    Refried beans and cheese

Mmmm, cheese!! I've always loved cheese, so I already know I'm going to have to gradually reintroduce myself to it. I've got a ways to go before I can have beans & cheese though.

    Stomach binder?

I had talked to my doctor about this at my pre-op appointment and he flat out said I wouldn't need one; that bypass patients tend to need one, but I'd be fine. WELL, I had the hardest time moving around in my hospital bed and my bed, so I think getting one would've definitely been beneficial!!

    Catheter during surgery

Yes it is!! They put one in my toilet too, and said I needed to fill it up.

    Catheter during surgery

Well, I had my surgery Friday and when I was in the operating room, they did tell me they'd put a catheter in me as soon as I was out. Luckily, I never even felt a thing! By saturday morning, one of the nurses took it out of me and I was able to pee just fine.

    sleeved last night

I can't seem to burp. I have ALWAYS had a problem burping, and I can feel air is trapped in me. My mom just went to go buy me some gas-x strips, so I hope they help!!
  6. Did anyone here ever receive a card to use at restaurants? So they know that you've just had bariatric surgery, and to allow you to order from the children's menu, should you choose. I haven't had my surgery yet (Friday is the big day), but when I went for my Pre-op appointment, one of the coordinators gave one to me,and told me to make sure I write my name on it. I think it's so cool!! I'm going to try to not eat out, but it's great to have this.

    sleeved last night

Hey fellow 10/31er, I'm in the same boat! I thought I was doing pretty well at the hospital (with the self administer morphine med), but then this morning when they weaned me off of it and gave me ONE pain pill, that's when I realized I'm NOT doing so well. I don't know if it's soreness or gas, but two of my incisions bother me and when I dare move around, it seems all of them bother me.

    Catheter during surgery

Thank you both!!! It did say they will take it out once I can get up and walk around, so phew! My brother had the sleeve done too and he recovered quite well, so I hope I'm just as lucky.
  10. I have a one day pre-op diet. My surgeon went over it with me yesterday. I just have to stick with ALL liquids on Thursday, absolutely no food and then nothing at all once midnight hits.

Money out of pocket day of procedure

I hope they don't require me to pay anything either, because I have NO money right now!! I have Anthem Blue Cross, and they have told me nothing. A woman at my work, who had the surgery at the same place, looked it up for me and it said my sleeve was covered 100%, along with the assistant surgeon's fee. Who knows! I'll cry if they tell me I have to pay something on Friday.

    Surgery tomorrow! ????

Good luck!! My surgeon has only required an all-day liquid diet the day before as well.
  14. I think we're the only two who WON'T be indulging on candy!! My surgery is at 9:30 am, gotta be at the hospital by 7:30

    2014 October Surgery

10/31 for me!! Need to be at the hospital at 7:30, surgery is 9:30 am
  16. I'm gonna have to buy some of those strips. I planned on having a last rendezvous with food on Tuesday, but reading about your liver made me realize that I need to be aware of mine as well, because my surgeon is only requiring an all-day liquid diet the day before surgery. Thanks so much for posting this!!!

    Can we talk pre-op testing?

I had the endoscopy, and it went just fine!! I was SO sleepy though. After I got home, I slept for about 6 hours, woke up, and laid back down 2 hours later. I never felt a thing!

    Pre-Op Diet Yay or Nay?

I wonder why some doctors require a 5, 7, 14 or more pre-op diet?? I got a call from the hospital where my surgery is taking place, and I just have to do a liquid diet the day before.
  20. I attempted to call my insurance company yesterday, and I wasn't making any progress at all!! On the bright side, I checked the mail and ended up getting my approval letter. Good luck to those still waiting for a yay or nay!

    Surgery Tomorrow! !

    Awesome, congratulations!
  22. I called my Patient Care Coordinator this morning about a status update; she said she should hear something from the insurance tomorrow. I thought, awesome, wow, tomorrow!! I told her "alrighty Brenda, I'll give you a call Wednesday!" About an hour later, I'm going through the mail and there is something for me from my insurance, I'VE BEEN APPROVED! Or at least that's the impression I'm getting. I'm not sure what to do, do I call my PCC back? Do I just wait til tomorrow? Nope, I couldn't wait til tomorrow to call her again, so I called back, got her voicemail and I left her a message. She FINALLY called me back about 3 hours later and I read some of the information on the letter. Once I read the line that said my hospital stay was "medically necessary", she said "well, it looks like they did approve you!" I noticed on the letter it said October 24th, and she said "can you come in that day for surgery?" I paused for a second, panicking, because THAT IS THIS FRIDAY! But I told her that it was too short of a notice to give my boss, and then she said "what about October 31st? So, long story short..that's the big day!! Pre-op on Monday the 27th, surgery on the 31st at 9:30am (must show up by 7:30), and I already have my first two post-op appointments scheduled. WOW WOW WOW!! So much has gone on today.
  23. I'd like to call my insurance for an update to see if I've been approved. What information do I need?? I don't have to have a claim number, do I? My PCC sent out my paper work last week, and I'm getting anxious, so I'd like to call my insurance directly.
  24. I THINK my PCC might have sent over my paperwork to my insurance already. This morning (Thursday), I had a missed call from Anthem so I called them and after I answered a few questions from the automated message, I spoke with a rep who just wanted to make sure I know that they are available to "answer any questions you might have." My insurance has NEVER called me since I got it a few months ago...so...could be a total coincidence, but I hope my PCC calls me tomorrow and at least tells me whether she sent it over or not.
  25. Awesome! I hope you find out soon. My patient care coordinator told me on Monday that she was hoping to submit my paperwork by thursday, so I hope to hear something by next week! I have Anthem BC and one of the reps told me they have to respond within 5 business days.
