Completely devastated and disappointed
Sounds like your surgeon was very insensitive! How much wt. are you lifting? If you're developing muscle, that weighs more than fat and might be PART of the number on the scale. Do you look or feel smaller? Are your clothes fitting differently? Does your surgeon hae a nutritionist you can talk to?? How much are "very little carbs"? It's frustrating but don't give up. Stay on the program; stay OFF the scale for a bit; increase water; talk to nutritionist. Celebrate the improvement in your diabetes!! Good luck.

Is a 20mm stoma too big?
How much pain you are in should help you decide. You could try warm/hot Water and try to push it down with that. ?? I wonder if dissolving meat tenderizer in the water would help break down the Proteins?? But, depending on how big a piece of meat you swallowed and how much it hurts, you MIGHT need to go to the ER and have it removed. Good luck. (Bet you don't make the mistake twice; if it's any consolation.)

Very sore throat?
Yes; from being intubated. They also put an endoscope down to stomach during most of the RNY. Salt Water gargle will taste yuky, but help with the inflammation causing the pain. (AND the O2 is a drying factor).

Is a 20mm stoma too big?
You are just over 3 months out. How can you say it failed!?

Back and Chest Pains
Please call your Dr. COULD be a blood clot. The pain plus the breathlessness after abdominal surgery is worrisome for those symptoms. Probably not that, but don't take the chance. Just not worth wondering. Call now for his/her recommendation; and let us know.

Full liquid diet and pain
Miss Utah; why are you being so hard on yourself!! The experience is different for each person. It's just been DAYS; after MAJOR SURGERY! Give yourself a break. As far as soup; the stuff in the hospital is usually low salt and HORRIBLE. When you get home, try any broth but one with salt in it! Hang in there.

Waking up from surgery
JP drain and a feeding tube. Both were inserted abdominally. I had a slight infection with the JP drain and the pain when they removed it was TREMENDOUS!!! And I have a high tolerance. Subsequent surgeries with JP drain and no pain at all when it was removed. As far as the gastric/feeding tube, came out on its own during an X-ray!!! There are many different ways to do this surgery. Every surgeon has his/her prefenences and beliefs so your BEST source of information is from them.

Confused
Yes. HB seems harsh. Try white part only, or soft scrambled (just egg; no mild; spray pan with PAM). Also, a WHOLE EGG!!?That seems a bit much so early on. Lots of different opinions out there. But you're body is not agreeing with the one proscribed to you.

Cravings
I would DREAM about grilled cheese and tell my brother he was eating KFC and macaroni the wrong way!! Hang in there. It's not forever; just for now. Distract yourself somehow. 3 weeks out is just too soon. You'd probably get sick and really regret it.

Will I EVER be able to eat popcorn again?

Anyone Considering Plastic Surgery ?
BTW: Check out several to find who you like best. I only saw the ones that gave free consults. Went through 5 before settling on the Dr.

Anyone Considering Plastic Surgery ?
I had it ALL! Facelift, breast lift, brachioplasty, inner thigh lift, circumfrential body/tummy lift, butt lift. I was told no insurance would pay. But it was worth every cent to me. I'd lost the weight but still couldn't wear clothes that looked good. For ex.; arm flab hung so much the arms wouldn't fit on most clothes. And I could practically tuck my boobs into my waist bands!! $$ to do; took over 3 years but no regrets. Took time to heal and lots of drains. But LOVE my surgeon. He pampered me and was very artful and skilled at what he does. Don't know what state you're in. If Fl., try Bernard Shuster in Hollywood/Miami area. Good luck.

Stomach Bug
If you truly are that dehydrated and feel you can't drink Water, then yes. Go to the ER for fluids. You don't need to suffer like that.
-
Hot Flashes and Nausea
As you lose weight, estrogen (which is stored in fat cells) is released into the circulation. You might be having hot flashes r/t to this increased estrogen/menopausal type symptoms.

Bluesy day
This IS the place to go. You can also try ObesityHelp.com. Sounds like you have a great Dr.! Love her saying the body is going thru a WTF phase!! Take a nice bubble bath. Give yourself a pedi/mani. Find some positive affirmations and recite one a day. If your Dr. okayed it, try a nice cup of coffee or tea as you relax with some nice music or a comedy on TV. TREAT yourself like a princess to get through this rough patch. You'll probably feel much more positive tomorrow. A month from now you will feel so different! Some of this may also be d/t post anesthetic. It's not abnormal or unusual! Best wishes. Hang in there.

Depression and regret
Yes! Be happy. Learn it early. And be happy you had the surgery. You weren't happy the way you were before, right? It's a new adventure and you will get over the buye's remorse as soon as you start seeing a beautiful new you!

Will I ever be normal again?
You will be a new "normal". Were you normal before if you ate so much that you needed this solution?? And you may not eat certain things NOW; but you will be able to later. I'm 12 years out and there's nothing I can't eat. You just need to be smart and not eat so much. And going out? I went out 3 days after surgery as my sister needed to eat. I ordered tea and hot Water with which I made broth with a bullion cube. No body batted an eye. You can also ask for sugar free Jello or broths. Potatoes, bread, pasta; you'll be able to do it later. JUST NOT NOW!!

Any Nurses out there?
12 years ago, think I took off 2 weeks?? As far as telling people: tell them if you want them to know; but some will not understand. I didn't tell anybody I didn't know could support my decision and keep their mouths shut. A good answer to questions about your changes; just say, YEAH! I AM losing weight. Do you like the way it looks? If they ask how; tell the truth; I'm eating less and moving more. It's not a lie and it's all they need to know.

Hot Flashes and Nausea
I'm 12 yrs post op. Trust me; you are dumping. Figure out what you ate with in the past 2 hours. Also, did you eat something with natural or other sugar and then exercise a bunch? That can lower the blood sugar fast and give those symptoms. Appreciate it and learn from it.

Extra skin
Don't know your age or current size and future goal. But, if you lose a lot, you WILL have sagging skin; more so if you're older. Plastic surgery is the answer. If you're young, some of it might snap back.

Complications
It MIGHT be possible you have a slow leak of blood somewhere in GI. There is no question that you need to talk to your surgeon. Do not settle for a PA or ARNP. Talk to the baraitric surgeon about your low blood count. I'm not saying that's it, but there was just an article in Bariatric times about it. Just a thought. Good luck.
