  1. Congrats and good luck! My date is Wednesday. Here's to us being new and improved!
  2. I'm in Frisco. Surgery is 10/22 in Plano
  3. I have gasx strips ready to pack. My doctor said it was fine. I also asked when the drain would come out, as doctors are different.
  4. My date is 10/22. I am finally ready to do this for me, not anyone else. Good luck to you!
  5. Good luck everyone! Mine is Wednesday. Chopped off my hair last week. New me!
  6. I'm scheduled for 10/22! This is the month of change for us!
  7. I'm having surgery on on 10/22. I had to do two weeks of liquids beforehand. ALL liquids. While I have not been perfect, I have been pretty close. Tonight I had to go grocery shopping for the family. (Yes, that's so fun to do when you can't eat any of it!) Anyway, I was starving while in the store. So, I decided I could make a small salad at the salad bar and that wouldn't be too awful. I grabbed the container and filled it fill of healthy choices. No croutons, no crackers, no ranch dressing. I put it in my cart and continued shopping. I started thinking about that salad and being 3 days from surgery, and if it was really worth it. I decided it was not worth it and I didn't take the salad! I felt bad for wasting that food, but I would have felt worse if I had eaten it. I must say, I'm rather proud of myself.
  8. I have a question that may get me in trouble. Does anyone else find it incredibly irritating that people that only need to lose 40 or 50 pounds are having this procedure? I mean, I wish I only had 40 pounds to lose and I don't think I would consider surgery if I did. I would try something else, first. Just my opinion and I mean no disrespect to anyone.
  9. I am scheduled for surgery this Wednesday, 10/22. I did the 3 month planned required by insurance. I have Aetna and my weight loss requirement was just that I could not gain any weight. But every insurance is different. Also, different doctors require different things before surgery. I have had to do liquids two weeks prior to surgery, but others are not required that much. I have a lot of weight to lose so I think that factors in to how long you are on liquid before. I won't lie, it's not easy but I know it is going to be worth it. I would highly suggest you find a support group and start going now. I started soon after my consultation and it has helped me so much. Start now with practicing not drinking with meals and chewing your food really good. Good luck on your journey!
  10. My highest weight was 334. I'm 5 days from surgery and at 315 as of today. I cannot wait to hit the 200's and never look back!
  11. Congrats!! Mine is 10/22. I'm beyond excited.
  12. Yes, crush the pills and put them in the yogurt.
  13. I did my preop visit at the hospital last week. I got an estimate of charges and it was 21000. That was just for the hospital part. For the surgery and 1 night.
  14. Do you know why you were denied? You can appeal the decision. Many have done that and been successful. I wouldn't give up just yet.
  15. I was just approved by Aetna and it was very easy. However, they do require 2 year history. Not sure how you will get around that.
  16. I was told absolutely no gummies. I'm taking centrum chewable now. Haven't got my others yet as I am having surgery on the 22.
  17. I just saw my surgeon today for my pre-op appt. I asked her about pills. She said I could have one teaspoon of Greek yogurt with my pills. She said it is kind of bitter anyway so the taste won't be too bad.
  18. Good luck Angie!! I know you will do great. I have mine on the 22 so I'm looking forward to hearing from you on how everything went.
  19. Thank you everyone. Today is day 5 of my 2 week liquid. I have lost 12 pounds so far, so I guess I cannot complain! It has been pretty tough, but I think the hardest part now is the no energy. I am past the hunger stage, hopefully. I see my surgeon tomorrow so I am hoping she gives me some guidance on the fatigue portion. Also, I am diabetic and my levels are not coming down like I thought they would. I guess maybe this takes time, too. I cannot believe I am just 10 days from surgery! I am so excited.
  20. I am having surgery the 22nd as well! I started my pre op diet on Wednesday. I've lost about 10 pounds so far on the liquids. It took me a long time to get to the point that I was ready for surgery. I used to look at surgery as a cop out. But now I see it is just a tool. I went to a different doctor last year but backed out because I did not feel comfortable with the place. It took me 8 months to talk myself into finding another doctor. I'm so glad I did. I have never been more ready for anything in my life. I am tired of my weight controlling my life. I'm ready to regain control. I know it's not going to be easy, but that's OK. I know it will be worth it!
  21. I started my preop liquids on the 8th. I've lost 10 pounds, so I'm happy with that. However, I'm exhausted. I'm not really hungry but I have absolutely no energy. I'm hoping this passes soon. 10 more days!
  22. Many on my list are repeats from what others have listed. I will not miss worrying that I won't fit in a booth at a restaurant, praying that they sit us at a table. I won't miss carrying a seat belt extender in my purse when I fly, hoping no one asks if I will fit. (that has happened several times and it's humiliating.) I will not miss having issues with personal hygiene I will not miss being worried what little kids are going to say when they see me. We all know how brutally honest kids can be. I will not miss not being able to be active with my family. I will not miss getting exhausted walking just a few feet. I will not miss not sleeping well because I constantly have to turn over because my weight is too much to lay in one position for too long. Even on a tempourpedic bed. I will not miss all the pills I have to take because of my weight. I will not miss thinking my husband should find someone else. I will not miss almost needing a crane to get me up out of our deep couch. I will not miss worrying if a chair is strong enough to hold me. I will not miss having to keep an empty seat between my husband and myself at the movies because I crowd him. Wow. That's a lot and I'm sure there is more. I have surgery in 10 days and I cannot wait to NOT miss all these things!
  23. Monasongbird, have you started your liquid diet yet? If so, how is it going? I've lost almost 10 pounds but have NO energy!
