    4th of July Challenge!

I am in for 10 LBS. I have been in bandster hell for months now. Maybe this challenge is just what I need to get a jumpstart!
  2. I can add to this vent! I was banded 4-28-09, over a year ago. I am down 34lbs. I have been stuck on the same 4lbs since november. I have 9cc in a 10cc band and my doctor says he feels I have good restriction because I am full for 4hrs after eating. However, I can eat any amount of food I want at a sitting. Of course I do start to feel full, but nothing stops me from cleaning my plate. I am fully aware that I need to limit portions, exercise 5-6 days a week for at least an hour, and only choose healthy choices. If I could do all of that I would never have been overweight in the first place. I am back on weight watchers and have that familiar "this is impossible"feeling creeping back up. As always I do well for a week losing 1-2lbs and the gain that back the next week, and around and around we go. I know that the lapband is not a "magic bullet", but I am very frustrated. I did have a time when I was WAY too tight and could barley keep anything down I almost prefer that to this. I dont know what to do other then cry. My last hope is to work on my will power, but that has not helped for the last 20 years, not sure it will work now. Any ideas would be helpful. It is great to know I am not alone. It will be even better when we all start loosing again!:w00t:

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

I am in! It sounds like just the motivation I need. I got my band end of April, and have lost 21lbs. I was up to 23lbs, but last week I actually gained 2 lbs. :sneaky: I was so shocked. I have not gained weight since the surgery. I decided it may be time to step it up and start excersising. I am not a morning person, but with working full time and having two very active young children, mornings are going to be the only time I will have for myself. So, maybe for the first time, I am going to experience 5am. It will be helpful to know that I am not the only one up that early. My goal for August is 50 miles.....wish me luck, and dont let me slide. I promise to do the same for you.
  4. Hey Everyone, I am one week post op and so excited that it has actually happened. The whole thing went really well. I have very little pain, and was back at work on day 3. The first day I had alot of vomiting thanks to the anesthesia, but that went away and all was well. I have been doing pretty good with the liquid phase and start the mushies in 6 days. I lost 11 lbs last week which is just awesome!!! The best part is for the first time in my life I know that 11lbs is never coming back. Thanks Band Groupie for the Band Birthday Card. Really put a smile on my face. I am so glad you are all here for my "new Life". It is good to have people who really understand!
  5. I am looking at Dr Nigro at Weightloss surgery centers, or Dr Edwards. Both are in Springfield MO. Any good or bad?:help: Thanks, Tracy

    April Bandsters?

Just got off the phone with my doctors office and after a year of red tape and insurance hassles they said that I will be scheduled to have surgery in the next 2-3wks. YEAH! Looks like I will be an April Bandster also. I am so excited I can hardly sit still! I like the bunny idea! :lunch:
  9. Hello All, I just got approved by insurance!!!! YEAH! It only took a year and a bunch of tests and red tape, but I did it. However, I did have to switch surgeons due to my insurance company. Has anyone used Dr Selim from Weight loss surgical center Or Kansas University? I have to use him and Kansas University for my surgery. I am a bit nervouse at changing doctors at the last minute, any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks so much!:scared2:

    February '09 bandsters?

Hey All, I just got approved today-BCBS. It took a year and I am really excited to finally be moving in the right direction. They told me they would call me back in the next few days to start scheduling the pre-op and the surgery. I may be a bit optomistic, but I am hoping they will get me scheduled in Feb. I am READY! A bit scared, but after working so hard for a year to get it through insurance nothing will stop me now. Congrats to all that are getting banded in Feb! :scared2:

    New to Site.

Hey Mike, It is great to hear someone who is also going to Dr Nigro. I am set up to see him Nov29, but have talked on the phone to the office a few times they have been great so far. Have you been scheduled for surgery yet? Have you actually had an appt with Dr Nigro yet? I was told my first appt would be with a NP. That is fine, just anxious to meet the Dr that will be affecting my life. Thanks, smiletracy:)

    Got banded in Springfield MO??

Hello, I actually live in Arkansas but just right over the border and am set up to have my first consultations at the weightloss surgical center in MO. I have been searching everywhere for information on the two doctors I am considering for my surgery. The first is Dr Edwards which I have been reading about in your posts. Everyone seems to really like him. I had momentarily decided against him because I was able to get into Dr Nigro's seminar quicker, and the facility seemed realy nice. I have a Consult set up with Dr Nigro for the end of the month and Can not find any info on him. Has anyone heard of him or had him as their doctor? :help: Thanks so much, smiletracy

    Arkansas Bansters!!!

Hello, I am new here and live in Bentonville. NW Arkansas. I have actually been looking at the Weightloss surgical center in MO. however I can not find anyone on this site who has heard of the doctor I am looking at. Dr Nigro. I attended the siminar online and have been cramming all of the information I can find on lap-band. It has become a bit of an obsession. I know this is the answer, but I am going through emotional hell. one day excited, one day sad, one day sure I will fail, and then on clear days I know this is right and I CAN do it. I am set up for my first consultation on Nov29. So scared. I am so happy for all of you who have done it. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! Have a good one, smiletracy

    Coke drinking poll

[NOOoooooo<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <HR style="COLOR: #e9e9e9" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><!-- google_ad_section_start -->No soda for me will be harder than to stop eating, instead of coffee in the mornings I wake up with my soda] Jessiel55 I totally agree with you! I have been coming to terms with all of the rules and changes as my band date comes closer, but when I heard about no carbination I was acutally stunned. I think I could be on the liquid phase forever before I could give up soda. I told myself two days ago that I was being a baby and I could do this and decided to give it up pre surgery. I lasted two days. Scarry!!!!! I am currently drinking 8-10 diet Mt Dews per day and even think I could go to caffine free, but the thought of not having that cold pop when I wake up is too much to bear. I keep reading about people who thought they could never give up their dt coke and now do not miss it. I hope I am one of those people after surgery. HOWEVER, if I am not one of those people is this a deal breaker? Will I undo everything if I have soda pop daily? does anyone currently have soda daily? thanks, smiletracy goodbye pop....love of my life....second only to food:think

    Can I lift my son?

Hello, I am very new to this. Just finished my siminar and scheduled for my consultation. I am very nervouse, and at the same time feel like I have found the answer after years of searching. I have lots of anxieties and this board and all of the great advise is helping. I think the biggist worry is "will I actually be able to change my habits?" I know that the band will help with hunger, but I do emotional eat and never exercise. I just want to make it work this time. I have failed soooooo many times with soooooo many different methods. I am sure all of you understand the defeating feeling in that. I have actually given up trying due to the depression that follows every time I fail. Anyway, I do have a question I was hoping someone could help me with. My husband travels for work and I am pretty much a single mom. I have a 4yr old (no problem there) but I also have a 10mo old son. By the time I actually get scheduled for surgery he will be walking, however I will still have to carry him often. He is 22lbs now and will be more then. Any one know when I can start lifting and carring him after surgery. Do I need someone available to carry him for awhile, or just the first few days? Thanks for the info, and good job to everyone. You guys truly inspire! Smiletracy, 275now............ BUT NOT FOR LONG :whoo:

    Banded Nurses?

Hey, It is great to see all the nurses getting banded too. I am not banded yet, but in the process. Sometimes I feel pretty stupid that I am a nurse and can't manage my own nutrition. However I am smart enough to do something about it! I have been a nurse for 6yrs, and just started a job as a nurse recruiter for a travel company. I like it, but miss floor nursing. Something in my blood likes to be on my feet running around. It is fun talking to other nurses on the phone though. I get to hear alot of neat things nurses are doing and trying around the US. Wish me luck on my path to life with the band and keep it up.....everyone really inspires me that you can all lose so much weight! Happy Halloween! Tracy
