When you can't even be honest with yourself

I was not quite sure if I should be an open book about my surgery. I'd see it case by case depends on their background and the necessity. It's like if you talk to a person with the language that they don't speak, it will be a waste of time. Before the surgery, I told a few close friends because I knew that I'd need their support after the surgery, my bosses and cowokers in the office knew about it because I'd take a long recovery and they are going to bear my work, I think they deserved to know and they're very supportive. Since my transformation started to be quite noticable, some colleagues outside my office asked me for some tips to lose weight. I told them to do what I do now, lots of water, no sugary stuff, eat real food, lots of veegetable, protein first, no carb for dinner, excercise 5 days a week and eat a reasonable portion per meal. These colleagues, they just have only 20-30 lbs excess weight which I don't think they would need the surgery to lose it. I've done all above said during pre-op to train myself to see if I could live with the sleeve and I did lose 18 lbs in 4 months, so I think my information would be useful to them too. On the otherhand, I told a new colleague who is really obese and he never knew that I was fat. After I learnt that he has been struggling as well (he told me that he lost 66 lbs 3 years ago and gained all back). I told him briefly about the surgery what I went through and how I'm doing now. There's a weird thing though, some colleagues who have been big, we WERE practically the same size, they never asked me about how I lost weight. I was so prepared to tell them if they would consider WLS as their option but they never come to me and ask. (one girl just said to me nicely that 'you look great!') the other girl never mentioned anything about my change. I guess some people don't really mind other people's business. That's another reason I don't see the point to share with everyone.

    Clothing Sizes

Went shopping a little today and as my body figure is not in place yet (big here, small there) so I decided that I'll buy only any model in size M that I can fit myself into but apparently now I can fit in anything in size M!! However, some clothes just only look good in theory lol so I ended up buying just only 2 T-shirts for my dance classes and a cute colourful wool dress for upcoming winter, all in size M (I wanna cry with joy).

    Goal weight is still overweight!?!?!?

I too set my goal weight (10 lbs less than my doctor's goal) because I want to be my best (healthiest) self again. I know that with age I propably won't look healthy at 101 lbs but I want to go as fas as I can...just in case it bounce back! However I think I will play by ear, listen to my body, even I don't reach my goal now, so be it. I'll focus on the maintenance at my new weight.
  6. Congrats, actually you're really cute before surgery and now you look really cute and younger!!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Today I met the girl who reccommended her surgeon to me, she's around 9 months out and looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Thanks to her who revealed her secret (her colleague had done it a few years back but she never told me) and I feel so grateful for her because I didn't have a clue about WLS. It was the first time we saw each other since surgery and she was so happy for me, we were gigling a little while talking aboyt our McDreamy (our cute and talented surgeon) we really like him. And the sleeve has changed our lives completely, in the better condition. :-)

Now for working clothes in general I'm still hanging on to my old smaller clothes size 14 because I don't to buy new clothes just yet. Today I went shopping to pick up some thick warm fluffy pyjama because it's getting colder and I feel cold easily. when I looked at this pyjama, I decided to try on the smaller size because it can stretch out a little and surprise! I can fit into the size 8/10!! OMG! Before surgery when I picked up the night gowns I had to go up to 20/22 because I like wearing them comfortably, now I'm comfortable in size 8/10!! Aww... love my sleeve!!

    NSV shout outs

Next week my office will hold a big international reception to receive a Minister of our country and I just got the new assignment today from my boss that they want me to be the MC of this reception. Ok I worked for this office for 5 years, we held a lot of receptions and events but I was never asked to do this duty. I know I could do it well because I'd done this kind of things since high school until I put on weight, no one would ask me to do this. Can't help but thinking it must be something about my new look. Not sure I should be glad or sad about it.

    Hair never grew back.

Okay, I just took a blood test yesterday because my doctor thought that I'm losing hair because of I lack of iron but.. apparently my iron level is sky high!! now I'm worried!! *sigh* I'm going back to see him next week to see what kind of treatment he can offer me to treat my hair lost.

What size sleeve did your surgeon use?

I'll have to ask. He only showed me that my stomach now has the same size of a pen.

    Appearing smaller than you are

Me too I can hide 30 lbs easily with the dressing technic. When I weighted 209 lbs, one of aunties asked me my weight, she said I just Wonder if I weight around 176 lbs or not.

    Hair never grew back.

I lost a lot of my hair in the past month and I didn't have a lot before surgery already *sigh* Anyway, I went to see my doctor and he ordered the blood test to see if I lack of Iron or something and we'll deal with it. Meanwhile, I'm giving a serious thought for a wig!!

How did you settle on a goal?

My surgeon set the goal weight for me at 110 and I agreed with him but I myself would like to go down until 101 lbs (if I can) like when I was 25 which I think at that weight I didn't look fluffy lol I'm small and round so I never looked skinny even when I was thin. The only time that people mentioned that I look 'too skinny' was when I was 16 and I weight 83 lbs but I never want to look skinny. I would love to be between101-110 lbs at the moment, I'll see how well I can do. Now I'm almost half way to goal. I'll be happy already if I can lose only 40 lbs more.

You will eventually drop a few sizes in a few months, you'll see. It's like it just happened in one day! I'm looking forward to be in my goal dress of Liz Claiborne that I bought over 13 years ago when I lost weight down to 121 lbs but I didn't get to stay very long at that weight and I didn't have a heart to throw the dress, I loved it too much!!

    Clothing Sizes

Mostly I wear dress, so I think of buying some models that I can still wear even when I shrink down a few sizes, thinking of dresses sans sleeves so I can just wear cardigan (of my real size) over them. I'm still wearing my old rain coat (had to fold the sleeves) but have to wear a few layers inside because when it looses It doesn't keep me warm enough. Now I still keep some tunics of size 18, I can wear them as casual dresses!

After 1 month post-op I lost around 22 lbs and I was about to go back to work. I was so thrilled that everything in my closet was well fitted, nothing tight (I was wearing size 16 post-op) I can fit comfortably in my old clothes. During the second month I didn't lose much, it was quite slow, only 7.7 lbs but some clothes were hanging off me already.. Third month I lost around more 11 lbs and everyday I got upset because everything in the closet was too big, of course I can still wear some (but they're definitely too big, I mean some top turned to be a dress!) Now I'm going on my 4th month and last week I went shopping a little, now I can fit in (not tight) size M (8)for the top but I only bought 1 cardigan and 1 jacket because I still didn't' want to buy new clothes. However, today I hit the rock bottom in my closet, I wanted to wear a skirt of size 16 that I could still wear 2 weeks ago but I couldn't anymore!! so I tried on the smallest skirt of size 12 that I kept (for souvenire lol which wore the last time 8 years ago) and almost shocked that I can fit in it!!!. That's it, I think I have to start changing the whole wardrobe and my husband is scared to death now lol.

    I didn't know how big I was

I knew I was big, the biggest in my life but I didn't realize how it seemed that I had a hard time to even walk to others until recently a colleague came to give me compliments and she told me that I looked like tired all the time. She was so happy to see me moving more active and looking so healthy now, even my skin is glowing!

    What is your exercise regimen?

Since 10 days post-op I started with walking (faster and faster) One and a half hour everyday until it started to rain so I joined a gym near my work place where they have a few dancing workout classes so it became my workout regime. Monday - L.I.A. (Low impact aerobic dance) 1 hour Tuesday - rest Wednesday- Sh'bam 45 minutes, Body balance (yoga&pilates) 1 hour Thursday- rest Friday- Zumba fitness 1 hour Saturday - Sh'bam 45 minutes, weight lifting 1 hour Sunday - Zumba 1 hour The rest days I try walking around (shopping lol) to get 10,000 steps per day. Now I'm addicted to dancing workout. If I couldn't go to the gym on my class day I feel so upset!

Yay! Okay unfortunately for this one lol but I'll wait for more stories to come from your next instinct.

    social skills victory!

The basic B---- haha, I am exactly it! I don't think it comes with age but at 42 I can be myself more than ever! I never felt fit in to my age until I hit 33 and ever since I feel more liberate to do and speak my mind with diplomatic technic - only if it's useful and doesn't hurt anybody. Back to the topic of dressing. Even when I was fat (well now I'm still fat but a lot smaller) people always loved the way I dressed. Have you seen the series Drop Dead Diva? All of my friends who saw Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliot) in the series, they came to me said that, OMG she reminded me of you. I always have the confidence of a model inside that fat body. I don't know what is it about me (maybe I'm very friendly like a labrador or look a bit flirty) but people (men & women) always got surprised when I told them that I'm married they would be like that "oh really? but you look like a single girl" guys always hit on me at any weight, but I'm happily married so I just take it as compliments.

Thanks you guys, you'll get there. Keep up good work and think positive, your body will eventually agree with you lol. This month since 1st October my weight has been swinging back and forth between 170-171 I guess it doesn't want to let go of the 70s lol. I aimed a mini goal to reach 165 lbs by the end of October but it's ok, I don't rush
