    Time off of work?

I took 5 days off. My Doctor wasn't happy and kept insisting I take at least 2 weeks. But after those 5 days I was ready to come back. I've had the easiest recovery also. No problems, no vomiting, keeping everything down, easy transition to mushy foods, it's all been wonderful. (I'm even down 18 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks) But I sit at a desk and have the opportunity to walk around, not lift heavy things, drink plenty of fluids... I told my dr that if I needed more than a week, I'd let my work know...but I was sleeved on a Thursday and came back to work Tuesday with no problems. (I do, however, recommend wearing either a dress or something that will cover scars because pants will move up and down over the scars from surgery!!!)
  2. This makes me happy to see that someone else returned to work "semi early". My doctors thought I was crazy that I wanted to only take a week off. I would have gone crazy taking more than a week off. But I was sleeved 8/7 and I feel fabulous. On all liquids. I'm over them, but so far 12 lbs down since day of surgery!!! It's weird to think it was just over a week ago for me.

    Telling work?

Thank you all for the advice. They saw me before surgery and I told them I was doing a liquid diet just to shrink my liver some....but I hope I can get away with just saying dr supervised, reduced calories..etc. luckily I wont be at work during the liquid stage so they wont ask why I'm not eating solid foods. Thanks again!
  4. For those who did not tell work what surgery they were having, how did you explain the weight loss? I'm 4 days post surgery, 10 lbs down...but at this rate, when I go back to work, I'm sure SOME weight loss would be a little noticeable. I know I'll lose more over the next few months..but I didn't tell my work why I needed the time off, just did. Any suggestions on what to say? I work in as a private event coordinator so image is almost half the job. All the ladies I work with are so weight and fashion savvy that I don't want to tell them that I had surgery because they'll see it as the easy way out. I also know it's none of their business really...but I don't think they'll just let me say "oh liquid diet..no big deal." Any one else been through this and not know what to say?
