  1. I lost 100lbs and then regained. I'm not a failure and you are not. I converted to sleeve and it is MUCH better.
  2. Isn't that great! I love that I can say no now without feeling deprived. I'm in love with sugar free fudgsickles so I keep a box at home and remind myself I can have one when I get home for my treat.
  3. I was very nauseas for about 3 days. After that it came every once in a while like for 5 minutes after eating. Now it is rare (8 weeks out). Maybe once a week I'm slightly nauseas if I eat too quickly. I tended to get nauseas pre sleeve too.
  4. I was just like this. I'm about 8 weeks now and down about 30lbs. I can eat everything. Don't wait to feel "full" eat until you are satisfied. This has taken a mind adjustment for me too. I realize I can eat 2-3 oz of meat and some protein and some veg and be satisfied but not full. I am easily keeping my calories at 800 day and getting at least 60-80 grams of protein. That's all you need! No need for pain and discomfort to be successful!
  5. I did the same as you. Band out in April. Sleeved in June. Sounds like you have s great surgeon. Doing the surgery in 2 parts greatly reduces the chance of a leak. You will be fine! Good luck and come back with any questions.
  6. Love the idea of averaging it over a month.
  7. If you are anything like me you will be fine very soon. I was able to work after 3 weeks but I have a desk job and can work from hom. Also - I am 8 weeks out now and I think you will be fine to go on a cruise after 5 weeks. Good luck!
  8. Research your surgeon and follow his or her instructions. My surgeon said that 50% of leaks are caught while you are still in the hospital. The second half are generally caused by not following the rules (50% of the remaining complications). That leaves very good odds of being fine!
  9. Thanks that's good to know. I mean I know you have to try and not sit around and eat ice cream and gravy. You have to eat a lot of Protein. But after a while with the band, I have up and started eating crappy. Just don't want to carry that on to the sleeve. Probably going to drink protein shakes for a while even after the surgery when I'm able to. So I am very new. Just about 8 weeks out but I find that it is as effective as my band was when I had perfect restriction. Except now I can eat healthy fruits and vegetables and all kinds of Proteins without problems. I read on here about sleeve patients with all sorts of problems with eating and not getting in enough protein and vomiting. This hasn't been my experience even once. I don't know why that is but I guess I'm lucky.
  10. It's a major concern for me. I'm 8 weeks out and doing fine but the struggle is real. I lost all my weight with the band living alone and gained it back living with my husband. I don't blame him. There were many reasons for the regain but it sure is easier living alone! The kids food doesn't tempt me.
  11. I'm alone with my kids for a few days. I just tracked my calories for the day and i realize I am eating so much less without him around! Actually too low for today but I'll just add a protein snack later. I suffer from being influenced by other people's eating choices. This was an eye opener. Anyone else?
  12. It's nothing like the band. I share your fear though about eating around the sleeve. Constant vigilance is the key. I'm honestly saying that I am loving sleeve eating. I've had no intolerances. I would barely know I had surgery except in satisfied very quickly. I haven't really pushed it to "full" yet.
  13. I'm glad you picked your surgery and there is no wrong choice. However I don't think you should go into this expecting to reverse your bypass and I don't understand why the fact that your stomach was damaged by the band lead you to bypass. My decision to get the sleeve was based on the slower weight loss which requires me to make healthy food choices so that I don't become reliant on malabsorption which goes away in a year or so. Also the pouch from rny stretches much more easily than the sleeve because with the sleeve the greater curvature ( stretchy part) of your stomach is removed whereas with rny it is not. I personally know many people who have regained with rny for the reasons I stated. I just wonder why you keep posting this same thing over and over on the sleeve board if you are 100% confident in your decision. Best of luck!
  14. So true. My nutritionist said a correctly made sleeve doesn't stretch - it becomes slightly larger during the first year as you heal. Patients form bad habits 1) eating and drinking together, 2) slider foods, 3) grazing. This is very similar to regain or failure issues with band. What is true is that the loss of gherlin from the surgery lasts 6 months to 2 years only. Also, our bodies always will try to go back to the higher weight so that the above mentioned bad habits can be hard to resist.
  15. I think everyone gets the h pylori test.
  16. I love eating shellfish. Shrimp is very high in protein and low in fat and calories. I am 7 weeks out and have had it weekly or more since 4 weeks.
  17. I don't eat every 2 hours. Breakfast lunch and dinner. Occasionally a snack.
  18. I am a daily weigher and I am on vacation with no scale! 2 more weeks. I had just finished a long long stall at 7 weeks when I went away and lost 3lbs in days and maybe more but no scale. I'm feeling anxious about my progress. I am hoping for a very good number when I get home. I've been eating 700-800 per day. Pretty low carb and 70-80 grams of Protein a day all from meat, fish or eggs. The best nsv is that a few months ago this vacation would have killed me alone with my 3 and 5 year old all day. We are having a great and active time!
  19. It's how the band should have worked. I'm satisfied with 3oz of protein and a couple of ounces of veggies.
  20. Due to the surgery but it's usually just a few days and nothing compared to having the port sewn in.
  21. When I got my band 8 years ago it was rny or band. I was planning to have kids so the decision was easy. If I were making the decision now I would choose the sleeve.
  22. @@SWEETTEA would be surprised if someone else hasn't had that same fear about gaining weight back i do weigh daily worked for me (past tense) i would weigh and smile at the scale about 7 weeks ago # started to creep up i continued to weigh daily figuring that would help my accountability but, i gained a lb, gained a lb again and............... before i knew it, i was 8.3 lbs over goal!!! "forgot" to weigh every day, because i knew i was gaining i was ashamed and upset finally got back on the shtict and have lost 4.9 lbs!!! i'm standing here naked to the world with my confession kathy Good for you getting it back. Whenever I know I'm gaining I "forget" to weigh. Meant 100lbs for me after losing it all with band
  23. I like to weigh myself every day. It motivates me. Also when I weighed less frequently I did more justifying "I can eat this because I have 5 more days to eat right before I weigh in".. I don't think there is a right answer though.
