GummyTummy got a reaction from laurenella82 in Anyone use protein shots?
Ask your doctor about GENEPRO Protein, I tried a sample from them of their ultra refined powder and mixed it in with everything from hot tea and coffee to Peanut Butter and cream cheese on a cracker. It literally has no taste and doesn't mess with the consistency of things, but I have a hard time buying that its Protein content is as high as it claims. I haven't asked my doc about it yet but will see him in late December so if you see yours first, go for it. Try it out too, you can get a little sample pack from them for like 1.50 on Amazon it has a lot of great reviews and only one or two not so great.

GummyTummy got a reaction from MyssJones in Third week post op, weight loss stalled. Advice?
I am in the middle of the slump with you, I actually lost four pounds after a week of not losing anything and gained it right back that same night in Water weight. SO COMMON. I was freaking out like you, tormenting myself by weighing every day and just assume this - My body isn't going to manufacture its own calories so what I put in the tank is what I put in the tank. That unfortunately includes Water and the statements above about glycogen storage and gain / loss are spot on. Hold my hand while we get through this time, but know that we will.

GummyTummy got a reaction from MrsMurky721 in First bad meal post op!
Honestly, everything you listed there isn't bad if made relatively lean and of course, if you follow portion sizes. Burgers can be a perfect balanced meal if you make the little 2oz patty, wrap it in lettuce and use a pickle / touch of ketchup / mustard. I just avoid the bun. pizza is actually a super food, you just need to eat very thin crust and make sure to have some meats and cheese on the top for Protein. Likewise, I avoid eating a whole tortilla, but have loaded the right portion of cheese and Beans / salsa on a very small portion of a tortilla and ate it almost like an open faced sandwich. I wasn't depriving myself of anything I wanted, just making sure I only ate what I needed as opposed to what I wanted. My doctor actually has Pasta as a healthy carb in my meal plan, just once more, you need protein with it and of course you need it in a small portion and not very frequently. As far as questionable things I have eaten. I had a tiny small slice of my own birthday cake and honestly, it tasted okay. I didn't get sick from it because I am one of the fortunate people that doesn't get dumping from sugar. I didn't have this surgery to make me stop living my life, I had it to help me start living it the right way. My rule of thumb now... 55 lbs and two and a half months post op - - MOST THINGS in MODERATION. Of course I am not pounding down french fries and greasy Mc.Muffins any more, but by God, I can make a healthy alternative to that taco bell burrito and still enjoy being alive and doing the right thing by my sleeve. Good luck girly.

GummyTummy reacted to Elode in Do you notice how much others eat?
I only notice in my house because There are a lot of leftovers left that my husband has been working on now that I don't eat much...it's really shows me just how much I was actually eating in the house. To have sweets sitting around and throwing out half a peach pie that didn't get eaten Is just astonishing because that NEVER would have happened had I not had this surgery....I defiantly would have had them ate!! Thank Jesus I'm not that way anymore....maybe that's my first NSV?!!!

GummyTummy got a reaction from bobbyswife in Band was a huge mistake?
If he won't help you, find someone that will. It is not normal or healthy to be spitting up stomach contents constantly. From everything I have read, band is not the answer to long term weight issues and often results in serious complications. Good luck. You deserve to be happy and healthy.

I know this is not related to the Holiday Callenge but wondered if anyone has any ideas. I eating my daily Protein and taking my Vitamins in the morning, not as good at remembering at night. But I feel like I my hair is falling out quicker than usual and I have noticed changes in my eye sight. Anyone have any tips? Being skinny isn't going to be as enjoyable with bifocals and a come over like my dad.

GummyTummy got a reaction from VSGAnn2014 in How is a stall even possible?
Your body is designed to survive and when starvation occurs, it will convert stores of fat to energy yes, but even more, it will start doing things like converting starch to sugar. That is right, when you starve yourself which is what consuming 500 calories is, your body responds by slowing your metabolism and conserving energy. That also means you will eventually enjoy things such as hair loss and fatigue. Your initial weight loss is related to the loss of hospital fluids and the glycogen stores your body normally keeps in muscles for short term energy. When you lose that glycogen, you lose the Water that keeps it Fluid in your muscles. Your body will eventually rebuild the stores plus the Water it takes to store it, hence a stall. Some people even gain weight during this time. Make sure to consume Protein and start upping your calories as directed.
