  1. Kathy - Congrats! I'm starting week 9 of the C25K tomorrow. I can not believe I have almost completed the program!! I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it. I've been struggling with blood sugar issues lately. I'm going to call a nut to see if I can get it back under control. I'm hypoglycemic and was doing so well since losing the weight, then when I started running, it's acting up again. You know what they say "No good deed goes unpunished."
  2. I gained 2 pounds when I went from liquids to mushies. I remember I started my first thread on here about it. The thing is that you have been on liquids for weeks now with pre-op and post-op and your intestines are basically empty. Normally we carry several pounds of stuff in there at all times. So when you start mushies, well, it loads back up and your system gets back to what is normal for it. Now that you've endured that jump, you'll begin to lose again and will be fine.
  3. krtork, so sorry about the sprained rear. Take good care of yourself so you will heal properly and can get back into your routine sooner. Carol, wow SGK in January, I would have never guessed. My son is in the Navy and is currently at PCola, he complained all winter about how cold it was down there this year.
  4. Same here. I'm really looking forward to summer this year!
  5. Ebony, I agree with the others! I was thinking about cutting and pasting your advice in an email to my 21 year old daughter. Although I need to make them more generic since the nature of her problem is less personal. I really liked the part about the "I" sentences. Very well said.
  6. Carol - Hey! Glad to see you are sticking with C25K. I started week 8 last night. I can hardly believe it! Hey, check out Susan G. Komen, race for the cure for your area. I think their 5k is always near Mother's Day weekend across the nation. I run the Richmond VA race and it's May 9 this year. I'm even signed up for a timer chip! Rene - So glad to see you back! Good for you for starting C25K again! I wasn't on here when you were before, I wasn't ready to exercise but I finally accepted it and am having fun with it! Angie is also starting again after having her baby. I have to share an NSV with you guys. DH told me last night that he can really feel the muscles in my legs and that there is a huge difference! He's such a sweet guy and his complements come straight from the heart, so it meant a lot to me. Now if only my birthday suit wasn't too big! :cursing:
  7. Being too tight will def hinder weight loss. I know because it happened to me. What happens is that you slowly being to eat slider foods and they are inherantly high sugar, high fat and high carb. This will in turn make you hungrier than ever and you get on a vicious roller coaster. Get the unfill, under fluro if you can so he can get you at the right amount of restriction.
  8. If you are eating slider foods and carbs, that would explain why you are hungry. Try eating low carb, high protien, no white carbs at all, no sugar and of course, no liquid calories. Weigh and measure your meals. Let me know how that works for you.
  9. Angie - Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Good for you! Now you should go out and buy yourself a new outfit!
  10. Thanks Bear. I may have to try that. I had a really bad sugar spell yesterday, probably one of my worst ever and I'm still feeling the effects of it. Can't seem to get stablized now. I think I'll skip my run tonight and try to get back on track before my Wed run.
  11. Good for you Jon. This is a real life changing experience and will easily be the best thing you ever did for yourself. Can't wait to hear from you more as you progress through this journey.
  12. Wow, Diana, Congrats! I think it's amazing that you are doing this at 71. You'll probably feel 10 years younger when you get some of the weight off! When is your surgery date?
  13. I noticed the same thing about my 9 pound dog. LOL So what does restriction with the sleeve feel like compared to the band?
  14. Jon, You are on the right track. LapBand has given so many a new lease on life. If you read the threads on this site, you will see a lot of success stories. The band seems to work for most, although it doesn't work for all. If you are committed to some behavior changes, which the band makes easier than you might think, then I say GO FOR IT! You have your whole life ahead of you and you deserve to live it, not sit on the sidelines. Best of luck to you.
  15. I agree wtih Bear's advice. I've been hypolglycemic for 20 years. Mine actually improved as I was losing weight, but I have been struggling with it for the past few weeks. I hate to say it but I think it may be related to exercise. Bear, are you working out? If so, what do you eat before working out and how close to workout time? I've started running and I eat 1/2 banana and a small protien bar and seem to do OK, but yesterday, I had one of my worst sugar drops ever. I'm still "hung over" from it today. :-(
  16. tcbgirl, Don't worry about the surgery, it is extremly low risk. You could die from anything, look at Natasha Richardson. However, if you look at statistics, your chances are EXTREMLY high that your surgery will be a perfect success. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than for your surgery to have fatal complications. Most of all, the surgery is NOT bad at all. I am CEO of the Big Babies Club and I did great! It's a piece of cake. Not much different than getting your wisdom teeth pulled. The risks of being obese are FAR higher than the risk of surgery. You should seriously be more afraid of being overweight because chances of that having serious complications are rather high. You'll do fine. If you're crazy nervous, ask your doctor for something to calm you down before your surgery. I always ask for a  double :beer_yum:when the anesthesiologist comes in! LOL You'll do great and this will easily be the best thing you've ever done for yourself! Congrats for taking the first step. Also, just to give you something to look forward to, I've gone from a size 20 to a size 6 in barely over a year.
  17. What is falling apart? Have you submitted to ins yet? I got denied the first time through and had to appeal and was approved then. They make us work for it sure, but you'll get there! Keep me posted!
  18. Pat yourself on the back for taking that first step! You haven't given up and you still have your band there to help you, you just have to use it! Have you made an apointment with your doctor? You should def get a fresh start with a new fill. Also are there support groups in your area? I prefer this site for support, but some folks benefit from face to face meetings. Where do you live? I'm in VA and work in DC.
  19. It's never too late with the band. Call your doctor, schedule a fill. Join WW or your favorite weight loss group if they help keep you motivated. Come on LBT as often as possible. It HELPS! I've heard stories like yours before that ended in success. You can do it!!!!
  20. Kap, extra weith def contributes to hypoglycemia, so it should actually be yet another argument FOR the surgery, not against. Best of luck to you.
  21. I started out at 225 and 5'4.5". I was a size 20. My doc set a goal of 150 for me but I want to reach 135 in order to get in the middle of the healthy BMI range. I'm at 147 and a size 6. I bought a bunch of 6s and yet I still recheck the tag everytime I go to the bathroom or change clothes! LOL I actually feel like an imposter when I take 6s to the dressing room. I never thought I'd be this size, I was really aiming for a 10 or as a pipe dream an 8, now I'm thinking I can get to a 4 if I set my mind to it! My 21 year old daughter is a size 4! She actually gave me a pair of her PJ pants that I admired, while she was wearing them. They FIT ME, I couldn't believe it! You'll get there!
  22. Carol - Congrats! I know exactly how you feel! Mac - Way to go with the 4 miles. A trail run sounds like fun.
  23. Mac and krtork - Congrats! Kathy and Lacey - Glad you are getting better and back in the saddle again. Carol - Good job on the run, I hope you continue to enjoy it. Keep pushing forward. Whosya - One year is amazing, you give me hope that I'll be on here this time next year in much better shape than I am in now! Last night I did W7D1, it was so EASY! OMG, I never thought I'd say those words. I had such a stressful day and I worried that I would defeat myself and convince myself to take the night off, instead I kept telling myself how much better the run would make me feel and what a great stress reliever it is. I had an AWESOME run and then knocked out some pull-ups after. I can now pull up from flat on the floor then back down and up 1/2 way 2 times. Sort of a set of 3 semi-full pull-ups. I did 4 sets! When I started C25K I had to stand on a chair to get up there and then only could do flex arm hang! Woot! I now look forward to running and absolutely LOVE the way it makes my body feel. This is crazy! Thanks for the inspiration everyone and thanks for cheering me on!!!
  24. I lived with a porn addict and I know first hand how out of control it can get. He was the nicest guy you ever want to meet and porn caused him to lie, cheat, and steal from me. These are things that corrode a relationship. I now have a ZERO tollerance policy and DH knew it coming into the relationship. As for the privacy, I've always had a policy in my house for kids and adults alike, the computer is community property and just like at work, expect no privacy on it. I think if I had to hide seomething that I do regularly from DH or vice versa, then we have a breakdown in the realtionship already. Also, no one has mentioned that, for many, this is a moral issue as well. The bottom line is this, if she has a problem with it and he knows about it, promises not to do it and continues to anyway, then he is at fault for breaking her trust.
