  1. Thank you, Dr. Watkins, for sharing this information. I am having surgery 6/18 and will quite possibly be one of my doctor's first Realize patients (if I choose to be). When I was told that, I was wondering where I was going to find reliable information if the band was so new to the US. I should have known it would definitely be here on LBT. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks for sharing your story. I think I would revisit that support group if only to say, "Hey everybody, guess what?? The angry lady was RIGHT!!" Good for you for finding out what was wrong. Hope everything goes well this second time around!
  3. My full-time job is working at a school, so we will be out by my surgery date, but I am also part-time reference librarian at my county library. I am having surgery Wednesday and hoping to come back to work Saturday, but that is usually a 9.5 hour day. I am afraid I won't be able to make it that long.
  4. I work in a high school and deal with it too. I used to work in the office where I was somewhat sheltered because that is the one area they avoid if at all possible. Now I am in the computer lab, so get exposed to them every day. It's not as bad now as it was when I first started there, but still humiliating sometimes. I look forward to the day I can crawl under a desk to check connections and not have to worry about how my big behind looks sticking up in the air! I'm sorry you had to go through this. I know some days are harder than others, but you are making progress and that's what counts. Thank you for the job you do and good luck!
  5. Hi and welcome to LBT! Sounds like you made good progress on the pre-op diet. Keep it up! My younger brother just graduated from the police academy in December and we have a long history of law enforcement in our family. Now, my 18 y/o son has informed me he is going as soon as he is old enough!! Anyway, keep that goal in sight and let your band do its job. I know it's hard right now with no fill, but that's not your fault. Just take care and keep your eye on the prize. Good luck!
  6. Congratulations on your date! It will be here before you know it.
  7. Congratulations on the weight loss! You are doing great!! Imagine the head start you are going to have by the time you get through the 6 months. You go girl!!
  8. The psychologist uses various means (some have taken a lengthy questionaire, some have just talked, some have had numerous meetings) to determine that you are capable of sticking to the plan, you don't have unrealistic expectations of the Band, you don't have an eating disorder which could cause problems if you are banded, and that you know it will be a life-long commitment, among other things. Everyone's experience has been different. The main piece of advice I can give is to use whatever doctor your surgeon refers you to instead of striking out on your own, unless you are already seeing someone. Most surgeons have a group of doctors they work with for all of their testing and they know exactly what the surgeon is looking for. Good luck!
  9. I have always wanted one of those swings, but have been afraid the ceiling wouldn't hold me! That won't be the case much longer though. Sounds like I better start saving my money!
  10. One of our favorite things to do when we go out of town is to find a new sex shop and buy some new toys to try out. Sometimes for me, sometimes for him, sometimes for both. My favorite thing to do when I am trying to shock the man I am with has always been to tie their hands to the headboard or bed frame, preventing them from touching me, and then to tease them using...um, various means (oral, feathers, etc.) until they can't stand it anymore. Always makes them quite aggressive (which I like) when I untie them and leads to LOADS of fun.
  11. Hi and welcome to LBT! My surgery date is not until 6/18, but I immersed myself here as soon as I started considering surgery and learned all that I could while going through all of my testing and waiting. You can never know too much when it comes to something you are planning to do to your body! Take care and good luck!
  12. I have seen people post they lose quite a bit of weight during that phase. I kinda wish I had an all liquid diet for pre-op to jump start my weight loss, but my surgeon only requires high Protein, low carb. I might take it a little more liquid than that though. Good luck!
  13. So...did you get that surgery date today???
  14. It's amazing how wonderful a little innocent flirtation can make you feel isn't it?
  15. I haven't lost even 1 pound!! Hopefully that will change after my surgery on 6/18 and I'll still have time to meet my goal!
  16. Congratulations!! Wishing you the best!!

  18. Hi and welcome to LBT! Good luck!
  19. Hi and welcome to LBT! The waiting is the hardest part. Use this time to do some research here on the forum and learn all you can. Your approval WILL come!!
  20. Ok, it's official...June 18th for me!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Good for you! Keep up the good work!
  22. I would definitely go see the surgeon about that port. At least you know it's not likely infected with all the antibiotics you're already taking. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if you already aren't happy with it. Haven't you already talked to him about it and he expressed dissatisfaction too?
  23. I am waiting on the call with my date! I told the nurse I didn't want surgery until around the 15th because I work in a school and we aren't out until the 6th, then my son's 18th birthday is the 10th, so didn't want to be laid up for that. You are only about 2 weeks away from yours. Are you havign to do any pre-op diet?
  24. Jan, Glad surgery went so well for you. Were you outpatient or did you stay overnight? How are you feeling today?
