My doc is all about Bariatric Advantage. I didn't get the Vitamins yet and went with a horrid chewable at GNC. I did, however, try the caramel Calcium chew, and it was delicious. So far as the shakes go, i got some vanilla body fortress super advanced whey isolate at Walmart because it was cheap. Make sure you get the one that is way low sugar. It tastes decent on its own the first time, but wears on you quickly. I discovered that mixing it with root beer extract or cocoa powder or pineapple and coconut extract helped tremendously. Mix it with 6 oz Water and a couple oz ice cubes and blend. None of them qualify as good, but just powrr through. Good luck!

I talked to the doctors office this morning, and it is official. I have switched from the Sleeve to the RnY.

They took the saline out of my band on April 16, 2014. I got approval a week ago today, and I'm waiting for my surgeon's nurse to call me back so I can set up a surgery date. The process wasn't bad at all, but the waiting... geez... it's not fun at all!

I do think it will help that I can work from home. My granddaughter starts school full time this year so I will have a few hours of peace and quiet in which to work. I don't plan on going back to work right away after this job ends (back to school for me!) and I was really counting on living off my severance pay for a while so that I could start school not totally exhausted. Oh well. Stuff happens. I am really grateful I am getting this second last chance so I will take what I can get.

I'm in a similar boat, but I plan on returning to work about a week or week and a half. I can hurt at home or hurt at work and get paid lol. As long as my surgeon is ok with me going back, I will.

I teach online and in person. I was doing online work on day 3 but not for any extended period of time. On Day 7 I went back to the classroom for 3 hours plus 2 hours of driving. I was very tired but I didn't lose that feeling for almost 2 months. I should have not gone back to the physical classroom until week 2 or 3.

    Hello everyone~
I am facing a very frustrating situation. I had timed my surgery for around the time I would not longer be employed. Or so I thought... What should have been a done deal unraveled and now we have no idea when our department will be reorganized. I am a medical transcriptionist and I work from home, so it isn't like I have to do a lot to get to work, lol. I have used up all my sick time getting ready for surgery so any time off I take will be unpaid, which can only go on for so long. Ugh, I am kinda freaking out now.
I don't actually have my surgery date yet. I guess I am just freaking out about still being employed when I do have it. How weird is that??
So, anyway, how long were you off before you went back to work? Did you start slowly (like half days at first) or did you wait until you could put in a full day? How long until you were not completely worn out after a day of work?

I would definitely be calling their office. I know they're busy but that's a bit unacceptable.

I was banded in 2004. I started at 267 and lost down to 160. The amount of work that I put into to losing that weight I'm sure I could have done on my own. It was just as hard to lose as before surgery. The difference was that I was just totally motivated. Once I got to 160 I started vomiting a lot and regurgitating everything up in my sleep and had horrible reflux. I even aspirated during a surgical procedure. I had all saline removed and ballooned back up to 242. Got a revision to the sleeve 6/23/14 and have lost 34 pounds to date. I'm excited to have the band out of me. My surgeon said that the scar tissue from the band was the worst he had seen. He said at first he couldn't even see the band when he went in. There was even scar tissue under the part of the band that was wrapped around my stomach. There is no telling what a few more years of having the band in could have done to my health.

I'm 5 weeks out from rny. My band came out in 2011. This week I'm noticing more energy and an overall sense of well being
I was sick for the whole year I had the band. Even my worst moments since bypass (like feeling super hot and nauseated sometimes after I eat) are nothing compared to the misery of the band. I have absolutely no regrets at this short time postop. I am in a bit of a stall at 30 lbs. down and no loss for a week, but am motivated to up my Protein and exercise and persevere. Best of luck to all of you who are making this change to improve you lives and health!

The same thing happened to me. My doc said the same thing. As much misery as this band has caused me, I jumped right in the middle of that. I just got ins approval Friday and hope to have it done within the next 10 days.

Think calming thoughts. Did your surgeon give you a number to lose, or were you just expecting more of a loss?

So glad to see this question. I just got back from the doctor from a de-fill. Having a terrible time with acid reflux and keep getting refilled and filled again. He suggested a conversation to the bypass. Im interested jusy nervous about another surgery.
