Gendy reacted to AvaFern in plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!
I have always enjoyed reading your posts and I am so sad for you that you had such a jerk plastic surgeon! I just had plastics last month and I met with my surgeon in June and he never once made me feel like I was gross or anything at all negative. He has very much let me dictate what I was concerned about and offered solutions based on my issues- I cannot imagine him ever acting like your surgeon did! Also, while I am fortunate in that I was able to pay for the entire procedure out of pocket (insurance would not have paid for any of mine), my doctor has actually suggested less expensive procedures than I originally wanted. He even completed a few things during surgery that he didn't bill me for. I still have one more procedure left in November, and while he could have sold me on a few more things, there was never once any pressure or even suggestion that I should have more done than I had asked about.
Your surgeon is an unprofessional ass and an office that has a culture that revolves around money is not an office that is likely doing very well financially. I'm pretty sure my doctor does very well financially, but it's because he is SO super nice and laid back and the entire office makes you feel like you matter. You should never have to work with a PS that does not make you feel happy and excited about the procedure, let alone one that makes you feel downright awful!
If you live anywhere in the Southeast part of the country, send me a message and I will send you my doctor's info. He's rated as one of the best in the country and people travel from all over for his reconstruction work with cancer patients. He did a beautiful job with my surgeries, but most also importantly, he doesn't make me feel like I am a wrinkly, ugly, extra skin, stretched out tube sock that I sort of was before surgery. My doctor is awesome and you should not even consider settling until you find a PS that makes you feel like the wonderful person you are.

Gendy reacted to thesupportedhalf in Weight gain after sleeve
Ok, so I was sleeved in December 2012, I followed everything exactly how it should of been, my diet was 100% spot on BUT I never ever felt restrictions never felt nausea never had dumping. My meals got bigger and bigger and started to eat what ever I wanted, I lost 50kgs and gained 50kgs. Went back to my surgeon who did swallow tests and blood tests to see why but just referred me to another surgeon. I did the cream rice test and stopped eating cause I wanted to not because I felt full. Surgeon said that although the sleeve was only 5 months old, it was like a sleeve of 12 months. I continued to put on weight. Now I am 1 week away from having an Omega loop bypass and can't wait, I really hope this helps me change my life. Just to mention, it's really easy for people to say "do it on your own, you don't need surgery" well I am an ex personal trainer and studied nutrition, yes I know what I'm suppose to do but can't do it alone

I just have severe heart burn and of course the usual food getting stuck. Not a lot compared to some people. But I'm not losing weight either. In fact I lost 80 and gained back 30, so I need to get the sleeve soon. I have lost 20 lbs since July, but it sure hasn't been easy.
    What problems are you having?

Try cacao powder. I mix it in my Decaf and I am weird for sound after that. LOL
No caffeine in it. Or try teecinno. It has chicory root which works a lot like cacao.

I titrated myself off of coffee SLOWLY. I drank 3/4 caffeinated for a week, then 1/2 caffeinated for a week and then 1/4 for a week until I was down to plain decaff. It WAS hard because I'm an avid coffee drinker. After I was 3 months out I was allowed caffeine again but every doctor is different. I was so glad I got off the caffeine BEFORE surgery because you don't need to be dealing with headaches or caffeine withdrawal AFTER surgery.
Good luck with your surgery. I hope it goes well and you have an easy recovery,
    Kathleen

Hello, I'm 5 months out and I have ONE cup of regular coffee a day, in the morning. I have no negative issues with this. The only problem you may have is that if you drink this it may interfere with your other liquids or your Breakfast ie Protein intake. It is unrealistic to me that I cannot have certain things that I enjoy. This surgery has enabled me to know what moderation is. This is just me and I am not trying to tell anyone else to do anything that their doc says to do or not to do.

Gendy got a reaction from BeagleLover in Going thru the process of lap band to Gastric Sleeve
Hello everyone, I am new to this but want to get more involved as I take my journey to Gastric Sleeve. I am 49 years old and had the band put in in January of 2009. I lost 80 pounds, but gained back 30 pounds. I've had the band revised as it was leaking the saline solution in 2013. I now am ready to get rid of the band and all it's issues and move on to the Gastric Sleeve. In reading the forum, it sounds as if most of the people are pretty happy with the Sleeve. I just have to go to the dietician one more time and then can get my paper work submitted to the insurance company. I'm nervous that they won't approve me. I look forward to talking with everyone.
