    Learning the hard way

I agree it maybe how it is prepared. Something fried or dry may not be working well. I found getting something a little more processed allows my sleeve to accept it more. Maybe try canned tuna and see how you feel with it.

You know you lost weight when

When you donate all of your too big clothes and realize you literally have 2 things to wear.

    Pre-op Questions

I am doing really well at almost 3 months out. I can handle most foods. I am a slow loser at about 2-3 lbs a week but I will take what loss I can get.

    Pre-op Questions

My psychologist was looking to see if I was mentally ready for the surgery. He also wanted to make sure I had support and was realistic about my expectations. It was helpful to get his prespective about my doctor and what life may be like post surgery.
  5. Another inch lost around my waist. Now it is 6 since surgery.

Yay you! I feel like losing inches is more satisfying than losing lbs. My waist is so puffy, so when I see the tape measure get smaller, it makes me happy, even if the scale is stuck!

    Scales

I only weigh at the gym with clothes on and shoes off. I don't keep a scale at home because I would weigh myself every day and that would make me go crazy.
  7. I would sit down with a doctor to make your choice. That is what I did. I was not sure if I even wanted surgery when I first met with my weight-loss doctor. After a few meeting she factor in my age weight and needs and we decided on the sleeve. I went this option because it only messes with one organ not several. You also have less risks of malabsorption and complications. Most places offer seminars that are free and will talk about options and risks. Insurance may also come into play on what you can have as well.
  8. I did not tell my family because I do not think they would have supported me. Do what you feel is best.
  9. My BMI is under 40!

  10. I am ateacher as well. I did tell the people I worked with. They have been supportive. Several have even been considering it themselves. I did not tell my family. I felt they were going to be angry and not want me to get it. If they ask about my weight I am just going to tell them I am doing supervised medical weight loss.

Do you make a shopping list?

I make a list with some items. I keep it open so I can focus on sales and what looks good.
  14. Don't sweat it. Most people go up and down by a few pounds. Just focus on what you have already lost and were you are going.

  16. I never felt my stomach or the staples. The worst pain was from gas. I was also sore because I only had a week to recover before work. I felt any pain I went through has been worth it since I have been losing weight.
  17. I just hit my first mini goal!

  18. Pre op sucked really bad. I had to keep in mind 2 things. It will make my surgery go batter because my liver will be smaller and easier to operate around. Second it keeps you bowels from being swollen or inflamed. My nurse was saying if they were inflamed there was a greater chance of a nick and infection. I am a teacher and I understand the extra layer of frustration.
  19. 5 week appointment today. :)

    Pre-sleeve

I had a cheat meal during my pre-op phase. Everything still went well with my surgery. I would say just move on and stop beating yourself up.
  23. Do not compare yourself to anyone else! Our bodies are all so different and you will lose weight differently than other people.
  24. So far... 1. More Energy 2. Losing the weight 3. Better relationship with food
  25. 2 week post-op today. I can't wait to see how much I have lost.
