  1. What major changes took place in your life after bariatric surgery? (Other than losing weight of course.)
  2. Mike4132

    It's getting real now

    Same to you, thanks!

    What changed in your life?

That is very cool! After surgery I probably won't try to wear summer dresses.......and my wife would probably object to any dating......but I'm definitely hoping for some major changes apart from just the weight loss. It sounds like this has been a life changer for you and it's very encouraging to hear! Congratulations by the way!

    It's getting real now

Got my insurance approval today...........holy crap.....I was beginning to convince myself they would deny me since I had a 4 lb net gain during the six month weight loss trial. I heard Aetna was adamant about no net gain but it doesn't seem to be the case. I was too busy at work today to let it hit me but I'm sure by tomorrow it will really set in when I get my surgery date.

Congrats man! I'll be close behind you now. Just got approved today. I hope I lose as quickly as you. Keep us posted!

    Waiting from approval from ins(aetna)

There is hope. I just got approved by Aetna today even with a 4 lb gain over the 6 month weight loss trial.

    Waiting from approval from ins(aetna)

Uh oh.....I just had paperwork submitted to aetna and gained 4lbs during the 6 month trial. Do they automatically deny for weight gain? I thought I saw other posts indicating people were still approved with Aetna even with gain but now I can't find them.... If denied, what options are there?

    Beat thing i ever did!

You look 20 years younger! Amazing
  10. I feel your pain on that one. Same thing happened to me. Congrats on your surgery date, I'm envious! Waiting for insurance approval here.

Aetna...What did you do to get approved?

My paperwork was submitted today by my Dr's office and I have Aetna Choice POS II. I will let you know how it goes. They are submitting: -documented BMI of 40 with sleep apnea as a co-morbidity -psych eval -nutritionist visit eval -6 month weight loss trial results -2 years of height /weight info showing obesity levels of weight -letter of medical necessity (from the weight loss trial Dr.) I hope all goes well but we'll see. My Dr office claims Aetna is usually easy to work with for approvals. They are estimating 2-4 weeks for a decision. I'll be calling Aetna on Monday to see if they received the info.

    What your look forward for?

I'm adding that to my list too!
  13. There is no more dangerous a creature on this earth than a bariatric patient on pre or post op liquids........
  14. Don't you just love those types of comments! I especially like when people remind me that "if you just eat less and work out more you will lose weight naturally. Have you tried that?" I want to reply with "Wow, that is amazing! Where did you ever learn that? No one ever told me that secret knowledge before, you may be on to something here. Have you ever considered sharing your knowledge with the public? " It's either that or send them to the throat punching ladies from one of the previous threads........that would take care of it.

    What your look forward for?

Being able to tolerate heat in the summer. Being 100 lbs overweight in 100degree Florida summertime sucks! Going to water parks with my kids. Roller coasters. Losing the moobs. Won't miss them.....

    Told my coworkers

I've told a few co-workers and all I heard was: Please don't do that, you can do it on your own! (From the same people who criticized any diet I was ever on prior to this.) Just join crossfit instead. You aren't THAT fat. What can I do to talk you out of surgery? Don't you know that everyone gains all their weight back after bypass? Just look at ___________. I've had to tell several of them to zip it. Overall I don't care what they think as long as I become healthy and active again!

Dropped 3 pants size in 2 months

This one of the most encouraging threads I've read so far. Thanks for all your stories! should be having surgery by the end of the year if insurance approval goes through. Just finished all lab work and the end of a 6 month weight loss trial. Only thing left now is the scope and insurance approval. This is starting to be very real and I'm both nervous and excited. I'm really looking forward to dropping back to normal waist sizes and weight though.
  18. I hate when people make comments like that. It never feels good even when you try to not let it bother you.
  19. 1.). Not being able to do anything outside during the summer without feeling like I'll die. 2.). Being too embarrassed to go to Water parks with my kids......and realizing I don't have many more years left before they grow up and it's too late. 3.) Realizing I couldn't buy clothes in regular stores anymore 4.) And the absolute worst: Not being able to fit in a regular roller coaster seat at Bush Gardens and waiting with my humiliated daughter for them to cut in a special "fat" car while hundreds of people waited. I'm hoping to have surgery by the end of the year to be done with this once and for all! Last 6 month weight loss trial visit scheduled next week and scope scheduled for Oct 3rd. Getting closer but it still seems so far away........
