Tomorrow is the big day!
Congratulations! There will be days that you may doubt your decision, but keep up the hard work and keep moving forward. It's not a quick fix and it takes a lot of hard work after. It is a mental game and you can beat it. The surgery really helps with that. I was really scared before my surgery too, but I am 11 months post-op and am incredibly grateful for sticking to it. This is a life-changing and life-saving decision. IT'S WORTH IT!!

They will not operate if you have a fever. Hopefully it will pass over the night. Good Luck!

BMI under 35. Would you sleeve or bypass?
I was told by the surgeon that if I wanted to loose 50 pounds, to get the sleeve and if I wanted to loose 100 pounds, to get the bypass. That was the deciding moment for me.

Ouch!
Slow down your eating and take really small bites. I downloaded an app on my cell phone called "slow eater" and it has a timer for one to up to three minute intervals between bites. It really helped me slow down. The app is free, that may work for you too.

I am a week out from my Bypass, I want to hear from you all, HONESTLY , do any of you regret doing this? I know how I feel BUT.....
I am 5 months post-op Gastric Bypass and I would absolutely do it all over again. Yes, there is a lot of, after surgery management to hurdle through, but I would absolutely do it all over again. It has completely given me my life back and I have lost 89 pounds in only 5 months. My clothes feel better, fit better, look better. I would never want to go back. You already made the commitment to yourself, just stick with it, you are worth it!

I'm so thankful for this forum!
I had gastric bypass 9/25 and am still going strong. I have one week stalls once a month around the time of my cycle, but I just stick to the diet and the protein and the weight continues to go down.

I'm so thankful for this forum!
Absolutely agree! This has been life saving. I was given the same kind of advice, if I stall .. go back to liquid and the weight loss will pick up again. So far, it's been steady loss but I am still working toward my goal weight. 82 pounds down, 18 more to go. We can do it!

Day 4 Post Op Questions I need your Wisdom on the Nitty Gritty!
Maybe you need to shake up the protein drink a little better. I got dizziness too, right around the stage you are at (4 days) and was told it was because I was dehydrated and not drinking enough water. Don't know what the hairy tongue thing is, but you could try mixing protein in with crystal light. I like the Premier Protein drinks from Costco, they are already blended up with Whey protein. 30 grams of protein and only 160 calories and 1 gram of sugar. They are delicious so I don't even mess around with powders. Good luck, stick with it. It is so worth it!

Help
Stick it out, it's worth it. The liquid/pureed/soft food diet won't last forever and it is so much easier after surgery. It's worth the headache now because the after results will be amazing!

New Here!
I had the Gastric Bypass 3 months ago, with a 68 lb weight loss so far. Totally happy with my choice, no regrets, no complications. You should be able to find a WLS educational seminar. They go over all the surgeries in detail and that should help you decide which one is best for you. Best of Luck!!

These surgeries are life saving, we are all courageous.

Info
Depression can come with it, yes I would say that is normal. I'm sure it is temporary. Sometimes we go into shock after surgery, once we finally realize what we've done to our bodies. That may cause the depression and/or she may just need more time to heal her mind and spirit after what she has been through.

Constipation Club
4 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia every other day, works like a charm for me.

Oh My I am Miserable!
I also ate sugar free popsicles to get in more fluids, try that too.

Oh My I am Miserable!
You'll gradually be able to drink more water. I actually had a bout of dehydration about a week past surgery, but slowly I was able to intake more water. Some days I still feel like I'm not drinking enough but as long as the dehydration symptoms don't come back, I'm getting enough in. Just keep trying ... sip, sip, sip all day.

Very beginning stage
