  1. Okay, the situation has changed, I told my big bosses about what kind of surgery I was having, so when the doctor gave me 6 weeks off work, they were totally cool about it. When I came back after a month, my colleagues in the office (7 of them) were so happy with my new appearance. Then just last week, we just hired a new colleague and he's a big guy. (By the way during the process of recruiting. I heard one of the candidates said with confidence that he'd get the job because the other guy was too fat, Gosh! thank God we didn't hire that guy) One day I brought him to the mail room and introduced them to other colleagues then a colleague told the new guy that I was doing a great job losing a lot of weight in 6 months (I told other colleagues outside my office that I've been on diet since March which is true) The new guy turned to me right away and asked if I had a By Pass surgery..and automatically, I said No!! and he said liar! so the other colleague asked me again, really did you have the by pass? I said, NO I did NOT have a By Pass Surgery. then we left the mail room. On the way back to the office when we were alone I told the new guy that, by the way, it was NOT a by pass, it was a sleeve I had for surgery. He got so interested and said that he wanted to do it too but his mum said, it would do nothing to him (he's Lebanese and still young, only 28) He lost and gained all the time, the last time he lost 72 lbs and gained all back and probably more. Anyway, I told him briefly about my journey especially that the social security system pays all for it and the office gave me great support about this, I offered to give him as much as info if he wants to go for the surgery. I think now in France WLS is quite common now but I still prefer to keep it private, well, I didn't tell people when I had tooth surgery neither, why I should tell them about this one, right?
  2. Well said, thanks for the topic, Dooter. It's my worst nightmare, indeed. I know 2 friends who had by passed a few years ago, both are big bone women and they lost 35 and 52 lbs and stopped losing a while ago. One gained back quite a lot, the other stay the same but both of them never reached their goal weight as they had the by pass, they told me they can eat "normally" just like pre-op. When I got nervous about the food choices, excercise or stalls, one of them would say, no worry it's not easily gainning back! Jeez, that stressed me even more. I'm not even 3 months out and scared of the last day of the honeymoon period already.

    Big legs

Oh my God! Juts my thought exactly!! I've never been able to wear long boots ever and one of my dreams would be wearing ones! However my calves are quite big since forever, and it's propbably the only area in my body that are quite strong with muscle (especially now, they are so hard!) I still hope to be in a nice paire of long boots, with high heels.. aww it would be so awwwwesome!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

There were times during last month that I thought the same and I only lost 3.5 Kg (7.7 lbs) while my doctor expected me to lose 11-15 lbs per month but I eventually could make peace in my mind with that but then this month after I started dancing 5 days a week, my scale moves down everyday, kinda scary, so far I've already lost 10.34 lbs, still have 4 days to go, probably I can reach Dr's expectation this month. Cheer up!! xxx

    When can I eat rice

Oh PS my surgeon didn't give me any restrictions on rice or carbs, he said I should eat a bit of everything.

    When can I eat rice

I'm Thai so, rice is like bread to me and I thought I cannot live without it, so since I started the solid food I tried many times to eat rice but it didn't really go well especially if the rice is too dry, I would throw up!! Japanese rice is a bit stickier and softer but I still cannot eat more than a tablespoon (I eat protein first, then vegetable, rice is the last thing). It's quite bizarre for me living without rice, I know it's also psychological thing so what I do is if I want rice I just put it on my plate and eat it the last. At the end, I couldn't fill it in my tumny anyway, and I feel satisfied lol.

Now I can handle eating with people too, though their comments would be--you were more like smelling the food!! last week I went to eat at a Thai restaurant with a friend and he didn't want to have my share on the bill because I ate so little (we order 3 dishes to share) and the worst part was he had to finish everything by himself which I felt a bit guilty about it :-P

    I love my sleeve

I'm just 2 months and a half post-op and cannot be called 'thin' yet but I love my sleeve too!! Now I can run to catch a bus, I can dance FOR THE WHOLE HOUR!! I love the sporty looks with sneakers as much as I love the elegant looks on high heels, no more double chin, no more 3 medications daily!!!! I LOVE IT!!

Firming and Toning - Need Help!

I love dancing so I have done zumba, Sh'Bam and L.I.A for 3 weeks now It's really fun and I see the good result. The "lifebuoy" on the waist and under my belly button started shrinking down. I also join the 1 hour body balance class (mix of Yoga & Pilates) once a week. I also exfoliate once a week and moisturize everyday. I heard that it can help with the stretch marks (mine are still red and not very visible).

Today it was so funny, at lunch I went down to the canteen a bit earlier than my close friend who I have lunch with everryday for 7 years, I got my food but he had not yet arrived so I went to sit with my friend's boss who usually would join both of us if he didn't have company. I waited so long but my friend didn't show up, then the colleague I sat with told me that my friend was there already but he went sitting with other friends. Then after lunch I went to see my friend and he confessed that he saw that his boss was eating with "someone' but he didn't recognize that the person was ME!! that's why he went to sit at the other table!!! Oh la là, I laughed so hard!! This is huge!! my best friend couldn't recognize me from behind!!! He also mentioned that my dress today is already hanging off me! Well, I'm still mostly between sizes (dropped from 16-18 to 12-14) I don't want to buy new clothes just yet, luckily I still have some old clothes of size 14 kept from a few years ago and I am now trying to wear the clothes size 16 that hanging fully in my closet before I really have to give them up :-( I also shared this in the other topic (funny NSV) but I had a stressful day and this story is really funny, totaly made my day hehe.

  16. I wouldn't say that it's painful post-op maybe because I was on the pain-killer a few days after surgery. The nurse asked me everyday for the pain It was never very bad even the gas pain, on day 4 when the nurse asked me for the pain and from the scale of 0-10 I said 0, the nurse said, good because you're ff the pain killer since this morning lol XD. It's more like discomfort, I felt like someone tied a tight big knot under my skin. I asked my husband just now, he didn't recall me complaining about pain at all even in the first few days post-op. I wish you a succesful surgery and smooth pain-free recovery
  17. I'm a smoker and I started smoking again since around 2 weeks post-op without complication. My surgeon was ok with it and said you can quit it later if you cannot do all at once. I sure do want to quit some day though.
  18. Wow great job!!! you look great!!! Congratulations!!!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Finally I'm under 176lbs (80kg)!!! Woohooooo!! Just wanted to shout out because it's been probably 10 years my weight has never been under 176 lbs. And since the second month afterr the surgery the losing rate got slower than the first month (7.7 lbs per month) the Michelin tire on the belly I got from the first month has been shrinking back in place a little bit at a time. now I barely have the tire on the waist and the saggy skin in front under the belly button is not hanging anymore but still have saggy belly hanging on the area above the tights which I HOPE it will shrink down as well (fingers crossed)!!

    Coffee?

I was on IV for 4 days after surgery and once I passed to scan, the hospital offered me a cup of coffee or tea, so I asked for coffee (pretty sure it was decaf lol). My doctor didn't give me any restriction on coffee, I drink 1 cup everyday after that but mostly decaf.
  21. I'm 4'9" age 42 (Asian) started at the highest weight 227.7 lbs I lost during pre-op before surgery 17.6 lbs Surgery date 7 July 2014 - Weight 209.66 lbs Today 17 September 2014 - Weight 177.76 lbs Total lost 49.94 lbs Lost since surgery 31.9 lbs I wish you a successful surgery and smooth recovery!!
  22. In the first month I lost 20.68 lbs. Second month only lost 7.7 lbs September will be my third month and so far I've lost 4.18 lbs. Lost total 32.56 lbs. I also lost 17.6 lbs during pre-op so now I'm good lol. Now I don't really care much about weight loss because I know I'm losing. I more concentrate on staying in the routine, water intake, balance meals, exercises, moisturising, sleeping hours. If I can lose only 7-8 lbs per month, I'm ok with it. But my doctor expected me to lose 10-15 lbs though, well, I think he knows best that it's different for everyone.

    Sushi...

It's a sad story that I cannot tolerate rice quite well neither if it's the plain rice but japanese rice is a bit softer and stickier so I can eat a little. Haven't had any sushi since surgery I'm only 2 months out but love to try some day.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I didn't realize that I am actually 2 months post-op today!! Since surgery I've lost 29.26 lbs today I weigh 180.4 lbs and I can't wait to lose 5 more because It's been so long I weighed under 175 lbs. I wish I could do it by my birthday but I don't think that I can lose 5 lbs in 10 days. It would be cool though!
