fluffytofit got a reaction from NewLife1985 in Federal BCBS approval when falling under 35 BMI
A girl at my job was approved with Federal BCBS with a BMI under 40 with NO comorbidities. She thought for sure she was going to get denied. Keep the hope!

@@bpmom24 that's how I feel! The permanence is like uhhh, but I've read, and seen so many success stories. We can do this. It's a lifestyle change for the better.

Did anyone else have their period on the day of surgery? I'm usually right on schedule, and should have it the day of surgery. Were you able to wear a tampon?

fluffytofit got a reaction from siximpossiblethings in Pre-Op Diet - Has anyone cheated?
My pre-op diet is for 7 days. Breakfast, and lunch is a Protein Shake, and a light dinner. My pre-op diet falls in the week of Thanksgiving, and I'm going to eat a portioned plate on that day. It's probably not "light" exactly, but I figure ill go with the turkey, and sweet potatoes.

fluffytofit reacted to mdsleeve in ARE THERE ANY OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2015 SLEEVERS OUT THERE?
Hi all,
I've been away from this topic for a while--I finally got my approval and I am scheduled for November 30. I start my liquid diet on November 16. Does anyone else have this date?
Also, I was in a Facebook group that stemmed from this post, but I was removed. Does anyone know if that group was disbanded? It was really strange--it just disappeared. I love supporting others going through similar experiences, so here I am again.
Anyway, best of luck to the Oct/Nov sleevers!

Just got my surgery date today! November 30th! I'm having the sleeve done at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY by Dr. Cooper. It's a BCBS Center of Excellence. I was so worried I wouldn't get approved, but I got the approval today, and the coordinator called me this afternoon to schedule

Make sure you mention to your doctor that you are planning on having bariatric surgery. You will need a letter of support from them. With our insurance the requirement is BMI over 40 with no comorbidity, or BMI over 35 with at least one. We do not need a referral to specialists, so id go right ahead and schedule an appt at the surgeons office. Make sure you are using a BCBS Center of Excellence, as it is required for maximum insurance benefits. If you aren't sure, google it and you will find a list of them near you.

fluffytofit got a reaction from SleeveandRNYchica in Approvals with BCBS Federal
Hey ladies...just wanted to post an update on where I'm at in this process.
August 14th- 1st Visit with Surgeons Office
September 20-2nd Visit with Surgeons Office, and 1st with Dietician
October 27th-3rd Visit with Surgeons Office, and 2nd with Dietician.
At my September appt, my surgeon's NP said they will submit to insurance after my next appt, which is tomorrow. I already had my psych eval, labs, EKG, and barium swallow done. My gallbladder was removed years ago, so I didn't need the ultrasound for that. I do have question though, and I've gotten varying answers. Does my first visit with the surgeon count? The bariatric coordinator said it did, but I read on here that some didn't. My best friend had hers submitted today, although she doesn't have FEP BLUE. It's getting real!!!

BMI over 40, or over 35 with comorbidity
3 months of supervised diet visits.
Psych eval.
There may be other things required by the surgeons office that is relative to your health. sleep apnea test, or EGD. Am I missing anything?

So, I spoke to the bariatric coordinator at the hospital I will be having my surgery at. She's familiar with my insurance, and the visits are actually with their nutritionist, and/or surgeon. I really like that the entire process is right through the surgeons office. So, yeah I do have to start over with my visits. I'm not discouraged though. Ive been fat my whole life, whats a few more months?

DaiDai, I feel the same way, with my BMI at 42! I'm 5'0, and 218lbs. People always tell me I carry my weight well. I never really understood what they meant by that but, my knees hurt, and I'm sick of being overweight. I was really shocked at my hypertension diagnosis, which is why I looked into the sleeve.
Tcrone, congrats! That's great news. I hope to be in your shoes in a few months!
Carmen Luellman, age doesn't matter here We all have the same goal, and that's to be healthy! Patience is not one of my virtues, either. I'm really anxious to have my next weight check with my PCP!

fluffytofit got a reaction from JesusFreak in Anyone Else Just Starting Their Journey?
Hey, all! Just wondering if anyone else is beginning their sleeve journey. I have BCBS FEP, and my insurance requires a 3 month physician supervised diet. I went to my first appointment a few weeks ago. My doctor started me on a 1500 calorie diet, and a prescription weight loss drug, Belviq. I have newly diagnosed hypertension, and my BMI is 42. I sent in my packet to the surgeons office, and what I love about them is they have a "bundle" appointment. I will see the surgeon, nutritionist, and psychologist all in one visit! If anyone else is just starting, tell me how you're doing
