jacole1820 replied to RoseCity Girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:clap2: good for you! how great! congrats...it must be an awesome feeling. hopefully i'll post this same post in the next couple of weeks. -
well, i had my eye opening experience the other day. i have lost 10 lbs on my 6 month medically supervised diet, but i have started to gain again. anyway.......my boyfriend and i went to burger king for lunch ( i know, bad in itself) and i had a king size whopper meal. not good to begin with....but then i still wasn't satisfied so i had ANOTHER value meal in the same sitting!!! i have never done that before. that was basically the end for me. im so glad i decided to get the band. my paperwork is being submitted in 2 weeks, so hopefully they say yes. anyway..just thought i would share. what was your eye opening experience??? thanks for letting me vent.

When did the surgeon submit to the insurance company?
jacole1820 replied to Poopsie's topic in Insurance & Financing
well, they have to wait for your sleep study results to come back to submit that to insurance too. they won't submit it until EVERYTHING is in their hands to send. Otherwise, the insurance will likely deny due to not all the evidence submitted. good luck. -
not sure if this helps, but i just got home from my support group meeting. they said that that will happen for up to the 1st 2 weeks! there's a lot of gas in there from the surgery! hope i helped.

suturing band in position????
jacole1820 replied to penny2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my band i will be getting doesn't have "wings" but it will be sutured in place. it def helps with slipping, especially because of all the swelling at first. i hope to be banded right after the new year too....good luck! -
well congrats on making the decison to undergo this. my paperwork is being submitted in january, so i'm almost there. good luck and keep us all posted.
-
hi. i have a suggestion for you. i got all my 5 year history from all sorts of docs. everytime i went to urgent care, any doctor. just think of any kind of doctor you have ever gone to in the past 5 years or so. hope this helps.
-
hello. i am not banded yet, but from all my research and reading on this board, it is too soon after your surgery to feel the effects yet. It will subside and you might not feel restriction until after you have had a fill or two. be patient....i cant wait to be in your shoes!

I read some posts on here regarding her and her office. i have had no problems. she did my uncle's bypass, and she was very nice. i'm kinda scared now! so far so good. my 4th appt for my 6 month wl program is this week....so i'm almost there! any other opinions on her or her office?
-
I called them to verify that the band was covered as well as the bypass, and it is! 100% covered! i am so excited! hopefully they will approve it the first time.

hi all. i've been posting for a few weeks on here now, but not under the AZ posts. i am a 24 years old female who has been overweight for about 24 years now! =) i am going through scottsdale bariatric with dr. balckstone. i am almost done with my 6 month program and am getting very nervous. i know it will be hard post op, but it cant be harder than not being able to fit in clothes, or sleeping with a CPAP, or...........i can go on and on. well, hope to talk to all of you at some point.
-
im sure this has been asked a million times, but do you think you will need extra skin taken off after the band? and if so, how often is it covered by insurance? i heard not very often. thanks!
-
hi! i am so glad you are so optimistic about the process. i feel the same way. i have 2 months left of my 6 month mwl program and i should be set. im on the hunt right now for my sleep study report from a few years ago, but then thats it. good luck....i know it will be worth it for us!
