  1. Wow you are definitely a winner in so many ways! Congrats and best wishes!
  2. Although I had a very easy recovery with minimal pain, there was no getting around that fatigue. Everyone is different in life, and in recovery, so hang in there, it will definitely get better! And it is so worth it!
  3. I honestly don't know how long my surgery was, but the recovery was very easy. Like you, I expected it to be hard, but it wasn't. I had arranged to stay with family the first week as I had stairs. I ended up only staying the first night after discharge, and the next day I drove myself home. I was also able to sleep in a bed from the get go, when I'd read that so many others had to sleep in a recliner. It was my first surgery ever so I planned for the worst, but ended up getting the best.
  4. I remember the feeling when I first started out, and it's definitely something to be excited about! You're about to change your life for the better in a very big way! Harness that feeling and never let it go. Congrats!
  5. You are doing excellent! Keep up the good work! Every day is better than the one before. ????
  6. Hi Ebony! You were definitely in the express line to getting your bypass at only four weeks. Our stats are very similar. My HW was 248 and I was 216 on SD. My surgery (RNY) was on 07/29/15 (took me a year to get through my requirements) and as of this morning I'm 157. I had a very easy recovery as well and couldn't be happier. I have zero regrets. I feel and look younger, no longer pre diabetic, and my BP is perfect. I'm sure you will feel the same way too. The cravings are their most intense, along with the fatigue, over the first month, but it will get better day by day. Welcome to the loser's bench!
  7. In the end just know that you will have the last word on the subject, without ever having to say a word. It will be broadcast, far and wide, by your new healthy body and renewed life energy. Until then, just remember that this journey is yours and no one else's. No matter what the naysayers throw at you, they can never touch your resolve. They can never break you. If you have to give them any due, let it be sympathy. People who feel the need to belittle others only do so to hide their own shortcomings. Don't validate them with your response. You know how much you're changing and that's all that matters. Stay strong and best wishes!
  8. Congrats on getting the go ahead!
  9. You always know what to say in a positive manner. Thanks so much for your encouraging and supportive posts. They are always much appreciated. And thanks for the birthday wishes!!! Thanks so much! That was very kind of you to say. I have always appreciated your encouragement as well. ????
  10. You poor thing! Sure hope you're feeling better and lesson learned. And may I just say that you're an excellent writer - really made that whole thing vivid in my head.
  11. Although it's hard to believe now one day soon you'll have days when you forget you ever had surgery. Hang in there!
  12. I did my best but couldn't get that whole jug down. When I mentioned I hadn't finished the whole thing they said it wasn't a problem. Good luck!
  13. I know it's tough, but looking at the big picture, those foods didn't really represent comfort. What they really represent is bad health and aching joints and pain, both internal and external. It's true what they say about "a moment on the lips, but a lifetime on the hips" or any other place on the body you so choose. What you're giving up in exchange for extra years in your life cannot compare. Hang in there and here's wishing you a very happy birthday!
  14. Worrying that if I have to get on the floor for some reason that I won't be able to get back up again. Feeling that awful drag of weight just trying to turn over in bed.
  15. Best of wishes on your surgery day!
  16. I made the decision upfront to only tell a select few. I haven't regretted it once.
  17. I'm nearly five months out and haven't lost a single strand. Sure hope it continues!
  18. Congrats - sounds like you have your ducks all in a row! You have such a lovely family too!
  19. Congrats on your great accomplishment!
  20. Feels great, doesn't it ???? Congrats!
  21. Never had any buyer's remorse. My recovery was also so much easier and pain free than I expected. I'd do it again in a heart beat.
  22. That's so wonderful - congrats!
