  1. Thanks everyone! I just got up and walked and that actually felt pretty good.
  2. They haven't had me up and walking yet. Probably within the next hour.
  3. I'm in my room. Really sore, from the gas I think, but otherwise doing okay.
  4. I am scheduled for surgery today. I leave for the hospital in about an hour. The nothing to drink after midnight really sucks. I could REALLY go for some ice cold Water... I'm also super nervous about it... I feel like I'm prepared for post-op lifestyle, it's the risk of complications and short term pain that I'm concerned about at this point. I know that I have a lot of things in my favor (age, low BMI, no other health issues, experienced surgeon), but I also have two small kids at home that need their mommy.

  6. My surgery is tomorrow afternoon and I've been told that I will get out on Saturday.
  7. I'm in a similar position, except my surgery is tomorrow. Ugh!!! I'm not at all worried about the post-op diet, I know I can do that. It's the risk of complications that has me so nervous... I have two small kids at home.
  8. I'm scheduled for tomorrow too. Now is when the nerves kick in.
  9. I'm only taking a week. Surgery is on Thursday and I'm going back to work next Thursday.
  10. My daughter tends to over analyze things to the extreme and I don't want to cause her any additional anxiety, which is why I haven't told her. My son just turned three, so he has no clue and probably never will. LOL!!
  11. Thanks for sharing. I go in for surgery on Thursday. Do you have a history of DVT's? Is that why they did the IVC filter? I work in the medical device field, so I find this stuff interesting!
  12. Thank you for sharing this page. It's interesting to read the impact on kids piece. I have less than 48 hours until surgery and I haven't said a word about it to my 7.5 yr old daughter.
  13. I've tried coconut water before and it's totally not my thing. I'm not too picky on most things, but that is one I just haven't been able to embrace.
  14. I've been doing low carb for about 3.5 months, but that makes sense. When I've had low potassium in the past, my arms have ached. I'll go take some potassium (I have a supplement) and hopefully tomorrow is better. Thanks!!
  15. I'm on day #4 of my liquid diet and I've been battling a bit of a headache, but my leg muscles just ache! I almost feel like maybe it's low sodium... I'm nervous because I start my clear liquid diet tomorrow, so I feel like it's only going to get worse (surgery is on Thursday). Thoughts or suggestions??
  16. My surgery is on Thursday and it's stressing me out a bit too...
  17. I'm on day #3 of the liquid diet and feeling tired/cold, but yesterday was the worst in regards to trying to stick to the rules. My surgery is on the 13th.
  18. Thanks! I'm open to whatever will kick this!
  19. Okay, thanks for the info! Right now, my chest is completely clear, my throat feels just a smidge funny but not really scratchy, and even though I have a bit of the sniffles, I can breathe completely fine through my nose... Let's hope this doesn't develop into anything more!!
  20. I've had a bit of the "sniffles" the last week or so. My doc office suggested I try either Zicam or Airborne. My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday (13th). Today I'm feeling a bit of a headache (day #2 of the liquid diet though). I really, REALLY hope that I'm not getting sick. At what point would they reschedule surgery? Would they reschedule for just a basic cold or would it have to be a full blown nasty chest cold? If I end up having to reschedule, I'll have to push it out about a month, and then timing isn't great for work... Ugh!!
  21. I'm sure that there's more that plays into it, but I wonder if the size of bougie that's used plays into the likelihood of developing a stricture. Obviously that wouldn't be the sole reason, but just wonder if there's a correlation.
  22. My surgeon uses a 40F (French) bougie. 1 French = 1/3 millimeter That is the diameter of the bougie. So, it describes how big around, but not your ending volume.
  23. @"RedDirtRoads" I actually don't start until tomorrow. I've been drinking Protein shakes for Breakfast for a while, so I'm hoping it isn't too terrible. I'm more worried about the Clear Liquids only on next Tuesday/Wednesday. Have you survived the day so far?
