    Lapband Slippage

Hey all... I am not sure I am in the right spot. I am sure you all will let me know! lol.. I am 1yr 4monts Post Op and I was recently diagonosed with a slipped band! My suregon wants to go in ASAP and replace it(I KNOW what caused it!) The request to have my insurance pay for it was denied. My BMI was too low!! DUH!! if it was too high they would deny it for not working! Anyway it was suggested to me by my doc's nurse that I go thru the ER and the insurance MIGHT pay for it. Has anone had this issue and if so any tips? advice?? does anyone have any ideas of how severe the slippage sympoms might be?? I already had all fluid removed and I am at PRE op status! Ughh!!! HELP! NOT having it is not an option this soon after.
  5. Hi Everyone!!its been a LONG while since I have posted. I had surgury 3-7-08 coming up on my one year anniversary and I am down 149 pounds. I am now what my doctor calls the "maint. stage" mainly because I lost most of my weight in the first 7-8 months. I think the last 15 or so I can do with just working out. ANYWAY here is my question the last 2 or 3 fills I had alot of trouble. I was too tight got dehydrated and had to be admitted(Fluid removed) then next fill same thing..got sick once (fluid removed) my doctor and I decided that since my weight was satisfactory for me that we would not add any more fluid UNLESS I needed it....that was umm like 2-3 months ago. Now all of a sudden I cant keep solids mushy or otherwise down. Even liquid only sits for a while then has to come up. Tea has been ok but I am DYING for a glass of water! Has anyone heard of all of a sudden after soooo long getting too tight?? I should also mention that I had a bout with the stomach flu and I was thinking that maybe thats where the swelling started and now thats why I am too tight? I can't think of anything else. But I haven't eaten anything solid in over a week!! any ideas? I do have an appt tomorow but I just thought I wold ask if anyone has had the same prob!. thanks!! ~A much smaller Destynee~ starting weight 03-07-08 250lbs current weight (drum roll) 1-26-09 149Lbs!!!
  6. Hello everyone... I am having some "inner issues" and I wanted to get some feedback from you all. I had my surgery on March 7th,2008 As of today Sapt. 19th 2008 I am down 75lbs. I didnt think that was alot of weight although my doctor as assured me I am "way ahead of the game". My goal was to lose 100lbs and I am almost there. My question is am I an ABNORMAL case? has anyone else lost this much this quickly? Is this too much too fast?? I feel fine and other than still mentally adjusting to NOT overeating. I am doing ok. Anyone else with "significant" weight loss in a short period of time?? Just curious.... ~Destynee~

    fill with vomting

Ok everyone... I have been here before and I seem to have the same questions over and over... I guess I am still having a HARD time transitioning. My brain wont cooperate with my tummy!! I had a SMALL fill yesterday (.2cc) I told my doctor that FOR me 4 weeks after a fill is when I start to feel like I can eat. As little as that is!! I am 5 months post op and down a wonderful 65lbs. The problem today is I was stupid to think I could tolerate something I could a week ago. (Chili!!) 2 spoonfuls and my day is RUINED!! anyway I have a few questions maybe some of you old time vets can help me with. First... what does being "swollen" after a fill feel like? how do I know if I am swollen and how do I know when to TRY solids? Next.. when I do have days like today( I pb'd those two spoonfulls btw) how do I make my tummy not feel so BLAH!!! AND I have such a hard time sipping!!! how do you MAKE yourself sip??!!! I am such a gulper I have a hard time not doing that!! How much time should I give the liquids b4 I re-attempt solids?? Please help!!! ~a much smaller Destynee~:smile2:

    I need some advice

I guess everyone REALLY is different. I found that after having my 2nd or 3rd fill, my body changed. Now when I get fills it takes about 3-4 weeks before I can really eat any solid foods!! apparently (FOR ME) thats how long it takes for the swelling of the tissue around the band to go down and loosen the band a little. That and the weight loss during that time. I just have to make sure I SLOWLY SIP water or whatever I am drinking in order to not be dehydrated. Soups have become my best friends after fills!! ~Destynee~ Surgery 03-07-08 down 53 pounds!! whoooo hoooo:lol:

    Acid Question...need advice!

Meal?? lol I cant eat anything! ok small sips of soup?? umm small sips of drinks.. I am USUALLY done "trying" to eat...by umm 2 or 3. I don't remember how much my fill was, I know thats bad. I need to write stuff down! I do remember he said it was a VERY small amount since I am "way ahead of the game" with my weight loss. This is EXACTLY how I felt when I got my last fill. I had been going in every 4 weeks. After that fill I went in for my NEXT sched fill and thats when I told him I had been on mostly liquids. Since my bloodwork was ok. He said he would put off my fill for 6 weeks and that would be enough time to have a little of the swelling go down. Which would cause the tissue around the band to shrink and in turn I would be able to eat! I thought that might be what was happening this time since its not even been QUITE 4 weeks since my fill. I just got a little concerned because this whole ACID REFLUX thing is all new to me... I have NEVER had this problem b4. I almost thought I just irriatated everything by not really doing only liquids after Pb'ing.. I keep INSISTING today will be the day I can eat something solid. I will def. mention all this to my doctor next week. I just wanted to try something in the meantime.

    Acid Question...need advice!

OMG! thank you to everyone for the advice. I have my appt next week so I wont be putting it off much longer!! thanks!! ~Destynee990~
  13. :confused:Ok I have seen quite a few postings about acid reflux...but nothing recent. Maybe someone can help me. I had a surgery March 7th 2008. Just had a fill on June 25th. I think it was my 4th? anyway the fill prior to this one left me feeling yucky!! I couldnt eat anything!! most of my diet was liquid. When I went in for my next fill I explained to the doctor what was happening and that I thought I needed an unfill. He suggested, if I didnt mind my diet being mostly liquid, that we could skip the fill that day and that in a few weeks the tissue around the band would shrink and he was right.. in a few weeks I was able to eat "band normal". Ok soo flash forward I just had a fill on June 25th. Same trouble. I cant keep anything down and NOW I am even having trouble drinking. Ok sooo here is the REAL problem. Yesterday and today I have had what I think is ACID REFLUX.. It wakes me up out of a dead sleep and I feel like I am choking on whatever is coming up(sorry). I have my next appt July 23rd. should I ask for an UNFILL?? does this mean I am too tight? are my insides just irritated from Pb'ing?? and does anyone have any suggestions on how to help those insides "relax" or calm down from the Pb'ing?? I dont want an unfill if I REALLY dont need it. I know I know!! I probably need it! ~Destynee990~

    tight fill

I agree with both of those answers!! it takes me about 2 weeks b4 I can start eating SOME foods.. Hot Dogs are a NO NO for me. And YES YES YES if you PB you need to remember that will make your tummy upset too!! I say give it some time. If it becomes too much for you go see your doctor. Hang in there!! it gets better just be patient! and make sure you DRINK!!!

    tight fill

Ok I have a different answer for you... I had the SAME trouble.. I was really worried I would need an un-fill.. Liquids were NO trouble I just could NOT eat solids. Mashed potatos and gravy were great..but little else went down I was PBing alot. Well when I went for my "fill" I was sure he would suggest an unfill.. welllll he didnt, My surgeon said that since I wasnt malnurished, if I didnt mind most of my diet would be liquid I was ok. He said that as I continued to lose the tissue around the band would loosen and I would be able to start getting food down. Thats exactly what happend. So I think you should still talk to your doctor if its unbearable. Hope this helps
