August post op sleevers: Check in

I stalled for 3 weeks straight from week 2-5 and and I felt like I was going crazy! My body changed a lot, though, and my clothes all got so loose. Finally started losing again last week. Stick with it and hide the scale! Your body's getting used to a lot of changes

    Throwing up white foam?!?

Yep, I get this when I eat too fast or am eating something way too heavy. I'm just over 5 weeks out and kept throwing up last week. Finally realized I was eating a quiche I had made that was just way too heavy for my stomach. Now I eat slowly, chew a lot, don't eat processed meats (the ham in the quiche set me off), and stop before I'm full.

  8. I'm 4 weeks post-surgery and went back to work about 10 days after surgery. I work on my feet and talk to large crowds of people for approx 6-8 hours straight. The first week was really rough and I had to call out sick twice due to vomiting. It's been getting slowly better since then, but I'm really struggling with balancing when I can eat and how to stay hydrated when I'm on my feet during that time. Today I actually had a rare whole hour for lunch, but only two bites of chicken salad went down, and when I got to work, I got that tell-tale pressure in my back and chest and ended up throwing up and having to leave. My bosses also don't know about what kind of surgery I had, but now I feel like I have to tell them since it's affecting me so much at work, but that's another story. My big question is: how long did it take people to achieve a work-sleeve balance? Thanks!

    August Sleevers Check In

If you're having trouble stomaching the pre-op protein shakes, try blending the shake with ice in a blender. Fuller consistency and it is more like a smoothie. Plus, ice keeps you hydrated!

    Gas pains

Warm ginger tea felt really good in my stomach around day 3. I avoid plain water since leaving the hospital because it bothered my stomach, too. Good luck!

    Calling all August Sleevers!

Had surgery on Aug 6th! I had a really bad reaction to the anesthesia, so they had to keep me an extra day. It was really rough but the staff and my surgeon were so great and tried to keep me as comfortable as possible. Finally came home on the 9th once I could eat and drink without the IV and every day is getting better. Tired but making sure to get all my clear fluids. Been freezing Isopure into cubes and putting them in my crystal light as per my nutritionist's suggestion and it's working well. Onward and upward!

    All In August 2014!

I'm scheduled for August 6th! Very excited. First day of liquid diet (1 week instead of 2) and last day of work before surgery.
