Symptoms of slipped bands
I'm not sure what it was for me... Reflux was my first symptom. I didn't overeat (but I did eat too fast sometimes) and I definitely wasn't overfilled (.4cc's in a 4cc band when I slipped). I had fluctuating restriction (tight in morning, loose at night) and pain for a few hours a day gradually changing into pain all day over the course of about a week. It all happened very quickly.

Home from hospital - my band slipped.
Hey guys, thanks for all the well wishes. Susan, that's an excellent question about my stitches - I will have to ask when I go in for my follow up in a few weeks. We talked about it before my surgery, but they never confirmed that they were pulled loose. My new band is the same size as before (4cc capacity). Jerseytammy, I'm not sure how the different insurances work with revisions. I'm lucky - I have UHC and they will cover the new band. I have to follow the same diet as the first time around, but I'm so relieved to still have a band I don't mind. I'm sure I'll change my tune when the appetite returns in a few days. I'm already scared to get a fill - think they'll put in .1cc at a time? I tried to answer any questions but I'm still spacey - feel free to PM me. I love you guys.

Home from hospital - my band slipped.
Hi everyone, I just returned home after a 4 day stay in the hospital. I was having bad reflux and stomach pain last week, so I went in to get it checked out. As I suspected/dreaded, my band had slipped. I had band revision surgery on Tuesday and was released this morning. So far, so good... the pain isn't quite as bad as it was with my first banding. They put in a new band but kept the old port, so that could have something to do with the decrease in pain. The doctors don't know why my band slipped. I've PB'd 3 times in the 8 months since my original surgery, but those were months ago. I don't drink pop or take NSAID's (in case you were wondering! ) If there's one thing I'm guilty of it's eating too quickly on occasion. I think I'm just one of the unlucky "1-3%" we're always hearing about. Time for sleep. :notagree

My (not so) Secret Skinny Dream
Oh, this is a great thread!! I will... Buy clothes that reflect my age instead of my weight. Buy a bathing suit and wear it out in public. Buy a pair of Jimmy Choo high heels - just because! Visit my ex-boyfriend at work and let him drool. Ride a rollercoaster again. Go skiing. Go to my high school reunion.

Nontraditional Curse Words
I have a 5 year old so I have to be careful... He learned all of his "swear words" from Spongebob. When he gets frustrated he yells "Oh, barnacles!" or "Tartersauce!".

American Idol
I don't know who's going to win, but my favorite performances last night were Chris and Katherine. Please, pleeeeeeeease will they dump Kevin already? I'll never understand how he made it this far.

Happy Bandiversary darlin! That's an amazing list of NSV's - and certainly not the list of someone who has given up. Congrats! All hail the queen! :hail: :hail: :hail:

Unsupportive family members!!
I'm guessing that they've always been extremely judgemental of you and your husband. You are an adult with the right to privacy. You had no obligation to tell them anything. Kudos to DH for standing by you through this. They were obviously just stirring up the pot again because they didn't get you crying and begging their forgiveness the first time around. Your kids will be fine without them in their lives. I would LOVE to see this on Dr. Phil though...

Ouch!!!
Donna, you poor thing! Is there anyway you can take a few more days off of work? Your body went through a lot, and it sounds like you need to rest, and as NaturalBeauty said, walk as much as you can. My gas pains went away after about 2 weeks, but it's going to vary from person to person. Hang in there - it will get better every day. (((HUGS)))

A question for after surgery
I wear a lot of yoga pants. I buy them at Silhouettes.com. They have elastic at the back but don't pull at all in the front, so they were really comfy post surgery. I had a hard time with dresses because of the dreaded "thigh rub" so pants worked best for me. Here's a link: http://www.silhouettes.com/Parent.asp?product=503449x&dept%5Fid=2200&An=102&A=9139&Au=RollupKey

Wow, could they be any cuter? Thanks for sharing!

Got 1st negative remark...
Yup - she was jealous before you had surgery and she's still jealous now. Try to take it as a compliment. In all seriousness though, you should try to talk to her about it. There are obviously issues, and if she's going to make you feel badly about yourself then you need discuss it and decide whether or not you want to continue the friendship.

Outcome of what happened with surgeon today.
JoAnn & Lena, I'm so sorry that you're losing your bands. Remember, like Sue said there are other options out there for you. Good luck with your decision. ((((HUGS))))

American Idol
I was really surprised that Gideon was voted off. I never expected him to make it all the way, but he deserved to be in the top 12 over Kevin. I hope Paris picks a good song this week. She has a beautiful voice, but you'd never know it based on the last few performances. My prediction for the final 4: Ace, Lisa, Chris, & Mandisa. How many get voted off next week now that they're down to 12?

This is a question for the ladies outhere
I take liquid extra strength tylenol when I have cramps. It works well for me, although my cramps aren't severe. Pamprin and Aleve are both NSAID's, and I was told to avoid these after banding.

recently banded......
Hi Northernsun! Welcome to LBT and congratulations on your surgery. You sure are losing fast! You're going to be in the 200's before you know it.

WHAT am I doing SO wrong here?????
You're doing exactly what you should by sticking to liquids. It sounds like you need an unfill. Hopefully your tummy is just swollen from the PB's and needs a break. Good luck to you tomorrow! I'm sure he will do a barium swallow to see what's up. Keep us posted! ((((HUGS))))

frozen dinners?
I like Spicy Black Bean veggieburgers with mustard. They can be nuked in 45 seconds and they're quite high in protein. Yum!
