    Ahem...very personal :)

I met my hubby of 9 years online too! Good luck Chrisann. It can be hard being "out there", but you are worth SO MUCH more than what he was willing to invest in you. Keep us posted on how things are going!

Kat, you are too funny! You are the only other person I have ever known to say that. My kids think it is the funniest saying ever!

Yeah, it is. My bad! My son had it downloaded on my computer is how I found it and really couldn't remember who it was by!
  7. It is definitely normal to only have minimal weight loss until you find your "sweet spot". I was banded 6/18/08 and had my first fill 8/5/08. My doctor was very conservative with that first fill, only adding 1.5 cc's to the 2 he put in at surgery. I was still feeling a LOT of hunger and only lost .5 pound in the month before my 2nd fill on 9/2/08. He added 3.5 cc's then and I can now see a total change in my eating habits and weight loss. I have lost about 1 pound per day since then. Just be patient and try not to get discouraged. When you feel hungry, eat, just try to eat "good stuff" instead of reaching for a cookie or something. It may take several fills (and possibly unfills) before you reach your sweet spot and start seeing the difference. Good luck!

Help I have Blue Choice of SC

Hi Marek! I have had my surgery, but it wasn't paid for by the state. Fortunately, my dh's insurance covers WLS, so I didn't have to fight the state about it. That being said, since I am a state employee, I have been trying, although rather unsuccessfully at this point, to start lobbying the state about reinstating WLS coverage. My thought is that at the very least they could provide a rider to our current coverage that could be purchased separately by those wanting the surgery. That way, people who want the coverage can pay for it and those who would never use it won't have to pay a higher premium to provide it for those who want it. The way our policy is right now, you aren't going to be able to get any WLS covered.

Maybe he is just feeling awkward because he did take the chance and "crossed the line". You are both adults and since anything that happened was consensual, it really shouldn't be a big deal, but he may still be embarrassed. Give him a couple of days to work through his feelings about it then give him a call if you haven't heard from him. He may just need to know that YOU are still okay being friends. Good luck!

Since I work weekends at the county library, we get first dibs on the coupons from the 2 newspapers we subscribe to, plus I usually buy the local paper too. Lots of coupons!!

    Lighten UP Expo - Atlanta

I was browsing around online today and ran across this website: www.lightenupexpo.com. "Lighten Up Expo is a special conference for people with weight issues, Bariatric patients, people who are interested in Bariatrics, and how Weight Loss Surgery can enhance the quality of their lives." It is being held January 10, 2009, at the Georgia International Convention Center. After the 9:00 - 4:00 expo part, there is a black tie (optional) evening gown gala being held from 8:30 - 11:30 that night. Just thought I would share the info because I know some of us were going to have a hard time making it all the way to Dallas for the other convention.
  14. if you had to have a psych evaluation, did he refer you to a specific doctor? What was the evaluation like? What did it consist of? I am attending my seminar with him 10/18 and I am just trying to get in mind everything to expect. Thanks! Kathy

My input on the "tools of the (whore) trade"... I really prefer the realistic feeling ones. I find glass ones are too hard, as are most rubber ones. They get painful to me when I orgasm. Cyberskin is awesome, although it does require special care, it is well worth it to me. Dh and I make a fun little habit of finding sex shops just about anytime we go out of town, be it on business or pleasure. There is nothing like shopping and getting to see the merchandise in person. Then we go back to our room and try out our new toys! It can be quite an adventure. There are sex shops in any major city, you just have to know where to look.

    Taking Pills?

I am filled to 3.5 cc's at the moment and take a regular multi-vitamin, a B complex supplement, and an Effexor tablet every morning with no problems. And yes, my doctor does know and has no problem with it as long as I don't.

    What is your height?

I'm 5'10" (used to be just over 5'11") and was very happy with my curves at 225/size 18, but would like to be under 200.
  18. I am definitely still glad I did it. I know without a doubt that even if I had lost those 33 pounds on my own, they would have come back and then some eventually. That is not going to be an issue now!

    Depression after surgery.

Glad I could help! If your current medication isn't working, you should definitely discuss it with your doctor. Finding the appropriate medication and dosage level is a trial and error process you should work through together. The only reason it was easy for me this time is because I had to go on something after my hysterectomy 2 years ago and it took 3 tries to settle on something then! Now my surgeon tells me because it has been 2 years since the hysterectomy, I could very well be going into early menopause even though they left an ovary. Just what a 38 y/o wants to hear!! Good luck!! If you have any questions or want to chat, feel free to PM me.

    The Grocery Game

I just went to thegrocerygame.com and they are offering a 4 week trial for $1! During that time, you can get the weekly list for all of the stores on your list and the $1 covers it. For that cheap, I think I ma going to try it! I have been a coupon clipper for quite some time and I do try to match them up with the ads before I shop to get the best deals, but don't always have the time. With the price of groceries what it is today, I am willing to try anything to catch a break!

    Depression after surgery.

I have also experienced depression post-op. According to the PA at my surgeon's office, estrogen is stored in fat cells, so as you lose (especially rapidly like we tend to at first), your body gets flooded with estrogen, which can make you more emotional. If you are experiencing any menopause symptoms prior to surgery, it can be even worse for you. Currently, I am taking 75mg of Effexor a day and according to DH, I am "a different person". If it takes that in order to make me tolerable to live with while I'm on my way down, so be it. Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better soon!!

NSV (Non Scale Victory) Read me Read me!

I had a similar NSV last week, KiKi. I have a pile of pants in the back of my closet that are various sizes from 22-26 that I have pushed to the back as my weight went up. I noticed in the grocery store one day last week that I was "sagging" (as the kids say) and the only thing keeping my size 26 pants from hitting the floor was my hips. So when I got home, I started pulling out the 24s and they fit comfortably!! All the 26s are now in the Good Will bag!
  23. Hi Mary! I am down about 33 pounds now. Yippee!! How is it going for you?
