    Almost a year post-op

It took me two years to lose the 100 pounds that I needed to lose. I needed to change things up often in order to keep my body from getting too used to the program. Try varying your daily calorie count, vary your exercise, increase the intensity of your exercise, add a fast day and add a day with a higher carb count. Mix things up. It worked for me but it took time. As long as each year is a little lighter and healthier than the year before, you are on the right track.

    5 months out and panicking

Don't give up. Even if it takes you years to get to goal, keep trying. It took me two years to get to goal. I did get a therapist to help me keep focused once I was getting really frustrated.

I need help keeping this secret!

I only told a few people but people talk. When you lose weight, many people assume you've had surgery. Just figure out your canned answer to the question "how are you losing weight?" My answer was always eat less, move more.

  6. Nothing is better than fitting in airplane seats.
  7. It WILL get better and then the 3-4 weeks of sucky will seem like a very small price to pay. You can do it. It will be worth it.
  8. Oh my gosh, if you're a failure then we should all be failures. You have done amazingly well. You literally saved your life. Focus on being as fit as you can and stop focusing on the number.

    So many QUESTIONS HELP!

Talk to your doc. Education is always good. I would think your insurance should cover based on your bmi if they cover at all. It was not a miracle cure but so far it's the best decision I could have made. Good luck.

    Surgery Tomorrow, Honestly terrified

You will be so glad you made this decision. You would like a lovely young woman and you need your outside yo match your inside. The first few weeks will be tough as you'll be tired but in the grand scheme of things, it's a mere blink in time. Make certain you grab all the help you can especially in the first year. Make it count. You can do it. Prayers be with you.

9 Months - 20 lbs from My Goal

Congrats! I have been stuck at 162 for months due to snacking. I already work out quite a lot. What strategies have helped with the snacking? How did you find a therapist that you liked?

    What's wrong with me?

My doctor offered to run a million expensive tests but he felt that he problem was a temporary one from having lost so much weight so we decided to try the fludrocortisone. All my labs were good as well. I take a very small amount. It's like taking a salt pill with a tiny bit of steroids. He considers it a VERY safe drug and it's very inexpensive. It has helped a ton. Without it I get dizzy if I stand up too fast or get too hot. We decided to try it after I blacked out and hit my head on the floor. Like the others said. Doctors are the most useful although neither my surgeon nor my internist had ever heard of it. It was the metabolic Doctor that analyzed my labs that suggested it.

    Dizziness one year out

The metabolic dr suggested I try fludrocortisone. It has helped immensely.
  20. Seems fast to me. Seems to me the longer one goes super low cal, the more messed up the metabolism for life. Slow and steady is awesome.

When did people notice your weight loss?

I lost about 50 before people really said much. Now down 85, everyone notices. However the last 5 (170 to 165) people think I've lost a ton and I barely lost any.
  22. I swear I lost all the muscle I had after the surgery. I've rebuilt it mostly at seven months.

    Coke addiction

I just went cold turkey. It was VERY hard. My friends gave me a chip at one month and one year. Take it hour by hour. It's worth it.
