever believe they need bariatric surgery.

So what do you do about pants?

I went to thrift shops also recruited some family for hand me downs and bought yoga pants that were tight so I could grow into them and they fit a while longer than others I had tried

Hi guys... new to this site Help!

I had a hard lump as well but mine was off to my left side under my incision I thought it was a hernia but my surgeon said it is normal round your largest incision, and the swelling had just dropped, sure enough it went away no problems now. just curious how old is your daughter I think it is awesome you guys did this together what a great support team. as far as her vomiting is she using any protein drinks or anything like that because my sleeve would not tolerate shakes so I waited till puree and soft food and I get in my protein with no suppliments hope this helps let me know if you have any more questions best of luck to you both
  14. stock up on Protein shakes sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello, because after the surgery energy level is like a zero so shopping ahead of time is a really good idea. also you will probably want to take a firm pillow with you not nessicarily for the hospital room, but for the ride home. best of luck

    For Women Only...

I had the same problem I started a few days after surgery and it was weird for me because I was already irregular, but as the months go on it starts to get back on a regular schedule just be prepared because mine just started late and jeez I was not ready for that but yea totally normal Lol
  17. yes I only had it in the beginning, but everyone is different and some people don't have the problem at all, but if you do develop the acid reflux I would recommend asking your surgeon for the dissolving acid blocker I took prevacid, only because over the counter stuff just dosent work as well and the dissolving tabs are a lot easier to take and cause less discomfort. and yes after I went back to solid foods the problem went away and I stopped taking the acid blocker and have had very few days I have acid reflux and if I do it usually gets better is I eat some saltine crackers or something like that

    Pre-op tests list

the egd is done just to make sure everything is ok in your stomach, before they operate this way they don't run into any surprises hernia's, any sort of blockage cancer anything like that. if you surgeon does not do one I would not be concerned because all surgeons do different testing ie. I did not have an ekg but anyways they know what they are doing I would not fret over it
  19. The getting sick after eating is probably partly what you ate and also until about 3 months the sleeve does not tolerate noodles or breads or anything doughy according to my surgeon. as for the eating out I always go somewhere that grilled chicken is an option because it is usually safe. I would just slow down my eating and see how new foods respond to the sleeve and if you get sick you know to stay away from that food for a while. best of luck
  20. yes yes yes a thousand times yes. I had never had any acid reflux before the surgery and hardly ever any heartburn or anything like that. after my surgery it was a constant struggle keeping food down because of all the acid. luckily I was prescribed a acid blocker and I am off it now, but I was really regretting the surgery after I developed this problem. no regrets now I am feeling better and I guess that is what counts
  21. I am in need of an exercise buddy I had my sleeve surgery about 3 months ago. I have lost quite a bit of weight but it is slowing down. I need someone to exercise and just to talk
  22. I got one as well and have ate out a few times and ordered off the children's menu usually ordering grilled chicken with a fruit or veggie but still can only eat a third of it. the card is helpful for those days you have no choice but to eat out although I would much rather cook something
  23. everyone is different but when I tried lemon in water about 2 to 3 weeks in I had extremely bad acid reflux so in my opinion would wait on lemon but other fruits with less acidity should be fine also try some crystal lite it helped me because I had problems with plain water.

    Heart Burn

my surgeon put me on an acid blocked prevacid dissolving tabs which seem to help me but it is apparently normal with this surgery even though it makes me sick some days from acid reflux and what not my surgeon told me it fades away with time. so I would suggest talking to your surgeon for a prescription for the problems you are having
