Trying to Learn When I'm full

I've always been a fast eater cause I don't like my food getting cold either. I now eat my scrambled eggs, etc right out of the pan. Not so pretty but food stays hot longer.

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

I had a 2 wk liquid pre op diet. I understood it was to shrink the size of my liver even tho my surgeon never did any tests to check if I had an enlarged liver. I also know different docs require different diets pre op. It's kind of crazy That it just depends on your doctor. Made me question 2 wks of liquids only. I did cheat but I kept it to 1-2 oz of lean Protein...turkey or chicken. It kept me sane and hunger free. Also had 2 Protein shakes, cream Soups, Water, etc. 2 days before surgery I went to complete liquid diet. Post op my liquid diet lasted only 8 days. On day 9 my surgeon released me to eat soft foods like scrambled eggs, tuna, canned chicken and cottage cheese. Am I eating perfectly? No, but I'm very aware of the size of my stomach and get my Proteins and water in first. I don't feel deprived, losing 2-2 1/2lbs a week, not losing any hair. Yay! By the way I was sleeved on Oct 20, 2014.
  3. Since wls I have issues with slow colon and a zippy one. Never know what the day will bring, especially if I have to go out. I don't use miralax and hesitate to use a stool softener. And I can go from one to the other in the same day. Sucks!

    Eating pizza after VSG

Had pizza for the first time 6 weeks post surgery and unfortunately loved it. It tasted great, everything has, which means I have to be careful not to fall into old bad habits and start overeating. I just keep telling myself small amounts only.

    Horrible eating over Christmas

I'm 9 weeks post op and envy those who feel no hunger. I do feel hunger and haven't conquered my cravings yet. Suffice it to say I did eat off plan this last 2 weeks, but still kept in mind my smaller stomach. So I had Cookies, stuffing, etc but only small amounts per sitting. Unfortunately I had more "sittings" per day than I should have. Luckily I still loss but only 1 lb per week. Getting back on track this week and moving forward. My goal weight is still 100 lbs away. Here's to the New Year!
  6. I just hit 40lb loss since first meeting with my doc back in May. I'm 7 weeks post surgery. I've lost 40 lbs many, many times. It's when people usually start to notice the weight loss, start commenting on it, I get self conscious and start eating again, gaining it all back (and then some). Today is exciting for me because I've never gotten past those 40 lbs. Now because of the sleeve, I have no choice but to move forward and continue to lose weight. Yay!! In a weird way I feel like my real weight loss starts now and I can't wait to lose the next 40, 80, ultimately 120 lbs!

    Dark chocolate

Can't wait to try Premier Protein shake eggnog recipe!! If it's good, gonna add a shot of espresso or coffee, cause I will be missing my annual Eggnog Lattes from Starbucks. They are now a no-no. Lol
  8. Sleeved 10/20/14. Since surgery down 15 lbs but hit a stall and haven't lost any in a week. Not worried, I know this is normal but I actually gained a lb (Water weight I hope). I think I've had a pretty easy time of it so far. After 9 days doc put me on soft foods. Go to foods are tuna, scrambled eggs w/cheddar cheese, split pea Soup & cottage cheese. Trying not to waste calories on foods that don't have Protein. But... I've had no problems with nausea after the first couple days from pain medication and very little pain other than gas for a couple days. Of the other foods I've tried, nothing has upset my stomach and it all tastes so good and I'm able to easily eat 3-4 tbls already. I was actually hoping to be turned off by food for awhile. I'm scared that it's been too easy, it will too easy to fall back into old habits. It's so hard not to pop that French fry my kid is eating, into my mouth knowing it won't bother my stomach at only 3-weeks since surgery.
  9. I was hoping to feel this revulsion for food that many of you talk about. I don't have it. Was sleeved on 10/20/14. Everything I've eaten tastes great (mostly scrambled eggs, tuna, cod, cottage cheese) but other things I've had a bite or 2 of also. I'm obsessed with food, things I want but know I can't (shouldn't) have now, yet, ever. Huge head game for me. I had an easy time physically, but I think ultimately I'm going to have a harder time reaching my goal. I understand vsg is just a tool, but I hoped it would be a great tool for at least the first 8-12 months, giving me time to work on the mental part while I still lost weight. In many ways I feel like it's a regular old diet where will power is what I need, and always failed at. Also I've been in a 2 week stall which I know is very common starting at week 3. Actually gained 3-4 lbs during stall. Needless to say, I'm frustrated and depressed for completely different reasons.

    Telling about surgery

I haven't been open about wls with everyone. The people I work with knew, some earlier than others. Close friends and family knew. As for everyone else, I just didn't want to go into it with my clients, etc. I tend to keep my personal life low key. That being said, as my weight loss becomes more apparent, if anyone asks I will not hide the fact that I had wls. Just didn't want it to be the constant topic of conversation before it happened.
  11. My surgery was also 10/20 & first follow up on Thursday. Since surgery I'm down 11.5 lbs. Yay! Very little pain. Actually haven't taken any mess since yesterday morning. Re: exhaustion, I'm fine, then all I want is a nap. Going back to work today on limited schedule. Tomorrow I have 2 4-yr olds all day ( mine and his cousin). Wish me luck.

    EAT ALL THE FOOD!

I wasn't on a pre pre op restricted diet so I said goodby to some foods I love but don't plan to eat again. As I did, I acknowledged they tasted good but we're just food and didn't need them anymore. Started my 2 week liquid diet on Monday and doing fine. Surgery date is Oct 20. Yay!
