  1. I am new to this great site that I recently found and I am in need of some guidance. I am in Canada and the process takes approx. 1 1/2 -2 years from the time you enter into the bariatric program until you have surgery. You have to go to your nurse, dietician, psychologist, bariatric program Doctor etc. many many times before you are even sent to see a surgeon. Once you get referred to the surgeon you are looking at another 9-12 months before surgery. Here is my issue...... I want this surgery so bad but my obvious gross eating habits are going to get in the way of continuing in the program. I have to lose weight each time I see someone in the clinic (or at least maintain) and I feel like I am self sabatoging the process. I can't stop this binge eating and yet on the other hand I know I HAVE to or I will NEVER get the surgery. I have spoke to the Psychologist and she tells me that I just have to think before I eat but as we know it is not just that easy. Please Please Please reply to me and tell me how you succeeded in getting your eating under control before your surgery?
  2. Would LOVE to find another female have the sleeve on Dec.8/14 to speak with via text and help each other through the first several months!! Thanks!!

  5. Does anyone else find it hard to figure out this forum? Would it be easier to email our "buddies" that are having Surgery in Dec/14??? I am just not really great with technology and find it so hard to communicate on these forums. Maybe thats just me??? Let me know what you......my new weight loss buddies think. Thanks!!!
  6. Today I start my two weeks of shakes and vegetables pre-op diet. I am so excited to leave my "weight" behind and get on to my new and healthy self. Dec.8/14 is going to be the beginning of a very positive journey that will change my life for the better. How is everyone else feeling that is starting their journey or how are you feeling now if you have already had the sleeve? Share your journey with us newbies! Happy Monday everyone!!!
  7. @@GreenEyes604 why can nobody join the Facebook page you mentioned for Dec. Sleeve patients????
  8. Can anyone tell me when, where they had their sleeve. I am so nervous about surgery. I am going to have to fly to Ontario for this and I don't know if I should take someone with me or go alone. What did you feel like pre op, post op and after several days, weeks, months. TIA for any advice! Hugs!
  9. So all of you people who have already been sleeved I would love to hear a lot more about what it was like immediatly post op for you and then 21 days post op and 3 months post op? I love to hear everyones story because I know some of each of your stories will become my new truth. I have the surgery on Dec. 8 and have to drink the shakes for 2 weeks pre-op how was the experience for all of you friends? What did you feel like when you woke up fresh out of the OR? Thank you for all input to my pre-op and post op experiences. Hugs!!1

In Edmonton Alberta in the Edmonton bariatric program.started doing the required modules over a year ago and I have completed them. Started seeing Nurse, dietician , internist and psychiatrist in June and they are telling me I am probably 9 months away from seeing the surgeon and then another at least 9 months before surgery. I have been very diligent and do everything they ask me to and still this is going to be a 3 year process and I am not waiting any longer I am going to go and pay for my own surgery. 18,000$ is a reasonable price to pay for my health.

How much time did you need pre-op? I am looking at 2 1/2 to 3 years and I am not willing to wait that long to gain control of my life by jumping through all of the hoops.

I really am fed up with this Canadian program and I am not willing to wait for 1 or 2 more years for the surgery! I am tired of jumping hoops and want to go somewhere that is very good and pay for my own surgery. Please give me any advice on where you have gone for your surgery and how was your experience and how is your health today? I need your help everyone please guide me!! TIA

Thank you Alex everyone that has replied to me thus far. I am so desparate and I need this type of community very much. I look forward to learning all I can about how to control my binge eating and lose some weight so I can continue in the program and then have surgery. Any suggestions from you regarding gaining control and eating healthier would be greatly appreciated. thank you all again and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Yes two years is along time but I am 13 months in now so I hope that I will be able to get surgery by summer 2015. What do folks that have post op problems do for a Dr here if they have surgery in Mexico? I would be afraid to be left hanging if I had a problem.

I think for me I need for sure 2 weeks per change as to much to fast will be overwhelming and I will end up on a binge.

Thank you all for responding it feels wonderful to know there are people out there I can talk to about the feelings I am experiencing and the hurdles I am putting up myself by binge eating. I don't have any close friends to speak to about any of this as the majority of my friends are at a very healthy weight. I am not comfortable talking to them about any of this in fact non of my good friends even know that I have been on this journey with the bariatric weight loss clinic for over a year now. I just told my daughter's about this process last week and they do not understand why I can't just "diet and exercise". I have made myself a promise this morning that when I want to eat a big bag of junk food that I will #1 NOT BUY IT and #2 sign onto this site for support. Did any of you experience slight allergies when you were heavy? I have found that in the past 2 years I feel a kind of shortness of breath and my nose is plugged. I am not sure but I think I may also have a gluten sensitivity which I completely ignore as well. I need to take care of ME for once and put on my big girl panties and be strong and vigilant and start getting healthy! Love and Light to all that read this and post a comment to help me through this process!!!

I am afraid that if I do not jump these hoops in Canada that I will fail if I go to Mexico and pay for it. It seems I am not ready to give up the food addiction. I am at the age where I do it now or never and I feel in my heart this is something I want so bad but my brain will not give up the "bad food binges"!!
