  1. I’m a 40 year old, 20 year U.S. Army Combat Infantryman, with the 101st Airborne Division, 502nd Strike Brigade. I have been around some of the most BADASS dudes you will ever encounter. I have done so many high speed operation in my military life time that I sometimes gawk of the things I did in the past….Do I consider myself a bad ass, of course!! I do have a machismo type, Alpha Male mentality who love guns, 4x4’s, ranching, hunting, and women (but I make love to only one, my wife! Lol), football, sports bars, titty bars…any kind of bar!! LOLOL Now…with all that being said, the only thing at this point in my life that is important is my family, children and living a healthy life style. Back in June I had made my mind up that I needed to do something drastic, I tried very hard up until that point to lose the weight, but it wasn't happening. With my sleep apnea, arthritis, cholesterol over 300! I even exercised hard…but it wasn’t what I was doing in the past, I needed a change. I tapped out when I nearly reached 250 pounds, by mid-July I was a 249 pounds that’s was when the straw broke the camel’s back. I made my mind up to have the surgery and aggressively took action with my appointments support groups, begin the Fluid diet, etc. By the end of September, a few final pre-op requirements, and on October 30th I was sleeved. Today, just over 3 weeks I am down to 210 pounds and still losing. I have begun my rigorous exercise routine, and I really don’t need fluids for meals, I just eat VERY small portions of well-designed high in Protein Snacks and meals with my family. My family has been awesome during my “trek, “and I feel great! I have had a few minor issues, but in time I will adjust to the speed and duration it takes to eat a small meal. I’m still working on my hydration, but that to will take its course. The whole macho thing, HA! I laugh at dudes who use that as the excuse for not getting their life right and health back on track. This is not a fix all solution, it is a lifestyle change that will benefit everyone around you. I’m glad that I had the surgery, and I let everybody know why I did it, I want to live a long life and the only way to do that is live healthy, and this is where it starts.

    Sex...

3 weeks down, and I think it was around day 10 when we started to have sex...this past week though has been GREAT, getting back to my old self really works for my wife. So yeah, if you are ready go for it!!!
  3. Down to 220 lbs...rocking and rolling!!

  4. What it sounds like is that you have a "plateaued", you can probably begin to extend that mile into 1 1/2 or 2 miles, as well as remind yourself, how far would you have really come PRIOR to WLS. 35lbs, is allot considering what you might have been battling before surgery. Just keep up the effort, and do not be discourage its only BEEN 6 WEEKS, and excessive skin...I think losing weight at that rate will prevent from having, if any at all.
  5. First Week DONE! Tomorrow will be Day 1 of my 2nd Week, had my first week checkup today as well, and everything is going GREAT. I have already lost 12 pounds!! Whoa!!!! I'm graduating to smoothies, thicker liquids but pretty much staying to my plan. I have to step up on my exercise, so now I’ll be doing my 30 minute cardio at a tolerable pace, aka WALKING! Starting Weight: 249lbs Surgery Weight: 238lbs Current Weight: 228lbs

Congratulations. I am 3.5 weeks out from surgery and feeling anxious, nervous, excited.

  7. You had your quick fix, just make sure you keep up the diet there after. We all fall off the wagon at some point, just remember, this is probably the strongest you have been in your past diets. You will be fine!!!

    Psych Eval Hold Up

I think you should consider why you have been held up, you stated depression, and I think that is something very serious especially when you may have used food as an outlet for your depression. I say this because, that is what I have done in thr past and most people who have anxiety attacks and depression spells do the same. So I guess the question is, in the past couple of weeks has your depression changed?
  9. I appreciate your feedback, question in regards to the size of your stomach and liquid diet. I understand the reasoning why you do the 2 week liquids, but if your stomach will be empty between 2-4 hours after you eat, wouldn't that help with the surgery?
  10. Can I ask how much you were weighting, in regards to your liver being still to big?
  11. It's not always a about pounds it's also health concerns.

    Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!

I have been cheating, but not too bad I guess! I have my three Protein shakes a day with a really decent meal, and I exercise 3 to 4 times a week / one hour or 3 miles, and I will begin my pure Fluid diet on Sunday. I have heard so many different stories of what to and not to do, some are VERY strict and others well, sound like mine. I will say it’s based on the individual, of course, I had my last pre-op this past Wednesday, and the one thing that surprised me was the inattentive discussion with my diet, it was only if I’m doing a liquid diet. I guess I look it at this way, regardless of your diet, after your surgery….YOU WILL DIET and NOT EAT whether you are hungry or not! LOL I will focus on making sure I heal, follow the Post-Op diet to a “T” as to not hurt myself, but I think in the pre-op stage, just doing your best should be good enough. Think about, you may have never concentrated on your diets before until now…you are now that much better for it! Age; 40 HT: 5.5 SW: 249 CW: 238 GW: 175
  14. “Cheater” I think is a harsh word! Lol…I have been cheating, but not too bad I guess!
