The fear of regain is REAL!
I think you will be ok simply because you are on this board and having this fear. I thought I was "cured". My band was very helpful and I lost weight so quickly. I was very active spinning and running 5 days a week. I didn't have the healthiest diet but still managed to lose weight rapidly. Then I had 2 kids and my band stopped working. I wasn't able to work out as much and there were some serious illnesses in my family. The combination caused the regain but I sort of gave up when I lost restriction too. never again! My nutritionist told me that it will be just as challenging to fight regain as ever so I am prepared. This time around I have reformed my eating. With the band healthy foods are challenging. With the sleeve I feel that I crave much healthier foods and I am not as interested in sweets. I do love food though. I love to cook and eat out.

The fear of regain is REAL!
I can use myself as a motivation. Although the technical failure was the reason mostly I was an equal partner in that. The pain of regaining was worse for me than being heavy to begin with.

Coffee?
I was allowed 12oz a day starting at 3 weeks out. In fact my nut suggested mixing protein powder.

Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!
This is an exciting one for me! Starting weight is 212. Goal is 199! Last week I missed my goal for the Halloween challenge and then lost 3lbs in one week! So weird.

GERD before VSG
This was me. I was a revision patient and on nexium for many years. When I revised they fixed my hernia and gerd is much better. At 3 month I started weaning off nexium. I take Zantac now as needed. Doctor said also as I lose weight the gerd should get better and it has. With my band my gerd was gone when I got under 200lbs and I'm hoping it will again. It is MUCH better now after hernia repair.

HELP! (No, it's not really THAT dramatic????)
Whenever I feel like something sweet I have an apple with either a teaspoon of peanut butter or a teaspoon of caramel sauce. By the time I've finished I'm so full and also fiber is good and my craving usually satisfied.

Getting closer to my Band to Sleeve revision...
I am a week behind Titan and female and I am down 45lbs pretty effortlessly. I haven't been hitting the gym as often as I like but I walk many miles each day. It's a good decision.

A friends WLS post op diet plan is causing a great bit of a WHOA! for me!
My post op diet was similar to friends. One week of full liquids, puréed for 2 weeks and after 3 week checkup phase in regular foods. I've done fine. I'm a revision patient also. I'd stay out of it even if you mean well.

Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!
Ok. I didn't make my goal this week. I was off by 1 lb!! I think I'm still going big and making my goal 199!! So my starting will be 215 and goal is 199. I'm pretty sue I won't make that since I've been averaging about 7lbs a month since month 2 but it would be awesome if I did! Steph: I'll be away from the 24th-January 4th so I'll just have to update my weight when I return.

Consequences of a Food Funeral
There really is no need for a funeral because most people can enjoy all foods in moderation.

How are you treated by people pre-surgery versus post-surgery?
When I lost and maintained with band 8 years ago I felt that men treated me better and women treated me worse. This time around I can't tell because I haven't lost enough yet.

For richer or poorer, in sickness & in health...
This is great! I wish my husband had done it with me. Just watch out because men lose so much more quickly than women. Don't compare yourself. But they don't get to have babies so I think it's worth it

sleeve success after revision from band with Gerd
I'm doing well I think. Down 43lbs or so in under 4 months. Could be faster but I feel healthier than with the band. Weaning off the nexium now.

can we never smoke?
Marijuana makes me hungry so that is a huge reason I wouldn't do it again. I think op was referring to electronic cigs.

The Plateau From Hell
Yes it is. Stalls happen all the time and for any length of time. It is very hard (I know) particularly if you are new because you might feel like you are doing something "wrong" or are "different". If you are on track with your plan you will start losing again. I promise! Hang in there!

Coffee Addiction ...
I was allowed to drink 16 oz of coffee starting 3 weeks after surgery. My nutritionist even recommended mixing the Protein into the coffee. I am a huge coffee addict. I must admit I go over my 16oz allotment now. I edited this to say that my surgeon's office told me that coffee isn't bad for you as long as you stay otherwise hydrated and it doesn't cause reflux. Actually coffee has a bunch of health benefits.

Halloween Challenge!
216.2 . My goal is going to be hard to reach this time if I keep up the current pace! Thanks again for doing this.

Steak?
I eat steak all the time starting at about 6 weeks.

Dating post-surgery?
I dated heavily with my lap band 8 years ago. I am married now. The following is so true: if the date is going great nobody pays attention to what anyone is eating. I would not mention a thing. Order something small with Protein and pick. Honestly before bariatric surgery I was distracted on dates and never ate much anyway. If you date someone for any leg nth of time you can decide.
