tshine01 reacted to jacquelynn.mclean in 4 months post op and I'm pregnant
I got pregnant 2 weeks after being sleeved. During the pregnancy I lost about 50lbs. Some of the docs were worried because I was so ill and my food intake was limited. Just eat right when you can. Usually the baby won't go without because it takes from you and whatever you have stored.
I ended up with an 8lb, 8oz perfectly healthy boy. There's not AS much to worry about with a sleeve compared to the bypass.
And don't let them tell you that because you're sleeved you have to have a c-section. I've heard if people being told that.

I truly believe exercise if done well is much more powerful and effective then what people think. It firstly suppresses your appetite and secondly it keeps you on track with your eating and thirdly it speeds up your metabolism. So I believe it's much more then just making you healthy.

Wow 49 pounds in 8 weeks, when I read that I was thinking that is incredible. I'm still in the waiting phase having to do the 6 months of diet documentation, It sounds like your doing great to me that seems like a lot of weight in 8 weeks. Your doing wonderful!

It amazes me how different Drs are. I was on 3 weeks liquid, 3 weeks pureed foods , 3 weeks soft foods and after 3-4 months I got salads. Our pouches are very fragil after surgery and most of us have worried about stretching them out. But I am sure you are following your Drs suggestions. My first meal out was chicken noodle Soup with no noodles.

I can't believe how good I feel. I was up and walking the evening after surgery and only took two doses of the heavy pain killers. I was released from the hospital yesterday and but for a bit of grogginess... I'm doing great now at home. I've been doing my walking, drinking my Water and Protein Drinks. Tonight I liquefied some Soup and had a few sips of that. But I cannot believe how good this is going so far. It's hard not to think the other shoe will drop... But has anyone else had an easy go of surgery and post op?

Hi there. After a six month journey to prepare, I'm scheduled for surgery on December 29th. I'll begin a 1200 calorie diet on 12/15 and a two day liquid diet on 12/27 (two days prior to surgery). How many years did weight loss top my resolution list? But this time will be different...my body will cooperate and I'll learn a new way of feeding and caring for it. I can't say I'm nervous, but I'm definitely excited. A new, healthy me in 2015. Sounds pretty wonderful.

@ MrsB2007 Lol that is so funny,& that is so me ha ha, I talk about it just about every single day. I know I drive my husband crazy the closer I get the worse I get. I look at my little check list paper at least once day, I'm on the internet youtube videos blogs etc. I've done all my requirements except I have one last appointment on Dec 16th this coming Tuesday which was part of my 6 months diet documentation evaluation, then I'm done, and they can submit the auth request to my insurance. I can't wait until Tuesday I want the weekend to fly by lol. I can't imagine how I'm going to be while I'm waiting to see if it's approved, I'm thinking like did I do everything right etc etc. LOL..

I'm able to drink almost as before, but as I gulp, I remember I'm not supposed to do that anymore! Then I stop myself. It is strange, but sometimes I wonder if I actually had the surgery...

tshine01 reacted to James Marusek in If my protein drink is my meal, do I need to wait 30 minutes before I start drinking my water?
Generally a Protein drink is a Fluid and so it qualifies for both the Protein and the Fluid daily requirements. It is not really your meal but if you are at the beginning of the program, you meal allocation is so small you might be skipping meals. You do not have to have a 30 minute delay between Protein drinks and Water, but when you start meals you will need that delay.

Sorry I just need to rant.. My husband is probably SO sick of hearing me obsess over everything..Who is with me?! Surely I'm not the only one!
Oh man! 2 more weeks until my last weigh in. phew. Now that's off my chest... Lets see...............
    >> Psych Eval done & passed
    >> Nutritionist visit(s) done
    >> sleep study (no sleep apnea!)
    >> 5 other monthly weigh ins & supervised diet completed
    >> food journaling done
    >> Met with surgeon
Now, I go back and obsess over every single thing. What did I miss? I feel like something wasnt done! My weight jumped up and down (very few lbs in either direction). I again obsess over that! Hmm..Lets start a list of what I have obsessed over, and researched until I was blue in the face!
    >> Making sure every appointment was made and I actually went as scheduled.
    >> Insurance requirements... What does the internet say (other patients) vs my doctors office?
    >> Will I be denied due to weight gain (even though I've lost it...weight gain due to depo shot & other surgery preventing as much exercise)?
    >> Will the insurance go by other factors (as comorbidities besides the typical high blood pressure, diabeties, sleep apnea, etc)??
    >> DR's office & website both say theres about 30 comorbidities that insurance will look at besides the above. If thats the case, I'm good on that aspect. I figure the DRs office knows what they are talking about...but still nerve racking.
FYI: insurance website says up to 2 weeks for decision. DRs office says once approval is received then surgery will be 1 week after.
Okay now that rant is done (for now- HA HA)............ What did you obsess over and over and over about?

Hi there fellow Migraine sufferers! I too had them very bad prior to surgery, about 5 days per week consistently. As soon as I started my Liquid Protein diet they improved greatly and I did not have one for almost 6 weeks. I had my surgery on 9/29, I have had 3 headaches since then. My neurologist believes it has everything to do with our high Protein low carb diet. The 3 headaches I have had occurred during a really bad cold and were triggered by a sinus issue. It is still pretty early for me to tell but I would tell you they have improved greatly. It has been one of the best benefits of the surgery so far. Migraines suck as you know!

I am home. VERY tough. Stomach very sore, still have not passed gas so buildup in the abdomen is very
painful. This surgery is tough. I am sure that a few days from now I will feel better but right now I am
miserable. Walking, focusing on Fluid and Protein intake.

How you doing on the liquids? I can't seem to find a Protein Drink that is not icky! They are tolerable, but just have a horrible after taste and they are too thick. This is our 4th day of these drinks and I am already tired of them. How bout you?

Tshine, I'm the same way. I've got my husband on board and he's going through the whole process with me. Sometimes I get so nervous that something will happen to HIM in the operating room and it makes me so scared. Like..complications on my side don't scare me as much as thinking that something may happen to him because of MY bright idea, ya know?
The closer it gets the more excited I get. But the closer I get the more and more and more I think about scary parts. A year ago, I wouldn't have had a second thought. I knew I wanted a bypass and I knew as soon as I had insurance that would pay I would start the process and that would be that. Now i feel like I'm almost TOO informed lol.
Positive thoughts. This IS a good decision and I know that it will be okay! For you! And me! And my hubs. . Keep the faith, girl
