I have the same question about Biotin. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but both of my toenails on my big toes have separated from the nail bed. I had to see a podiatrist yesterday. He said it wasn't fungal and said it was probably because of the surgery and suggested I take Biotin. I did call my surgeon and am waiting for the office to call me back. I really hope my hair doesn't start to fall out too
On a good note, I hit 40lbs over the weekend!! Very excited for that. Can't wait to see 50 and 60 lbs. less.

Hey guys! Woke up this morning thanking God for this new opportunity at life. Just a few things. I ate dinner and was stuffed, but realized that I no longer have that super bloated, pregnant look after I eat. Even though I feel full, I don't look it. Also, though I'm only down 33 lbs since my sleeve, I'm really noticing a difference. Was wrestling my husband (a normal activity we do for fun) and I almost ALWAYS win because of my size. I started faking a loss because it was kind of embarrassing overthrowing a decent sized much taller grown man... But I REALLY put out my best and he tossed me around easily. Though I despise the thought of defeat, I'm feeling happy that he's getting a "normal" sized wife. (And can feel like a real man. LOL) I guess i should be more cautious walking down dark alleys now? ????

Hey all - things have been pretty uneventful over here but as of today, I'm officially into the "overweight" category and no longer obese which is kind of a fun milestone. I'm down 45.5lbs since my the start of my pre-op diet on August 1st. Hoping to drop 4.5 more by my birthday in two weeks as 50lbs would be a nice celebration. That would put me 22 away from ONEderland and 33 away from a normal BMI. Most minutes that seems so achievable and some minutes, I get too excited and can't wait. Definitely need to pick it up on the exercise, though!
    Hope you're all doing well!

I'm glad I'm not alone with the stalling. I was really getting discouraged. I was stalled at weeks 3 through 5. I was sleeved on August 12th. The scale has started to move again and I am now down 26.2 lbs. So happy

I'm so freaking happy right now! I just got my lab results from my PCP (who I see every 3 months because of T2 diabetes).
I haven't taken my metformin or my statin since surgery. I was on the highest does of a statin (80mg) pre-op, I had been monitoring my blood sugars, and they've been great.
Right before surgery my A1C was 6.4 while on 500mg of metformin 2x day. Last week, 4.5 weeks post-op, it's 6.1 w/o meds. I'm so happy!!!
My cholesteral total is 205 (ldl 148 hdl 33). I may end up on a low dose of a statin, we'll see. But the kicker is my triglycerides are normal (123...<150 is normal range). I can't remember them being below 300 in years, no matter what I eliminated from my diet.
I am just so amazed and grateful that in essentially a month after surgery I've seen such a difference.

I was sleeved on August 12th. Lost 21 lbs so far but that was the first 2 weeks. I had the 3 week stall as well. I think stepping on the scale constantly wasn't helping either. But the good news is... I've never lost 21 lbs EVER!. I'm feeling good. I had a post op appt. yesterday and I can now start stage 5 - chewable food! I'm kind of scared. I dont want to gain. Still today, I kept it to yogurt, a Protein shake, refried Beans with cheese, applesauce and Water. I am not getting the 60-80 grams of Protein needed but my doc said now that I can eat regular food, I should be able to. We'll see. I just can't fit all that food in. I'm so glad I had this surgery. The one thing I hated was pureed foods!! Ick!! But I knew it wouldnt be forever - Thank GOD!! Best of luck to all of you

Beckyj1023 got a reaction from BeagleLover in Sleeved a week ago. Feel no different?
I feel the exact same way. I feel like I'm not full either. I had my surgery on August 12th. I'm on the pureed stage which by the way I hate! Is it me? Everything just tastes really bad. I'm sticking to eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, V8 juice, Protein shakes and really really mashed up turkey meatballs with low sodium Tomato sauce. I'm really having a hard time with the pureed foods. But I know that's not the topic here.
There are some days I don't feel full either. I'm getting concerenced because it's taking me no time at all to drink a Protein shake. I can drink it in 10 minutes with no side effects whatsoever. Anyone else like this?

    Beckyj1023 got a reaction from NuMe2014 in 5 days post-op - intense cramping when I drink anything
Same with me. I had spasms in my esophagus for the first week every time I drank something. I called the doctor and they assured me it would go away and it did. I'm 3 weeks post op. It will be ok. I also have those hard bumps under my incisions. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I thought something was wrong with me. Hope you start to feel better. It gets easier.

I had my surgery just one day before you, so I am no expert either, but everything I have read on this site and others leads me to believe that we will be able to feel normal again eventually. I also miss that. I'm sure there are others out there that feel this way too but may be a little shy about admitting it. I also feel some pain if I eat too fast. I'm pretty sure it is completely normal. However, if your pain isn't tolerable or doesn't go away fairly quickly, you may want to consult with your surgeon just to be safe.....at least for peace of mind.
One thing I am reminded of every time I get on this site is that everyone's healing process is a little different as well as their experience with eating post-surgery.
Try to stay positive and Celebrate your weight loss! The rest will come over time.
    Good luck!!!!

Okay ladies!! I stepped on the scale today and it looks like the stall I've been on for 3 wks is finally over... That is unless the scales were just playing with my emotions! ???? I will be so happy to have that stubborn stall behind me.

Hi all. I was sleeved on the 11th. The first 2 weeks after I walked a couple times a day....maybe 10 minutes each time. Walked around the house a bit. But it exhausted me. At my 2 week post op the Doc okayed longer walks each day and anything other than strength training. But...lucky me....he has his patients on 4 weeks of full liquids...bummer. Well....its been about 4 weeks now and I still cant walk more than 10 minutes. I just get so tired! I am only able to eat (drink) about 600 to 700 calories a day....which I know isn't enough to maintain energy. I also saw my endocrinologist and my thyroid med is not being absorbed like normal since I am now missing 80% of my stomach. Well this will cause exhaustion too! I am just tired all the time and I feel like a total slacker because I don't have the energy to exercise! I start back to work tomorrow and I'm afraid of being tired while working. I have a desk job and work on reports and such all day....worried about mental tiredness. Hoping the thyroid meds will kick in and I feel a difference tomorrow. Tuesday I can start eating real food so that should help too. Wish me luck!

Hi all. I was sleeved on August 13th. Everything's been going pretty well. I was on two weeks liquids and am now in week two of puréed foods--I start adding "normal" foods in on Thursday. I've lost 20 pounds since my surgery and lots of inches (2 in my waist just this week)! Happy with the progress. Walk every day averaging 2-3 miles on weekdays; 4-5 on weekends. Can't wait to start back to Jazzercise and strength training in a couple of weeks. Usually have two Protein Shakes per day and also eat eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt. Had sashimi a couple of nights ago that was AWESOME! Love that the cravings are gone AND that I really only have one path to choose: the healthy choice path. Makes this crazy journey a bit easier to deal with. Good luck, everyone!

I know its hard guys. I am on pureed foods and feel like a baby, lol. But keep pushing though this and it will get better. I don't have all my energy back either but it sure is better than surgery week. Not to mention my enabler bought Snickers and Kit Kat into the house, SMH.
We can do this. Please don't have any regrets. Just keep striving! Soon we will be able to up the food intake and eat normal. Also, we can start to kick butt in the exercises.

I am up to four miles now, but I have to do 2 in the morning and 2 more at night. I am exhausted though and my bedtime has been 8:30 pm since surgery, but I was up about 2:45 am and cannot go back to sleep. Problem is I have to go back to work on Monday. I was sleeved on August 25.
