    Dumping syndrome! Help!

I wonder if your pudding got switched by accident?

    Help how to slow down

I measure my food before I put it on my plate. By doing that, I can reassure myself I won't over eat my pouch. Then, when I find I am 2/3 of the way through my meal, I take a break. Ask myself, do I want the rest of that? A lot of the time, my little dog gets the rest. Sometimes I finish. My pouch seems to be comfortable with 2.5 ounces Max right now.
  3. I had the same experience, and had to have a heating pad for my feet in bed for a week or two. I am doing better now, 3 weeks out things feel more normal.

    Baby food?

I had made a nice 9 bean chili for my family, and pulled some of that out with extra broth and blended it really well in my nutribullet. It was lovely! I only ate 1 ounce very very slowly, just to be sure, because I had just recovered from terrible nausea during my first week out. But it worked, and tasted so so good! I did pull the beef chunks and corn pieces out before blending, since I am only 8 days out of surgery, and I don't want even a chance of a problem. So I made a been Soup purée that tasted like Wendy's chili.
  6. I am glad you were able to soldier forth and your surgeon was able to recover and regain his strength. Now rest in between the walks and do whatever you can to get that gas out of your system while you still have that lovely pain pump working for you!

    Still no relief!

I am so glad to hear you are doing better! My plan allows me to to add a Tbls of plain, fat free yogurt and either a 1 inch slice of banana, or a strawberry or two to my Protein shake. The yogurt really does help to bust up the horrible sweet taste of the shake. I like the small bit of real fruit in mine too. A couple hunks of ice and blend really well. I can still hardly stand to drink Water, but my shakes, when done like this, really work well. So for you today, try to get in your shakes, and I will focus on getting enough water! But don't forget sugar free Popsicles, sugar free Jello. Oh! I re read my plan, and I am also allowed 2 "snacks" of blended cream Soup, or blended been soup, or tomatoes soup. I had made a nice 9 bean chili for my family, and I blended the heck out of a tiny bit of that, added extra broth to make it really soft, and gingerly ate 1 oz of that yesterday in between my Protein Shakes. It was amazing! I had no problem at all. I felt human again. I am not sure what your plan allows, but I hope this helps! Since we are very close surgery buddies, I will be watching for your posts!

    Still no relief!

I chose not to take the pain meds after I left the hospital, and what you are describing is very similar to how I felt for about 5 days. I had extreme nausea. But I didn't throw up. On day 6 I had a slight improvement, and now I just finished day 7. I decided to get those shakes in one way or another, and I finally did meet my Protein goal. After adding up my day's fluids so far, I am a little over half way to goal. But, I have read this is kind of normal. I really felt much more normal today. Like there is hope. I just keep telling myself that every day will be a slight improvement over the one before, and if I can even get in part of my requirements, it will all sort out Soon. But my discharge papers really clearly stated to call the doctor if you have nausea. So I think you should call. Hang in there girl, this will pass.
  9. I only had a clear liquid diet the day before surgery, to clear everything out. I can only remember mostly the ore surgery area. They prepped me, and then said they were going to get my husband. I said a quick prayer, then he came in and gave me a kiss goodbye. Then I remember them wheeling me into the surgery room, and me saying, wow, it is cold in here! I helped move myself from one gurney onto the table, and as I lay there, she put something into my IV and said, this is to help you relax.... Poof! When I woke up, I was in some pain, and it took the nurse a minute or two to get over to me to get me something. But she did as fast as she was able, and then I was fine.

who is having surgery in September?

I still haven't been able to meet my protein goals yet, so I have no idea. I have been working to get set up on the FitnessPal app to track everything since it seems like the successful veterans are all doing that.
  11. I found the sweet taste yucky, but I noticed my plan allow me to add a tablespoon of plain, low fat yogurt, and an inch of a banana and that helped a bunch. Trying two frozen strawberries next.
  12. I am so proud of you for advocating for yourself! Hope you feel much better soon!
  13. You and I must be on about the same schedule! I think I might just get all my protein in today too! Way to go!

    September surgery

Sorry you aren't feeling great, but it really is much better to go into the surgery with good health. Good luck to you!
  15. I have been tempted to try just a nibble of something normal. But I am really scared to even try it. I think I may have figured out what made me so nauseated yesterday. The day before I made some broth and put in a 1/2 scoop of unjury unflavored Protein mixed with a spoon and put it into the microwave. When it came out it had little clumps of protein in it. I tried to strain those out, but I assume I ended up swallowing a small clump that got stuck. Today has started out much better. Tiny trickles of Water to start. A walk in the park, then home to my protein Breakfast. I almost feel normal again. (Not really) Funny you should mention problems regulating your body temperature. Me too! I went from a hot flashing woman to a chilly chick overnight. We are not taking in enough calories to keep warm, and I swear, the most comforting pleasure I have in life right now is the heating pad I keep down in the foot of the bed. I just snuggle in and ahhhhh... The heat feels so good! I can hardly wait till my surgeon releases me to swim in the hotsprings nearby!
