I am the 20th .. I don't live in NJ, but we can still support each other!

I got a call from the coordinator and she submitted my paper work in yesterday for a January date. Wish me luck and a prayer my way.

I am scheduled for January 20th! I am getting all pre-op work done on Saturday, but my scope does not happen into 1/9. I am glad I will be able to enjoy holiday food (in moderation) and then I start the liver shrinking diet 2 weeks prior to surgery.

Well just got back from my appointment and who is down 12lbs? This chick right here and I feel awesome about that I know it is cause I'm basically eating nothing and don't get me wrong I'm STARVING but hey I just know that if I go into surgery with a lower body weight that it means I have less to lose and I think that is something great!

My date is January 19th in CA

I am also going in January! My date is set for 1/16 in Mexico. I SO excited and nervous. I really would like to go NOW, but, I agreed to go after the holidays to make it easier on my boyfriend and family.
Where are you having your surgery done?

Everyone seems to have hit on all the things really... but my list for the sake of science...
1) Getting tired walking 20 feet.
2) Sweating!
3) The judgmental looks. Hate that people think they know so much about me based on one data point.
4) Bathroom "issues"
...and lastly... I'll still fly First Class (I'm a CEO, it's how I roll) but maybe I'll actually ENJOY it for a change!

I have BCBSIL and it took about 2 weeks total but I called them every 2 days. My surgeon's office called me last week and we scheduled my surgery for 10/17. Just stay on them. I didn't have to meet any extra requirements. Just that my BMI was 40.

You can always call them too. That's what I did. I tried to find out via the BCBS IL website but finally I just called them on my lunch hour and got confirmation of their policy for my PPO that way. I suppose I could have hunted them down. I know exactly where the BCBS IL building is here in Chicago! LOL. It's right next to the Aon center, which is the building I used to work in!

I'm surprised at some of the questions I see here and on other WLS boards from new VSG patients, like ...
* I just had VSG surgery. What am I supposed to eat now?
* My surgeon says not to drink alcohol until X months out. Can I drink now anyway?
* When can I start eating ice cream?
* I'm four days out and just had chicken McNuggets. Have I damaged my sleeve?
* If you plan to drink heavily, first take a Percocet to calm your stomach.
I totally get that, even pre-op, this surgery can sometimes be overwhelming. But some patients' questions suggest that even though they've just undergone major surgery they haven't read their post-op instructions, understood their instructions, don't believe what could happen to them if they don't follow instructions, or maybe they just never received any instructions at all.
Weird!

Yes! I find it frustrating too, and I wonder whether these folks are getting no guidance from their providers or they go into this blindly or are just not paying attention
