    pregnancy after sleeve

Congratulations, everyone! I'm almost 4 months post-op and am 7 weeks pregnant. Am balancing pure elation and terror almost daily. Though welcomed, this is a surprise for my husband and I. We sought fertility treatment for years and were blessed with a child who is now almost four. We accepted never having another, especially with a few miscarriages. Just had to let it go, ya know? I met with my surgeon last week and he was happy for me. He said the biggest struggle he could foresee would be cravings because the part of my stomach responsible for that should not work like normal. ??? But he also said it's case by case. Meeting with the OB on June 11. I'm really struggling with getting my Protein in. Pure Protein Bars are the only thing that seem to settle in the mornings. Yogurt, string cheese or any meat don't fly. I'm more concerned with snacking... I'm hungry between meals and just before bed. I've been trying to satisfy with an ounce of peanuts or almonds or pistacchios. Is anyone else struggling with a break in the normal post surgery diet/routine? I'm continuing to work out three times a week and walk, but am not getting enough Water in daily. Thanks! Have a happy day!
  2. Thank you JenWith! I hate the idea of taking too much time off work, but of course want my body to heal properly. Good luck with your continued weight loss!
  3. Can I butt into the conversation and ask.... In your opinion, if I have surgery on a Monday (and assuming all goes well), and am scheduled to attend a conference on that Friday - is it realistic I'll be healthy enough for 8 hours of non-lifting, sitting for 45 minute sessions, standing and networking kinds of activities? I am truly struggling to find a date in between events I have from now through March - don't want to overdue it.

Egd, protein shakes, a checklist? ?

Thank you for the advice - especially on trying out different kinds of shakes. @@alwaysvegas thanks for the reminder of other things to do!! Off the caff and soda for 2.5 months but need to get my butt walking and break up my fast food relationship! Thank you thank you!! Take care all!
  5. Hey all! I have my egd this Friday and feel like it's my half way point to surgery. After the egd, it's one last dietitian appt and that's it -then surgery the last week of Jan or first week of Feb. I feel like I need a checklist of things to do from now until then. I've asked my Dr's office, but am not getting a very detailed answer. Would it be ok to start Protein shakes now? And if so, how? I've never had them before. Also, what else should I stock up on presurgery so I'll be ready postsurgery? I'm taking classes that semester and they will have just started so I want to prepare and plan as much as possible over Christmas break . Maybe I'm getting nervous and all this is coming out from those nerves? I don't know. Any advice or insight is welcome. Thank you!

    Love this forum!

Hey everyone! I've been excited about surgery since my first consultation on October 6, but am now starting to get nervous. The surgery should be in January. Today, I scheduled the egd for December 12 and I was like... "this is really happening". So although I truly want the surgery and believe it to be the right thing, I'm nervous for the first time. I'm not making time for exercise. I'm getting my Water intake, but am eating way more than I should. I meet with the dietician on Dec 5 for the last time, and am sure I will not have lost weight. I don't know. Just having anxiety. I don't even know what to plan for. Do I need to get some containers for Protein shakes? I wish there was a checklist... Thank you for contributing to such a wonderful forum and offering up advice and experience. It is truly appreciated! Olivia

    Post-op Diet/Menu Options

Thanks, everyone. I follow both of those blogs, now. I have to say, I am struggling with a high Protein diet, and eating only three meals a day. I just feel stuck and am not sure how to prepare for this lfe long change. Surgery isn't until January, but I really want to establish the right habits now. Thanks, again, for the responses! Have a great day! Liv

  9. I am going to have gastric sleeve surgery in january. My dietician and I agreed to start the new diet now and try to create some habits. I'm having a hard time finding meal ideas for Protein and fruits/veggies. Anyone recommend a source? Thank you!
  10. CONGRATS hollypitts! This inspires me. Thank you for sharing!
  11. Hello all! I have the 90 day wait, too, starting from Oct 6. My first dietitian appointment is Nov 5. I'm doing the sleeve. My biggest struggle so far, is not drinking when I eat. Anybody conquered that? I've been trying to eat/exercise as I will post-surgery. Thanks! Liv
