  2. Hubby grilled the best NY strips last night!!! Although I could only have 3 bites... it was the best!!! I think it would take me about 3-4 days to eat one steak!!! I handled it well no problems! 5 months post op oficially tommorrow.

Love a grilled steak!! Especially Porterhouse! Yum!! Even though I can only eat about 2-3 ounces, hubby and I save whatever is left of 2 steaks and slice it up to put on a salad the next night. And if there's any left after that, I'll take some to work for lunch. Enjoy what you can have!

  3. I missed it yesterday, but yesterday was my 15 months post-op date. :) I've lost 200 pounds since surgery and 263 overall. Still baffles me!

  4. I have lost 90 pounds as of this morning! There is something about the nice, even numbers that is extra exciting. 23 days until the surgery. I WILL get to 100 pounds down before that day gets here...

That is terrific!!! Great job! Since you're doing so well pre-surgery, I can imagine the success you'll have post-surgery.

  13. people who so self focused that they can't keep their eyes out of the mirror or too busy stalking their own page are really not worth my time. gotta learn to walk right past that mess. and look for those who are making a difference out there

  14. Back in the office today, routine seems to be helping me get fluids in better. :) Should be cleared for mushies on Wed, looking forward to some refried beans with cheese!!

      Woohoo!!!! Awesome!

How's your energy level doing now that you're back to work? Are you working half or full days?

I went back on a Wed. and my first 3 days I worked half days, then the following Monday I started full days.

@LipstickLady - I need to try that combination - sounds yummy!

  15. I am so hella sick of protein shakes. Having to force myself to drink them to get my protein, as the powder makes pre-made pudding and yogurt taste funny. Won't get cleared for puree/soft until Wed afternoon. I'll get through this, but last night I seriously wanted to suck the salt off of a cracker my hubby was eating. LOL. Chew and spit makes more sense in my head now. LOL

When I got tired of the sweet shakes, I turned to the Unjury chicken soup protein powder to satisfy my taste for something salty. Even though the chicken soup is fine by itself, I usually added a pinch of chicken bouillon. Hang in there!! You can get through this!

One of my favs, too. I found that my portion sizes for all fruits is considerably smaller than I would have thought. However, my typical meal volume is limited to 1/2-3/4 cup total.

:) I lost all my thermal protection. Never was cold natured before surgery, but I am moreso these days. There are several trade-offs to which we have to adjust post-op.

Thank you for sharing the link to this post! Very thought provoking. I liked the statement about self-care also, but what really hit a cord with me was her statement about "I'm letting myself down." I've failed with weight loss so many times in the past, I sure don't want to fail this time.

  21. 55 hrs worked in the last 4 days.....nursing sore knees and other sore parts. Morning coffee down the hatch and feeling human. Day off today, tonight and gonna werk some extra shifts tomorrow & Sunday nights. Time for r & r today. Gonna hit the gym and then meet a buddy at the pistol range.....grocery store to get some tasty protein to toss on the grill. Maybe a movie later on when I get lazy. Exciting stuff. Hope you all are well and have a great weekend.

  22. Gah! Don't know if is because I am healing but the last two days I am a bottomless pit! I never ever feel this way. It might just be the need for comfort food. Ugh!

  24. Today has been tough. It is the 6th day of the preop liquid shakes. My stomach has been rumbling and my choices have been right. One moment at a time.

You can do this!! Stay busy and occupied with something, especially with your hands. It will be worth it all once you get to the other side of surgery.
