Cody's mom got a reaction from AzElle in Plastic Surgery in Tijuana after the sleeve?
Funny, I don't find Tijuana a risk, but more highly trained quality surgeons than we have here. I would choose Mexico over anywhere for any surgery or dental work, but I would prefer going to someone that someone else has used. I had a very successful sleeve done in TJ for a very inexpensive price, but price isn't my concern, it's getting quality surgeons, and I know they are in Mexico, much more so than here.

I have to do this, as I've already stopped living, so there is no choice for me. I'm excited to be able to do things without the underlying thought "how far will I have to walk, and will everyone hear me panting for air", how did I get this far gone? I am scared, but if I could go tomorrow I would. I have found others that have done it alone and made it, so will I.

Surprisingly I'm not afraid of giving up food. I can't wait to give up the foods that put me in this situation in the first place.

Ohh I love those small cupcakes. We have a place here called Craves, and they make the best cupcakes, they have the regular size and the small.
I made a BIG dinner for all my girlfriends this Christmas, we had lobster, beef tenderloin, rice (with egg, chicken, celery, onions and butter), spaghetti squash, and for dessert we had the cupcakes. Well, after two glasses of a champagne cocktail (I love champagne with mandrine oranges at the bottom of the glass to smoosh), we sat down to eat. I could only at that point after cooking everything (and sampling) muster a bite of each item (and WOW it was good), but after sitting and talking for an hour, we broke into the mini cupcakes. I had two, one pepermint pattie (chocolate with mint icing) and a red velvet (yumm). So really, I enjoyed absolutely everything everyone else had, didn;t deprive myself of anything and didn;t feel sick cause I ate too much. I just eat a whole pile less than everyone else. It was a great night, with great friends and great food.
I was sleeved September 14, 2014. I had 75 pounds to lose and I have 30 to go (I lost 5 pounds during Christmas). I do not eat like this everyday, but I LOVE food, and I enjoy food, but am so happy I no longer can eat everyone under the table, or embarress myself with the quatity that was me before, but can continue to enjoy the things I loved. Now I taste and enjoy, I don't inhale and feel sick! I was a foodie before, I love, lived and drempt about food, now I love live and dream about the things I can do and will do. Eat to live, not live to eat, and nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!!!
Good luck to everyone going into this journey, it's a fantastic tool to help get you where you want to go!!!

@@shizwiz, and guess what, you can have that subway sandwich, but instead of a 12 inch, you'll be satisfied by one or two inches or bites, and those chips you'll be happy with three single chips, and those three Cookies, you'll be satisfied after a bite or two of one. I had subway last weekend, and I ate probably two inches of a six inch steak sub and that's was good I was content for another four or five hours. Your obsession with food will be gone, but your enjoyment will still be there.

Not gonna lie, I was freaking out on the first few days of the pre-op diet. I have a counselor and for the last 3 months, I was 100% ready. I've been talking to her and going over why I eat so much, triggers, addiction, etc etc etc. That first day of not having that choice was a wake up call. It was REAL...not just talk. What am I doing?
My boyfriend sat me down and said that I was sounding like an addict. And I was. I had to step back and think 'WHY am I freaking out?" It was because I was afraid of not being able to eat 4 pieces of pizza slathered in ranch. Because I won't be able to eat a pound of takeout. I was freaking out because I couldn't scarf down a 12 inch Subway and a bag of chips and 3 Cookies.
Stepping back....WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT? That's not normal. And it is not healthy.
Those 15-20 minutes of frenzied eating are NOT worth the rest of the day feeling horrible about myself. Knowing people judge me when I grocery shop- even if its for veggies. I catch the looks. Wheezing walking up 10 stairs. TEN stairs. Seeing what I look like when sitting down. The faces of people when I get on an airplane. Hearing I am pre-diabetic. Knowing I could have a heart attack if I keep doing this to myself. I want to have kids one day, but sex is like a work out. It's not even fun anymore.
I'm ready. That little demon telling me I'm scared because I can't volume eat has been murdered. Viciously.

@@AWholeNewMama, I love pizza as well, and had one during Christmas, the difference is in the amount you eat. Don't deprive yourself, enjoy, you'll only want a few bites. I still love Chinese food, and have it still, just now I'm happy with two bites of each item, instead of the massive amounts I once ate. I have yet to find a Protein shake I like, so I have to rely on real foods and have since the second week out from surgery. Last night I had prime rib along with one spoonful of mashed potatoes, a bite of a yorkshire pudding and a spoonful of corn. It will surprise you how little will satisfy you so you can still enjoy eating, your just not living to eat anymore. Have your pizza on your cheat day, a few bites will be all you'll want, and you will love and enjoy it. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels, so once you start losing weight and feeling good about yourself, so much will change. I had pizza, chinese food and chocolate during Christmas and lost 5 pounds, maybe it would have been more had I not had those things, but I enjoyed every single mouthful (small mouthfuls and only one or two). This is not a death sentence, it's a life sentence, you don;t have to say goodbye to anything but the weight.
    Good luck!

I also have a very busy day at work, and no privacy to eat on my own (i'm a teacher). Normally, I will eat a cheese stick between classes and for lunch I drink a Premier Protein shake. And I ALWAYS carry my Water around so I can get my fluids in during the day. Before surgery I ate a Protein Bar after school before tutoring. I'm only a few weeks post op, so it will probably be another few weeks before I can eat the Protein Bars again.
Good luck! It's totally doable, as long as you make taking care of yourself a priority. It does take a bit of pre-planning/pre-packing, but its worth it.
As far as going back to work, I feel so grateful that I felt really great right away. They kept me overnight, let me go the next morning at 11 am. My husband and I went to the store and I was walking right away. My inlaws were in town and we did a lot of shopping and I cooked or baked almost every day. It was pretty awesome. I did start to drag a bit after all the activity for the day, and I did have to make myself sit down periodically and focus on drinking and getting my Protein, but I really didn't have too many problems. I just got back from Christmas break at school, and I was 3 weeks post op, but its been a pretty easy transition. I had to plan out my medicine/vitamins/food schedule, but it's been good. I get up at 4:30 to go for my walk, go to work at 6:00, then work until 4 or 5, then go home and make dinner and do whatever.
    Good luck to you!

Worked 16 days straight, 11.5 hours per day, then I got five days off, then back for 16 straight (that's my shift, 16 on, 5 off). I don't do well laying around so I was happy to be back doing what I normally do right away.

@Ravi... Ha! I just posted almost the same thing you did...I'm about to chicken out too. But, I think it's better to be hesitant and truly sure about wanting surgery, than rushing into it hoping for a quick fix. I know a lot of people who did the latter and have failed miserably after surgery. They were not prepared for the changes, and fell back into old habits. It's a lifetime commitment if you want long term success, so we need to be fully prepared for a different life. It's certainly not the "easy way out" that people seem to think it is...it's a lot of hard of hard work and sacrifice. I have nothing but respect for people who have chosen this path!

@@sunshine69 I had surgery Sept 14, I had a hard time walking the pain in my feet would cause me dread to do anything. I'm 53 and was fed up with being out of breath and feet that would hurt. If I did a little activity I could hardly make it to the bathroom in the middle of the night my feet would hurt so bad. Doing the slightest of activities would cause me to pant out of breath like a dog who ran for miles. This past Friday I spent the entire day shopping and went for a hike out to see my horse which was about half a mile, then did several loads of laundry (up and down many flights of stairs), and really didn't notice till I went to bed that night, there was no pain, none! That alone is the biggest Christmas present..
