  1. I think we all go through jitters. If we have done our homework, we know what to expect and can go into it with a higher degree of confidence than had we not done our homework. Good luck to you! I am 3 mos. out and doing fine.

Just to share...the story angers me

Thank you for sharing your story. I am one of the "lucky" ones who has had every thing go as planned. I knew going in that complications do happen and you are living proof. I hope things go better from here on out.

Im normal bmi and body fat!

Way to go! Lots of hard work and patience to get to this. Reward yourself with new clothes or a night of dancing or, or, or........... Take some time to be proud of this accomplishment!

    Whats a reasonable goal

The realistic goal according to my surgeon is 1 to 2 pounds a week on average. Remember, there will be periods of time you do not lose weight followed by losing 2 to 5 pounds. As long as the scale is showing a loss or holding steady, I do not worry. I know the weight will come off in its own good time. I also recognize wanting to plot it out and hoping for a fast downward slide. Good luck with the surgery!

    People Under 5 Feet

I'm 4'11", but I always say I am 5'. I was sleeved close to 8 weeks ago and have lost about 25 pounds (I don't closely track it). I'm walking, but have not made it to the gym yet. Good luck, everyone!
  6. Bipolar, by itself, is not a real reason to not perform surgery. Perhaps consider Mexico, no hoops, no drama, based on medicine. Good luck!
  7. Not a moment of regret.

    pre op panic

I began with a BMI of 33 and I have not looked back for a moment. I am in my 60s, had no problems, and I feel a lot better.

    Passport for Mexico

You are required to have a passport to re-enter the US. That change is fairly recent. You can have the passport office expedite your passport. I had mine within 3 weeks.
  10. I went to Mexico and my PCP is following me. If needed, I can go back to Mexico for follow-up.
  11. Yes, drink a lot before your weight is done, keep everything you can in your pockets - coins, cell phone, rocks, anything Iron, slouch, and smile. Good luck! I think you will get approved.

    Depression

I forgot to mention that we have tons of neurons in our gut, not just our brain. These neurons also help keep the neurotransmitters in balance. With the surgery, we just had a bunch wicked out. Also, a lot of estrogen is stored in fat cells and gets released as those cells decrease in size. Many of us are sensitive to estrogen and it increases depression. I am with you in feeling some of the emotional roller coaster.

  15. Hello, my name is Jane and I'm a queer. I had not seen this forum until today. So nice to know we are here and, hopefully, willing to talk with one another. I am 6 weeks out and doing great. Oh, I live in San Diego.
