  1. Oh sorry I should have clarified- I meant the environmental/seasonal.
  2. Hey all, I haven't seen any posts about if people's allergies have gotten any worse or better since being sleeved? What about asthma? I have read some about cpaps but that's not really what I am looking for. Thanks!
  3. Hi there, I am in the middle of my 14 day liquid preop diet as we speak, (10/20 is my big day) and I have 8 oz ones for the main three and 3 4 oz ones for Snacks. I have to use the Bariatric Advantage ones that I add sugar free torani syrup to so I don't get so bored with them. I can also have a cup of specific veggies with lunch and dinner and thats it. Hope this helps! I would check with your dr office/ nut and see what they say?
  4. @@krimrod Me too please
  5. Thanks for the help! I know I'm not going to be swimming laps or anything lol
  6. Hey all, thanks in advance for the input... My question is how long post op does one have to wait until swimming is ok? I ask because my son has a soccer tournament a few hours away for a weekend and the hotel that we're staying at has an indoor pools and both my kids love water (one is 9 and can swim alone but the other is 5 and needs some help). I know I can just sit on the sides with my feet in the water, but wasn't sure about waist high or anything. Oh yeah, I'll be just a few days short of 3 weeks post op by then. I have my preop on 10/14 so will ask the Dr then, I would just like everyone's input from here as well.
  7. the mug warmer is to keep your plate/food warm since its going to take you so long to eat something and dont want to have to keep getting up to reheat or eat it cold according to my NUT.
  8. Thanks for al the input everyone. I'm 10 days until surgery and have been trying to prepare myself for whats in the future for me.
  9. I'm 5'1 as well lol. I started all this in july, will have my surgery on 10/20. I'm on my liquid diet right now, as of this morning I am at 246, down from 255. Good luck
  10. dreeves, have you tried colace? (generic is docusate) In general its for constipation, but my surgeon ok'd it for post op.
  11. Emtabulous, My date is 10/20 as well! I did have a bit of a freak out and splurged on some things I knew I wouldn't be able to have for a long time. I agree- food commercials are the worst! I'm on day 3 of my 2 week liquid diet and I have to look away from the tv when they come on lol.. A trick my NUT gave to us in our class was rate your food on a scale from 0-10. 0 being wouldn't it on a deserted island, 10 being your most fav food ever (could eat a whole pan/container/tray of it). She said stay away from 0-3 & 8-10. Pick your 5- something you would eat and not go back for seconds. For me that is shrimp. So when my head hunger is getting the best of me, I figure out if I am hungry enough to eat shrimp. The answer is usually no, and that helps me quite a bit. Seems silly sometimes I know, but hey if it works right?
  12. twinderful, have you tried taking Emetrol? its a liquid anti-nausea that I give to my daughter for car sickness. Its usually over by the tums and ppis and whatnot at the store. I also use sf torani syrups in my shakes to mix it up, so that might help? 17 more days for us! The 20th will be here before we know it
  13. I have a 2 week liquid diet I have to do. Its almost all protein shakes that I got from my Drs office and 1-2 cups of veggies until 3 days before surgery then its straight protein shakes. For 2 weeks.. :/ Sorry I'm still wrapping my head around it lol. I start that on 10/5, with surgery on 10/20.. I'm a little jealous of the people that only have to do a low carb diet or a few days of liquids.
  14. Thank you so much! You've given me a lot to think about tonight and when I'm scouring the forums for info. Again, thank you so very much I'm on my phone, not my laptop, so do you mind letting me know how much you lost?
  15. I would love to have a mentor on here. My MIL had rny about 10+ years ago so some of the things she can't help me with. I just turned 28 and I have 2 kids, my surgery date is 10/20/14, so I am starting to get really nervous about everything. How did you deal with it? I cant start my liquid 2 week diet until 10/5, and am so not looking forward to it as I dont do well with being really hungry. That being said, I'm afraid I'm not going to do as well as I want to with this. Ive seen some people say that they are hungry all the time and honestly I was relying on the surgery to make that go away, at least for a while. Im the type of person that once I start thinking about food, like a specific item, thats all I can think about until I have it. I've been getting better on not doing that, but I'm afraid that 6 months out I'll be back to old habits and undo everything that i've went through. Any advice?? Thanks so much
  16. Dont lose hope!!! It felt like mine took forever too.. My last appt with my dr was 8/18, got approved for surgery on 9/5, and finally just got a call for scheduling last week. He is so far booked that my surgery date isnt until 10/20 which I'm trying to be very happy about but am a little bummed it is so far away it seems like. I would use this time to practice the things you will have to learn to do after, such as waiting 30 mins after eating to drink. And working on exercising more. I hate it. I hate sweating. But I'm slowly working my way towards it. I've been watching an episode of a show on netflix while im on the treadmill and that's been helping so far. Good luck and hope you get a date soon
  17. @@twinderful My date is 10/20 also I'm going to start my liquid on 10/5.. I had my gall bladder out a few years ago and it was totally worth it. Not sure how bad yours has gotten, but mine was so bad that I almost had to go to the ER. Hopefully you can have it taken out at the same time. It's a good thing for you since you wont be able to eat high fat foods or it'll make you really sick gall bladder wise, and sleeve wise since you wont be able to eat those things anyway, so its like a double incentive lol... Good luck everyone
  18. Hello all, I got approved by ins for my surgery on 9/5, just got my date of 10/20.. I have to do my pre-op app with my dr on 10/14 and the hospital admit tests of an x-ray and ekg at the facility where I will be having it done. Starting my liquid diet on 10/5, which is a catch 22 since I am not looking forward to that part but at the same time, its nice since I wont have to worry about what to eat or anything. Good luck everyone
