What is your TRUE weight loss goal?

Great Topic @@LipstickLady! My goals are to have a AIC that is in the normal range ( I am almost there - started at 6.9 and currently I am at 6.0), I would be happy with any weight between 150 - 170, would like to wear single digit sizes and have the ability to shop in any store that I choose. When I graduated high school, I weighed 170 lbs and wore a size 8. 170 is overweight per my BMI chart. If I used the BMI chart my goal weight would be around 145. Seems nearly impossible even with WLS. I have decided to give myself 25 lbs goals at a time and not look at the entire 160 lbs I need to lose.

    Disappointed

So Disappointed! My surgery was rescheduled for May 26th. Surgeon doesn't feel like I'm ready because I didn't lose all of the weight they wanted. I lost 10 of the 15 lbs requested. They never told me the weight loss was mandatory only that you cannot gain any weight. Oh well. I won't let this derail me. When I weigh in on May 20th, I will exceed the weight loss goal. I'm not going through this again

    Disappointed

I was only two days into the pre-op diet and it honestly was not a bad as I thought it would be. There's no sense in crying (anymore) over spilled milk. I was handed lemons now I'm off to make lemonade.

    Disappointed

I was given the goal the middle of February. I tried but I guess I will have to try harder
  13. I start my pre-op diet today. Technically I am suppose to start it tomorrow. I prepped a thermos of broth to bring to work with me, I have premier Protein shakes, sugar free Jello and Crystal Light. I can and will do this! Surgery is next week. I can't believe that it is finally here. I'm afraid that I am going to turn into an emotional mess and scared for the people around me! LOL. Every statement I make will come with a disclaimer, I am on a liquid diet this week so this may hurt, ........! Hopefully I won't be that bad but who knows.
  14. I decided I needed to do something when I reached my highest weight of 315 lbs and was diagnosed with PCOS and diabetes. I was diagnosed with diabetes the day before my father's funeral ( He died of diabetes complications at 54). My grandmother, my father's mother, had her leg amputated and died from diabetes complications at 56. I decided at 36 that I wanted to outlive both of them and WLS was a tool that will help me do that. I went to my seminar in October. Fortunately and ultimately unfortunately, my BMI is over 50 so I did not have to do the six month diet. I completed all of my classes/requirements in Janaury. Approved in February. Scheduled my surgery for April 28th in March. So six months total for me from Seminar to Surgery. You can always push your surgery out some if you need more time to adjust. I choose a later date becuase of work.

    Pre-Op appointment Wednesday...

I had my meeting with my Surgeon on March 13th and scheduled my surgery for April 28th. I could have chosen a date a week or two earlier but I needed more time to get m work completed.
  16. I have been on this site and another one since I began my WLS journey in October 2014. I do not consider myself very active with posting put I read the site several times a day. One of the things that I have seen on both sites is this "fight" between newbies and vets. It appears to be this constant struggle of trying to help --> I'm offended --> I become defensive --> I attack --> Others join in and we have a thread with 5000 post shaming all involved. I would like to thank the Vets on this forum for providing information and feedback. Some I like, some I don't. Some is helpful, some is not. Sometimes I read things and go wait....... then I read it again and so oh I get where they are coming from. Most importantly I truly believe that every person here is trying to provide helpful information and feedback. I know that there will be times when I will receive the "wrath" of a vet (@@LipstickLady, @@Elode, @babbs), I welcome it because I do not want to fail. I know that there will also be the "soft kick in the butt" from vet (@@JamieLogical, @@BLERDgirl, @RJ), I welcome that as well. I mentioned a few vets (only because I have CRS) that I see post things that are helpful to me. I am in know way excluding others. I truly appreciate you all.

    Appreciation for the Vets

@@VSGAnn2014 You are my vet! And I forgot to include you in my list. There's so much to learn. But the best lesson I've learned so far that I'm taking with me into this liqiuid diet is, "Just shut up and do it!" or continue to be a FATA$$. It's my choice. I'm choosing to just do it!

    Appreciation for the Vets

@@LipstickLady, I appreciate your approach maybe because I live there! LOL. I have been accused numerous times of the same thing. It's just the way some of us are wired up. I do believe that you can find fault and judgement in anything if you want. You can choose to be offended and you choose to care. A lot of times I simly do not care enough and save myself the grief. I do love to read all of the Vets responses and the responses you receive. Sometimes its my entertainment!

    Appreciation for the Vets

my surgery is on April 28th. You are both Vets to me! LOL. I really appreciate the advice that I have read here. I am a very straigt and to the point kind of person. I refrain from commenting a lot of times becuase I know that some will get offended. It is never my intention to offend, I'm just not a "fluff" girl. I don't beleive in using a paragraph to say something that a sentence can do.

    HOW LONG OFF OF WORK?

My surgery is scheduled for April 28th and I don't return to work until June 1st.
  21. I beleive people go to Mexico who either have insurance that does not cover WLS and people who do not have insurance. Self pay for surgery is cheaper in Mexico versus US.
  22. SmilingBeauty

    I'm approvedddddddddddddddddddddd!

Congratulations! Getting approved is great, getting a surgery date is even better! I'm scheduled for April 28th.

    April 28th

Is the date for my sleeve surgery. Anyone else getting sleeved on this date?
  24. So I have been following this board since about October when I decided to have WLS. I view this board every day. For months I have felt prepared (from my own research and here), but now I'm starting to feel nervous. Maybe becuase I can no longer say my surgery is next month, I am scheduled for surgery on April 28th. I am going to try not to go full blown PYSCHO before my surgery! LOL

    How long does authorization take?

My authorization was submitted on a February 2, 2015 and I was approved on February 6, 2015. I had my final meeting with surgeon on March 13, 2015 and scheduled my surgery for April 28, 2015. He had earlier appointments but I needed addtional time to clear up work obligations.
