Me too...they gave me 4 oz of 100% apple juice along with jello, decaff black tea, and beef broth on that hospital food tray.
  3. I only told my head nurse and supervisor. Then did all my paper work at HR office.
  4. After 3 weeks I did feel sluggish because my monthly bill came and I had heavy bleeding. I have slight anemia so it made it worse. My doctor told me to followup with GYN and to take a B12 for energy. I need some Popeye's spinach, lol.

    Confused?

Two years ago I wanted to do the gastric bypass and my surgery was cancelled because I was going to a cardiac arrest. Devasted and depressed I never went back to that surgeon. The cardiologist and phych doctor advised me not to do the surgery. None of them could explain to me what had happened in that OR room. I found a trusted surgeon else where and he was very attentive to my needs. He listened to my horrible story and we sat together and discussed all the procedures. He said the gastric sleeve is good for me because my diabetes wasn't out of control. Then he explained to me why the others wouldn't be good for me. Overall he was the best surgeon for me. I thank him so much! The key is to find a good doctor. I wish you the best in making the right decisions towards your health. Best wishes.
  7. Another thing I won't miss is asking for a seat belt extender from the airplane stewardess.

You know you lost weight when

My gold jewelry bracelet flung across the room while I was talking to my kid. She had to duck down when she saw my bracelet flying towards her, lol
  9. I had mines on 10/8/14 and I feel exactly the same way you do. My nutritionist says that's the first phase and the first month is always tough. I keep taking my nausea pill and still take small sips of liquids to digest. We will keep posted our journey. Best wishes.
  10. Me three! No more 4x scrubs to wear for work!
  11. I'am a newbie here in this forum. I did the gastric sleeve this past 10/8/14 by my surgeon Dr. Eid from Advanced Laprascopic Associates at New Jersey. I came a long way because 2 years ago I tried to do the gastric bypass and I was getting a cardiac arrest and the doctor chose to close me up 20 minutes during the surgery. When I opened my eyes he said he pulled me from heaven. I was devastated and was depressed and the doctor or staff couldn't even tell me what happened to me. The only thing they said to me was to lose more weight and come back another time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! I never went back to them. I statrted over again at another doctors office after two years and I found a wonderful who took the time and listened to my story and he and his staff was extra cautious with me. He said to me that the gastric sleeve was the best choice for me since my cholesterol and diabetes wasn't out of control. I weighed at the time 278 lbs. Before the surgery I had to loose weight and on ore op I weighed 265 lbs. Now I weigh 244 lbs. Right away you see the difference. Tomorrow I have a followup surgery appointment with my doctor and I'am excited to see him and thank him all over again. I look forward to join this journey with all of you and have a better understanding this big change of life. Best wishes to all.

    Hello everybody!

I saw my nutritionist today and told her all my complaints and she said is normal for phase one to go through my mess. Well I told her about the protein shake and she said that's the reason for my diarrea because I wasn't suppose to start that yet. She said after 14 days I can start protein shakes on phase 2. Phase 3 will be puree soft foods. She said the reason for my heartburns is because I need to go a little slower on my liquid intakes. It should be 4oz every hour. She said my body needs at least 64oz per day. Well I'm still learning and the office gave me a welcome package with food samples for phase 2 & 3. They said they sell bariatric foods at the clinic but I decline because they were so pricey. I was scheduled to see my doctor on the 29. I can't wait to see him to thank him again.

    Time off work?

I had to fill out a FMLA (Family Medical Leave of Absence) forms from the human resource office to be on sick leave. As soon as I got the surgery date I had to make a two week medical clearance appointment with my PCP. My doctor keep my forms and I told her to give me like 6 weeks until further notice. She filled out my forms in two days and I immediately told my department that I was going to be out for the next 6 weeks. Then a week later my job sent me a letter stating I was approved for medical leave and they set up an appointment for me at the employee's health office for clearance to be back on duty. In case you are wondering I work as a nursing assistant for a NYC hospital.
  15. I will not miss taking medications for my diabetes, asthma, cholersterol, HTN, and anemia. I want to be healthy again and finally be able to get on the rides with my daughter at the amusement parks. I use to feel bad when she refuses to get on a ride because I couldn't. Here's to a healthy year and new year.

    Hello everybody!

Oh laaawwwwdddd, lol. I just came from the bathroom trying to throw up nothing. So far today I had some jello and couldn't finish it and tried some decaff black tea, and beef broth and couldn't finish any of them. Is like I got no appetite at all. But everytime I try to sip something I feel heartburns. My doctor prescribed me Omeprazole 40 mg 1 tab a day for the heartburn. It works only temporary. Plus I take the percocet at night for the pain. I have slight stomach pain and with gases.

Am I the only one with Diarrhea?

I started getting Diarrea when I statrted the protein shakes. I'm thinking I'm introducing my stomach to new things little by little.
  20. I have GHI and once your surgical coordinator sends all out your medical clearances from your PCP and all other requirements, GHI gives you a response in 5 business days. They are quick. Good luck.
  21. My surgeon is Dr. Sebastian Eid from Advanced Laprascopic Associates at Paramus, NJ. I stood 2 days at Jersey Medical Center at Jersey City, NJ. Several people I know had Dr. Eid or the other doctors in this medical group. My doctor had the grace of a GOD when he did my gastric sleeve. I 'am so happy with the outcome.
