  1. I had my post op office visit today. I lost 7 lbs. since April 14 when I had my pre op visit ! I cant remember the last time I lost 7 lbs! I have been on full liquids for a couple days and have been doing well, (goodbye broth)! But today, I really felt hunger again and it scares me. How easily my old self can return - how hard is it going to be to wait 6 weeks for my first fill? I am craving bread!!! UGGH!:confused2:
  2. Good to see that everyone is progressing well!! I actually went out today - just threw on some loose clothes and went to visit a friend for a while. It feels good to at least pretend I am normal!! I spoke with a friend who is a nurse about washing the incision sites b/c I have been too chicken to take off my band-aids, which are covering the steri-strips. She said to leave the steri-strips on and cut off the edges as they get loose - this will make them last longer. Makes sense and something they did not tell me in the hospital. Yesterday I realised for me, this is like getting over a really really awful flu- your stomach is sore and your not sure what to eat or if eating will make you sick again. Oh, and you feel really weak too! My husband is bugging me to eat - says he cant believe I am surviving on so little! Me either!!
  3. My surgery was very similar, it was done on the 30th. I thought about the 'boobs' thing too! I told my pre-surgery nurse I was worried I would be made fun of while I was on the table (I tend to overthink things). Of course she said no!! A funny thing about the boobs - I told my BF that right now I cant wear a bra b/c 2 of my incisions are under each boob. She said "they put the incisions that high up?" I said "no, my boobs are that LOW" . So, just a couple days out and I am allready laughing.
  4. How is everyone doing? I feel like I turned a little corner today. Took a shower and had a 1/2 protein drink with skim milk and it helped - I was feeling so weak! I found if I take my pain meds. before they wear off it helps too. My stomach is really rumbly at times, feels like hunger pains but I am sure its gas! I have had a couple of break downs "why did I do this" & I am really missing solid food. Danielle, OMG, the broth makes me feel sick just to think about it! I know its 98% fat free, but still seems greasy and so salty! yuck! tomorrow I can have some creamy soup and mashed potatoes. Anything for a change!! What is everyone elses post diet like? when can you get off the full liquids?
  5. I got home today, sore and so tired. Feel like Ive been kicked in the stomach. I thought I would feel the band and port on my insides, but I don't. I suppose that's good news. I am already sick and tired of sugar free popsicles and broth. Hope I can get through another 3 days until I can have some creamy soups!!! keep in touch! Kelly
  6. thanks for sharing Baggio!! I am going in tomorrow for my band and it was great to read what to expect!!
  7. What a great thread, although some of you are a little freaky:wink2: LOL! I love shoes & have a closet full of them that I can't wear ! I don't even care if they are out of style, I just can't wait to go out in my high heel boots again! Oh and strappy sandals too! luv10nis ~ I have visited Naperville, its such a great town! So pretty and family friendly
  8. I am suprisingly calm today, and I can't believe how fast time has gone by! Just cleaning the house to keep busy and not think about food!! I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am, I may not even go to sleep tonite. Good luck every one! Lets meet up here on this thread Thurs/Fri (or when your feeling up to it) to check in with each other!!
  9. I Ebay too! I have been selling for over 4 years and its how I get extra money for x-mas, b-day's ect. I am planning to do the same thing, sell my clothes as they don't fit to earn $ to buy more. You guys are right, plus size clothes sell so well on ebay! (thats b/c there is such a crappy selection out there in the stores) Normally, I sell my kids (better, branded) clothes and items from the house I don't use anymore. I also hit the mom2mom sales & garage sales. I also help my friends empty out their closets & homes and take 10 - 20%. My Ebay passion is selling purses - I would like to only sell those one day!! Thats a great idea about creating a seperate account to fund new clothes! I also plan to hit the Sal. Army and thrift stores for jeans!!!
  10. Hi all, Add me in!! 4/30 7:30 am. Can't wait to start my new life!! Daynel, I am on the East Side and will be banded at St.John Oakland on Dequindre. Where are you having surgery? Good luck everyone!!
  11. I have to get in on this one! The 80's were so much fun to grow up in! I got tickets for the Michael Jackson concert for my 15th b-day (the album with Billie Jean just hit) actually it was all the Jacksons. I took my BF and we bought silver gloves - which were not sparkly enough, so we bought spray glue and glitter and hung out my bedroom window so we would not make a mess! By the end of the concert, there was a pile of glitter on the floor!!! We also wore silver socks  I still love to catch Rick Springfield in concert every summer!! Makes me feel 15 again!! He runs out into the crowd and we chase him!! So silly:smile2:
  12. SHAME ON HIM & you can tell him I said that!! :smile2: I suspect he said that because he is fearful you won't want to be his friend when you loose weight, or that you won't have time for him anymore b/c you'll be too busy with a new social life. Don't let his insecurities keep you from taking care of yourself!! Remember, you are doing this for you & as you loose weight, your confidence will soar!! :biggrin2:
  13. Thanks Carol! I can't wait for these jeans to fall off my body! I will be sure to buy gas-x!! Kelly:smile:
  14. I am blessed to be a stay at home Mom, but I truly miss working. My two jobs I loved were Visual Merchandiser (mannequins and displays) and sales rep for a poster and greeting card company. Miss it so much, I often dream about it and am hoping to go back when the kids are in school full time!
  15. Dandy, love the comment about going to my daughters - daughters first tee ball parade!! Thanks!!
  16. Thanks for all your kind words and (well taken) advice. I was thinking that I blew it, so I should just keep going and eating... but you know, I never want these jeans to feel tight again! I am offically back on track. (and lots of tylenol for the joint pain). Kite flying will have to wait until next spring!!!! :smile2:
  17. If that's the thing they are advertising on Celeb Fit Club, it looks so cool and might actually be a fun workout! Let us know how you like it!
  18. Luther was a yo yo dieter, and I think that contributed to his death. With his sweet voice, he was always just right for me...
  19. Macmadame, I agree!! I was buying my protein drink to start my pre-op diet and was not sure if I got the right one, so I bought a protein bar to get me through the 1st morning until I could find the right drink. That bar had 17g of sugar! blew my mind! I am going to look for the south beach ones, they sound good!
  20. I totally agree! A silly just for fun question turns into such a big debate! by the way, I wish Luther Vandross had had WLS, maybe he would still be around!:smile2:
  21. Hi, I just need to vent. I am getting my band Wednesday, April 30th and am on day 5 of my pre-op diet. My day started out great with watching my daughter in her first parade for tee-ball. When we got home, it was so beautiful with a nice strong breeze, I threw her in the car and drove to the park to go kite flying. We were trying to get it going and I took some steps back, lost my balance and fell. My worst nightmare. I have rhumetoid arthritis and have not been able to take my enbrel injections for it since April 1, it needs to be out of my system for the surgery. It (the fall) was awful and so painful!! I fell right on my knees, my most affected joints. I could not stop myself. My daughter was crying (she is 5 and was sooo worried about mommy), I was crying. It was just plain scary. So, of course feeling sorry for myself, I just added some more to it. I just ate 3 slices of thin crust pizza with veggies and 1 cheese stick. I suck. I was doing so well, actually felt like my jeans were a tad loose today for the 1st time in a long time. Now I feel full, bloated and disgusting (and still in pain from the fall). Angry at me for blowing it so badly, and afraid the doctor will know what I have done when he opens me up. What is wrong with me?? Why do I need food to soothe me? Thanks for listening.
  22. Hi! congrats on your surgery ! I am having mine on the 30th, 5 more days! How are you feeling 3 days out? Best of luck to you :biggrin2:
  23. Hi, I am getting banded this Wed. so thanks for the warning!
  24. Hi Ready, I feel for you! I am 39 and after the birth of my daughter 5 years ago was diagnoised with Rhumetoid Arthritis. Before that, I was a size 16 - did not gain with the pg, lost 20lbs after. When I got the RA, I stopped moving (and started eating more & more to comfort myself). Well, here I am a size 24 and getting closer and closer to 300lbs:sad:. I call it my vicious circle~ I need to loose weight, to do that, I need to move. I cannot move until I loose weight. The RA is never going to improve unless I loose weight, I will never loose weight without this surgery. Its taken me over a year to get here, but I am having surgery THIS WEDNESDAY!! Take your time, do lots of research ~ this site is fantastic!! when I found it, I knew this surgery was for me! Keep us posted on your progress! Kelly p.s. you should see me using the stairs & getting up off the floor or even a chair! its comically sad!:crying:
  25. Thanks for the post! I will be banded on Wednesday 30th and was just wondering today if the swelling in my feet will go down!! Cant wait for shoes to fit again!
