  1. Congratulations! You're 6 days before me!!!
  2. I'm thinking about digging a giant hole, crushing my scale into tiny bits, and then putting those bits into said hole. Everyone gets so frustrated when the scale doesn't move, and that can't be healthy. It would take massive strength, but I'm seriously considering only being weighed at my surgeon post op visits at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. I'm looney to think I'd EVER be ok with that, but these posts remind be that it's an inevitable part of the process. Look for NSV's. Those are a much more fun way of feeling successful.
  3. Awe Disney! I went for the first time 2 years ago. I remember feeling like a kid, but also feeling like my feet and back were killing me. Can't wait to go again!
  4. This is definitely something to talk to your NUT about. They need to advise you on the best one because most of them are whey protein.
  5. A great excuse to go shoe shopping IMO!
  6. Congratulations! When are you doing it?
  7. Just stay grounded. When you lose the weight you will be on cloud 9 and LOVING the attention. And, that can be a good thing as long as you keep your head on straight. Stay strong in the characteristics you are looking for in a partner and stick with that. Find someone who is loving and compassionate and accepts people of all shapes and sizes. Most importantly, fall in love with your new self FIRST. Don't ever date before you do that critical step. After my divorce I had to take almost 2 years away from dating in order to fall back in love with the person that I was. When I met my husband I was stronger emotionally than I had ever been. He loves me for me and never compromises that. But, I would have been useless to him if I didn't respect myself.
  8. When I was in high school I was a 5 1/2 or 6. Then, I got pregnant and had babies and got fat and now I'm a 7. Did any of you go down a shoe size after you lost the weight?
  9. ahhhhh YES! @@finediva definitely shoes! I have such awesome heels in my closet that I can't wear because the stress on my back from all the weight just won't allow it. BUT, I bet that when I lose the weight they won't fit anymore! Oh well... sell and rebuy, right?
  10. I was listening to my morning radio show today and they were talking about things on their bucket list. I realized that as I approach surgery in December, losing this weight for GOOD has always been my #1 bucket list thing. At 40, I grieve that I didn't do this sooner, but I'm happy that at 40, I (Lord willing) still have lots of time to finally begin living the life I always wanted. That includes other things on my bucket list. I'd love to go zip lining (even though I'm terrified of heights) I'd love to walk at least a portion of the Appalachian Trail, I would like to do a 5k, I would love to ride a roller coaster again, I would like to travel more, I might even go skydiving! What's on your bucket list?
  11. I can't wait to run into people I haven't seen in a while and see their face!
  12. @@Ronab My surgery isn't until 12/18 but I started prepping a few weeks ago. Here's what I've done. 3 weeks ago I slowly weaned myself off caffeine. 2 weeks ago I gave up alcohol and started chewing each SMALL bite of food 30 times. 1 week ago I started REALLY pushing getting my Water in. This past weekend I had my last carbonated beverage and am now water or decaf tea only. This week I also started a liver/kidney detox tea. This week I am also replacing 1 meal a day with a Protein shake, just to get in gear for my 2 week pre-op diet that starts on 12/4. On the Monday after Thanksgiving I am going to start 2 shake replacements a day. Another thing I have done is I took a cardboard box and covered it in a really pretty paper (the kind with the sticky back) and I'm keeping all my pre-op and post-op items in there. I have several brands and samples of Protein shakes, a new thermometer, GENEPRO, Biotene mouth spray, Gas-X strips, lip balm (for hospital), a Glade plug-in (for hospital), a brand new water bottle, and other things.
  13. @@MeAndTinyTina that is an awesome story!
  14. Y'all are so funny! @@Forsythia C'mon now! hehe
  15. These are the kinds of posts I love to see! Can't wait for my sleeve!
  16. I've heard of some people naming their sleeves (Frankensleeve, Sherman, Miss Diva), and I actually named mine, even though she hasn't been "born" yet. Almost like anticipating a new baby (does that make me weird? lol). Since some also consider their surgery date their new birthday, too! I made myself an adorable box that I'm keeping all my post op necessities in like GENEPRO, Biotene mouth spray, a new thermometer, Gas-X strips, flavored Protein samples, mini food containers for work, even a Glade plug-in for my hospital room (thanks Elode!). I even got an adorable gastric sleeve keychain. So, here's to "Verti" my sleeve to-be! Did you name yours?
  17. I encourage you to get the book, The Emotional First Aid Kit by Cynthia Alexander. It will help you SO MUCH. It is helping me.
  18. I know what you mean! I have been trying to try all sorts, although from what I understand even if I like it now, I might not like it after surgery. I tried the chocolate premier protein and wasn't impressed. Today I tried a vanilla Bariatric Advantage and much less impressed, which sucks because that's the brand my Dr. has me using for pre-op starting 12/4
  19. Oh great! Good to know, thanks Rocky!
  20. Did anyone ever start a FB group or anything like that for December sleevers? It's not always easy to find these old posts.
  21. This thread is a little old, but I'm in GA, too. Gwinnett Bariatrics - Duluth
  22. Try using other things to distract you. Go to the movie theater, read a book, take a long bubble bath, paint your nails, chew on pellet ice, or journal.
