Before and After Pics
Let's see if I can get this to work. I started off at 316 (top Hawaii picture). On April 1st had the surgery and now down to 225. I'm so pumped up. I was in a wheel chair about 12 years ago and learned how to walk like a baby. So to be able to get up and out, and to get back down to my military or detective weight is awesome.

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I'm 8 months post and now 85 lbs down. You do what you gotta do because nothing can prepare you for the surgery. Good luck to you and have fun shedding the weight.

Beach Time? Or Not?
Well I went and hit the waves. No issues.
-
Did they really take half my tummy?
I had the same issue but have lost 41 lbs since April 30. I asked my doc at two week appt if he left more than 15% because I was a big guy and he said no. He gave me the normal deal. So its just time. Good luck and be careful with what you can tolerate.

Day 6 post op...stabbing pain when drinking
Sips not gulps. Sometimes small gulps will do it to us. I forget and try to guzzle down 2 or 3 gulps and forgetting about surgery and it feels like I was stabbed in the chest.

Will I still be able to drink lots of water?
It's gonna be a whole new world. Remember the days of gulping down Water from a hose? Or after playing outside in the summer sun and slamming down some ice cold drink. Even months after surgery, you can't gulp. Gotta sip. I live in AZ, so we get to about 115 in the summer and I coach football. I'm use to guzzling down gallons. Now I gotta sip gallons. Can't wait to see how that is gonna end. Good luck to you.

What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Once a cheater always a cheater. Two days post, I couldn't take the broth anymore, so I went to Sonic and ordered a Jr. Cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup and onions. I chewed each bite about 20 times and spit it all back into the bag. Pretty nasty, but the taste, woooo weee. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. Awesome. But to actually eat, 5 days out, went to this great seafood place to Celebrate a major event in our family and had oysters on a half shell. Went down smooth of course and sat well. That was the same fat kid in the candy shop, but actually eating the candy.

"New" Relationship Status
So, it is said that some people who lose a lot of weight gain the self security and corresponding attitude within themselves to be more open to others of the opposite sex. Has anyone left their spouse or significant other because of their new weight loss?

Beach Time? Or Not?
Thanks Goldy. I'm healed and got the clear from my doc. I use to surf growing up and although I don't hit the beach everyday, I still surf and I know my daughter keeps begging me to teach her, so this is the time.

Transition
This was before the weight gain and injuries that led to the gain. After 14 years of gaining, it was time to have the surgery and get back down to my old self.

Post op day 3 and struggling
My first week was like going through boot camp (hell week) all over again. I'm not being a smart butt when I say this, but I actually watched the travel channel and was watching Andrew Zimmer all week. I was seeing all the weird foods and other foods he was eating. It actually helped me to not want to eat. As weird as that sounds, it worked for me. I'm retired, so being at home with nothing do really put that burden on me. If you are in Christ, pray. If you not, nows a good time to just ask for some prayer and mercy to overcome a few more days buddy. Good luck.

Beach Time? Or Not?
So I know we were told swimming pools about 8 weeks. Our own pool around 4 weeks, but what about the beach? Any one have any info on that? I tried to google some info, but only came back with some alley doctor advice. Thanks.

Help, dont know what to eat!
I'm down about 30 lbs in 3 weeks since surgery. I saw my doctor a few days ago and he has cleared me for exercise (played golf on Saturday) and he has also cleared me for foods because of how well I am doing. It varies from person to person. I have seen some people who were in so much pain still, and then there are those who walked out in under 24 hours (me) from the hospital. To obviously avoid any issues, investigate online what doctors recommend if yours is not very helpful. Stay within the weekly parameters and you should do fine to see what you can tolerate. A few days ago, I tried to eat some really soft grounded up meat that had a bit of bbq sauce on it to add flavor and i blocked myself and that was not good. So you really have to safely do trial and error. Good luck.

Dumping Syndrome
Well, we can't eat like we use to. When you hog down on your food and not chew it down to small sizes, it will block the heck outta your stomach and you will puke. So by chewing at least 20 bites, you break things apart, slows down your eating so you get fuller faster.

Dumping Syndrome
This was the first time I forgot to really count chews. I WILL NEVER forget again. It hurt that bad. No diarrhea for me. I puked for about 10 seconds. No acid. it was done. I felt normal after that. But remember, all people all different.

Dumping Syndrome
It was pretty much both. BBQ ribs. lol. sauce and fatty. Not smart. Could be blockage. I lost track of how I chewed.

Dumping Syndrome
I had my first experience last night. Ate too fast and the pain felt like a tightness in my chest and rose in pain and stayed for about 10 seconds then died down. Then started over and died down. This was for about 15 minutes. I was sweating and sitting in front of a fan. Finally I puked and felt better. It was my fault and I ate the same thing today but slower. You really just have to retrain your life.

Surgery in 3 hours
I am very happy. I am actually very fortunate or just truly blessed by some amazing earthly physician and Heavenly Physician. I have had zero pain and have been so successful that I have moved on to food already. I haven't had any pain while eating or drinking. Doc called me up today and just said he must have been on his Super A Game. Each incision was cut to perfect length, each staple is perfect, there is nothing to complain about.

Incision tape removal
Doing great!!! Tolerating everything and no pain. Very fortunate. 1 week out and moved to puree foods. Loving life once again. How 'bout yourself? Hanging in there?
