I HAD MY SURGERY
It continues to get better day by day. I went back to work on day #8 and actually felt pretty good. Today is day #10 and I'm still moving a smidge slow but very happy to finally be on puréed foods, as of yesterday.

Protein powder help
I've finally been progressed past the clear liquid phase but I was surprised that I almost had to beg the NUT to allow me to have Protein shakes. But, at the end of the day, I don't have an extra 20-30 minutes to sit and eat Breakfast. She finally agreed. I went to GNC to buy a couple of samples, but the only thing they had samples of is their Lean 25 powders. I bought the chocolate one and it's okay, but I don't love it. My NUT suggested Jay Robb, which seems to have good reviews on the GNC website. So, I might just give that a shot (even though they don't have sample packets). The nutrition facts on the Jay Robb are more favorable than the GNC brand. My main question though, if you use the powder, how do you not end up with chunks? I bought a shaker cup, but it doesn't really seem to be effective for the small portion that I'm making (around 6 oz). Any other tips? Also, I wish the shaker cups had a strainer in the mouth piece, to hold back to chunks. Ick!!

Did anyone NOT tell their job about surgery?
One of your coworkers showed up bedside pre-op??? Wow...

As of this morning, I'm only 20 lbs away too. We'll get there before we know it!

Eggnog recipe help
I'm only 8 days out, but there has to be an alternative. No way would I even try the regular stuff now!

That sounds amazing.

Sleeping positions :)
I was sleeping on an incline until last night. Last night I slept flat on my back or tipped a bit to the right, but with a blanket balled up to support my tummy.

Post op sucks!
I'm on day #8 post op and just slept flat in bed last night. Now my back hurts. LOL!

Puréed phase?
Wow, that looks awesome!! I did get a binder at the start but it strictly addressed the various surgical options. They seem to be giving me the rest of the detail a little at a time.

When You Realize You Really Are Changing...
This is me too. I'm now about a week post-op, so I'm curious to see if/when my mind and body collide.

Puréed phase?
Wow, I'm impressed that canned tuna and canned salmon are on there! I was thinking that my options would be really limited but if my list is similar to yours, I should have quite a few options.

Puréed phase?
Yep, the thought of eating baby food makes me want to gag. I don't have a problem making my own food into that consistency though.

Puréed phase?
I'm sure she'll give me much more detailed info at my appt on Friday. I'm just trying to wrap my head around it ahead of time.

Puréed phase?
Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to a little texture, but I know that Water goes down well and I don't want to find out that something else doesn't. LOL! What about refried Beans (thinned with a bit of water?)? Or is that a "soft food" stage kind of item...

How long was your recovery
I had surgery last Thursday and I go back to work tomorrow. I'm a little concerned about getting tired, but otherwise I feel fine. ETA: Not to say I wouldn't mind another week or two off though...

Hello! December 1 Surgery Date - Scared buy determined.....
I was really nervous going into it too, and I had previously had two c-sections and my gall bladder removed. I had surgery last Thursday (11/13) and I was questioning my decision for the first couple days after, but not any more. I'm feeling more normal and looking forward to the months/years to come!!

Puréed phase?
What foods were you allowed on your puréed phase? After being on Clear liquids for the first nine days, I expected to move to full liquids for a week, but my NUT told me this morning that when we meet on Friday, I'll be moving to the puréed stage and to start thinking about what I want for lunch that day. I'm sure she'll give me her guidelines on what I can have. But, give me some ideas on what you were allowed to have during that phase!

Post op sucks!
Hang in there. My surgery was on the 13th and I'm feeling more and more human each day. My "questioning what I did" was pretty much gone by day 3 or 4. I'm still on clear liquids, but feeling good about it.

Protein Supplements
I love the Atkins Caramel Cafe pre-op too!! I haven't tried anything post-op yet.

Are there any vitamins that taste better than Flintstones?
Me too!! Ha ha!

Leak Test
My leak test was during surgery. I don't know if I'll have another one or not.

Post op sucks!
Those hiccups sound miserable!!

I've also had two c-sections. So, you should be a pro at the "log roll" to get in and out of bed. Most of my pain at first was under my diaphragm, and it was gas pain. They were giving me gas meds four times per day, so that helped. Then, I strained one of my incisions and that's been my pain point for the last few days.
