About Me

Hi, I am Ann and I am morbidly obese. Hmm. that's the first time I "said" that to myself. Shocking.
in Dec. I decided to lose weight. I made an appt. with a bariatric doc at the recommendation of my neurologist (sleep apnea…clue 1). The first thing the check in nurse said to me was "good morning, your insurance covers surgery with no further visits required". Surgery? I was there to lose weight, not have surgery?

Fast forward another failed attempt at weight loss by nutrition (plus 4 pounds after three months) and now, I am in the final stages of planning for a VSG. Hopefully within the next two months it'll all be under my belt and under control.

I am excited and confident that this is the right decision for me.

Updated 10/11/14 - the surgery is complete. I am well and adjusting to limitations without too much struggle. I find myself having to explain that this is NOT the easy way out - it's not just about working out - I do that already with a trainer - she says I work really hard - its about final choices and wanting to work to maintain good life, a lighter life and not spending all of my money on damn medications.
Although I know it's right, I expect that hearing from you all will be both comforting and helpful.

thanks for creating a place to share and learn.
